  1. on the race buggy i ran a tube strait to the awd no soliniods or valves just strait line preshure was a bitt involved to do but works awsome and still realeases when shut off. I whould recomend a 2.5 1 short block with 92 -96 deul port ej 2.2 heads with 98-99 roller cams and valve trian takes 4 heads to setup but get roller deul port heads. Have biult a cupple now torque monsters
  2. the ea 81 pistons have sloted oil ring feed the 2.0 and late ea82 turbo pistons have drilled oil ring feed holes this makes piston stronger. The 2.0 pistons will fitt but must press wristpin bushings out and use 2.0 wristpin. I think you will find that the hot wire tb dosent bolt up very easy could be wrong has been a while since last ea81 turbo engine. PS have 4 ea81 turbo long blocks and 12 crank and rod assemblys from ea81 saved for the airplane guys
  3. At the junk yard i use old throttle cable from somthing poke it thru and use it like a saw back ad forth working your way around is cheap tool and endless suply at wreakers wrap it around a screwdriver for better hold
  4. Two blocks thiss year in the scrap from thiss as long as its end thrust to end thrust will work a 251 or 253 or 252 make shure you match pistons to bore b to b bore a to a bore. Trying to get 3 inchs of steel out of aluminum perty hard mabee jiged in a milling machine may get it milled out goto the size of hili coil tap and can be hili coiled
  5. My 81 brat is old body with ea81 high low factory trans is a bitt dif were shifter gos and has high low on dash and tach. I made it spi thiss made it run way better. The ea81 uses a retuing sestem the ea71 dose not i think you can put the spigot from ea71 carb to ea81 carb thiss may help alos try boling back thru lines into tank mine had s--t in the lines or sock at the tank and was just barly geting feul thru
  6. try titening up the main engine ground on ps top of intake and check that all engine main harness conectors are pluged in all the way and clean posts on batt mabee extra ground wire from - post to block
  7. front pinion berring on the pinoin shaft were it contacts the crown gear pull magnet plug from front diff and check for meatal shavings or bitts. If thiss go's it alows the tail shaft to contact transfer gears making those noises
  8. Howbout somthing easy like droped ex valve guides the unhappy side of overheating can be checked by looking up the ex port and see if guides are were thay should be about 1/4 inch below head casting. Or bad plugs or wires any oil on plug boots ?
  9. what pistons did you use ? nice setup why not turbo ? or mpi carbed super charger its like being at the drag race track lol does it lag when you stomp it wot ? is it soilid lifter engine or hydro I bet that machine with a ej2.2 turbo whould be crazy fast and the front wheel whould never touch the ground
  10. auto scary check actuation of the 4x4 soiliniod should push your finger away when turned on the little brass plunger make shure it isent bent or sticking have seen a few failed. Think thats the ac fuse wrong direction also check for bad rear axle. That trans is the only one that dosent have a 4x4 senser on trans the light is turned on by the switch not by trans phisicaly going into 4x4 so it may say 4x4 on dash but switch nevr moved on trans have fought this before
  11. See right now only have 1rst / 2nd and reverse maualy controled by switchs no tcu forces me to run max line preshure all the time and cant shift on its own
  12. The ecu just hasent learned yet give it time to figure out whats going on well gess that makes 4 out of 1200 lol. Bet the diafram is bust on the egr tranducer

On my 80 brat the feul vent lines on the purge canister in the ds rear fender hose had fallen off and was venting into the body could smell gas when driving but only with the window down i found it by useing air preshure to put sestem under preshure and see were it gos this was done with carb disconected and no more than 10 psi max.

I thought the ea82 tb gos in at angle and the ea81 gos strait in could be wrong also thought was somthing with the throttle pos senser the 85 ea82 used the same mangment as ea 81 well close thiss tb bolts up and plugs in. On the one i biult we used a soilid lifter block with turbo ea81 heads this setup reved realy good and no ticky ticky if i biult one again i will use wrx 2.0 pistons or 89-94 ea82 gl10 pistons with drilled oil feed holes and pin rings way stronger and can rev and boost it to the moon
  15. make shure you check length and size of seal fitt on inside cv to hub seal
  16. he forgot the never let of ever unless your on fire or upside down so 3 coats of clear coat some super slipy wax and shes almost ready and back to the same old rear axles at least they are tested and true. Is not as snapy with 10 psi verses 20 psi but will hold up and engine may have a chance
  17. Love it ! fellow subaru racers i love the tough truck events have done a few now is a wild ride how cosistat is it ? If i let off the gas on jumps it nose dives but if i keep my foot in it it jumps level how big of air car your car take ?
  18. the one on my 80 brat stinks like nox all the time real stinky bugger a'm waiting to flush out the old gas before carb upgrade gets a ea82 carb from 85 gl wake it right up
  19. I have done it have to modify disstrubutor drive gear and power strering is pain use ea 81 intake with ea82 wire harness need a 85 ea82 throttle body rest should work fairly easy need to use a lower rad hose from a 94 loyale the s hose
