I stop on a steep gravel hill and punch it if front wheels spin before rear comes on is problem should be instant awd and dig 4 holes and drive away a good one dosent even spin the front one turn a bad one will spin front tires and rear comes on slow or not at all or violently. The clutches are located in the tailshaft of trans and can be done with trans in car. My first step to diagnose is to put in 2wd fuse and go for long drive this holds the soiliniod open and will clear anything that may be blocking it

look at the exposed threads of the nut turn in untill they sit were they were prevosly you should be able to see and should take up berring clearance thiss is somthing i never touch leaking or not can of worms do whatever you have to to make shure its in the same spot as before look very close with a good light and you should be able to tell

I also had this on a 2.2 i did headgaskets and still oil in coolant turned out to be the red block half oring was leting oil in when cooling sestem cooled down and went under vacume. It was a real pain to track down I also think head gaskets but this is unfamiliar engine and uses oil coolers and has higher comp and more cly preshures. Are you shure is not deisel in the coolant ? I also think if any subaru head was to crack this whould be the heads that whould be under the most stress. If the headgasket is gone you should see oil leaking externaly at head seam

Have done many 2.2 harness cutdowns I know all the wire coulors with my eyes closed the 2.2 t harness was harder than a regular 2.2 harness is easy to miss somthing or conect the wrong wires mabee damaged your ecu

Engine is fixed runs spanky good now had it pulling wheels off the ground up my street yesterday. I can hit the 3500 stall now is a kick in the pants when you let off the brakes and hit the gas at 3500 the turbo is spooled and she feels like its ready to tear its self apart. I also figured out that i cant stear if my front wheels arnt on the ground.

Had a 01 outback yesterday that when i hoisted it the rear diff hanger / suspention broke and fell down the frame x member rusted thru i had to tell them was unsafe have never seen thiss before and was broken in a way was very dangerus and could have been catastofic if broke at hyway speeds good thing it broke on hoist. The ps rear wheel had nothing holding it to car other than rear shock and the customer had no idea complant of pulling to ps side

The short wheel base makes it very stable is a square so has a very good stance and have had it at very high speed on rough terain no problems it dose well on tough truck corses. Dont get me wrong i take it out every chance i get but having it get taken away for runing in the bush with no inshurance or in regulated areas is no good out here they have been after ofroaders and handing out hudge fines. anyway i whould love to bring it down but have full race season to do first. So i pulled the engine apart found #3 piston had indeed hit the head and colapsed the top ring land and damaged the piston bore is ok so new piston in head gaskets will be here today and back togther it gos took me 20 min to pull engine the rest looks good still seeing it only had 3 hours of run time on it. On the bright side the brakes are super crazy good stops fast and has way better holdback

I'm the only guy around here who will even take on a wheel berring in a 90s and up subaru and even with the exact tools and hoist is very diffacult and they give me greif costs 350 $ each wheel somtimes more if i cant get it apart. Some i just have to cut out the knukel and replace it if to badly rusted

Matt bought a realy cool mpi propane setup was showing me last night tees into the injector feeds and can run deul feul was very neat looking kinda like a vortec mpi but with propane. We are going to test it on untested 2.5 stroker turbo engine has 10-1 comp roller cams and turbo legacy heads with mpi propane should work good
