Put in 2 Lsyentheic 75-80 gear oil and 1 L gm syicro fliud and 1 L dextron 3 atf the lighter fliud will help it shift better and the gm fliud has syicro agents in it to aid shifting

so there is a buch of shuttling valves on valve body that sit right under the wearing componets on trans bitts get into the valves and make them stick have had a few now one a tiny piece of clutch materail got into valve and jamed it in bore we cleaned it but was still sticky had to use 1000 grit emery paper to clean bore then was fine. I think your fix in a can probly helps to unstick theese sticking valves

EA71 Pistons
ivans imports replied to Twitch de la Brat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Its not about how mutch power you make its about how reliable it makes it whats the actual comp diference ? have seen the ea82 pull 8500 rpms no broken pistons the spi ones are very strong. I have a 80 ea71 with ea82 carb this engine is strong but was alway afraid of breaking the pistons have been siting on this engine for years. Will drag it out and put ea82 spi pistons in it and rebiuld her and let you know how it runs in my old brat will see what it can take. Whats the highest rpms that anyone has seen a ea71 rev to ? -
Whent strait forward drilled 4 holes in gasket and planed the heads this is critical because the block is taller on early 2.2 the problem arises that the timing belt is way tighter fitt so by planing the heads thiss helped with that but was still very tight to get belt tentioner in anyway thiss engine ran flawlesly. Today a'm doing a 97 2.5d short block into a 03 legacy with a 2.51

So was thinking about the damage to valve train is it posibble that the valve spring retainer hit the top of valve giude ? is the valve seal damaged the higher lift cam may have pushed father than the valve spring has room to compress bottoming out and causeing damage. I put a high lift cam in a ea81 i had to grind down the valve giude slighty to alow for the higher lift. Or the oil feed hole for roller got pluged and it ran dry mind you then it whould be blue and show shigns of heat

um try tighting the ground bolt on intake ps side also check main engine conectors on engine to car harness like to not plug in all the way also check alt voltage is not to high when i get cars with mutiple codes is uhsaly somthing biger going on sensers do not fail that easy and mutiple frailed sensers very very rare car ecu having to learn no dont think so i put in engines dayliy and its ether right or wrong. Should be runing as good as its going to as soon as you start it.

the head is so easy to pull why not putt valves in it ? I put them on my valve grinder tells you instantly if bent or not. Have had a few come in that had been runing with bent valves for years 3 cly 2.5d will drive a long time if your not in a hurry. Did not damage the head just burned the ex seat a bitt. I whould take head off and change valves
