  1. Have a egr intake and head for 2.2 just got yesterday is very not commen but is needed for 2.2 swap with no check engine. Only came on us cars 95-97
  2. ferreli has guides that are 1 thow biger is the best i found yet i think the exhaust over heats the heads and the guides fall down seems to be more of a problem on late model sohc but have seen it on 2.2 and 2.5d but non on wrx yet. I think some kind of heat sink between the head and exhuast whould help. some kind of heat resistat material keep the heat off the heads. To find thiss problem without pulling heads you could look up the exhuast port and see if guides are were they should be. This engine came from wreakers so no idea on matanace but was under 140000kms on it and oil was clean good thing i dident just throw it in there good thing valve were bent or i wouldhave installed a droped guide engine was just lucky i foud it
  3. putting a 96 2.2 short block with 99 2.2 heads togther today will tell you haw it works out will have to modify the headgaskets a bitt a few more drilled holes as have to use phase 1 headgaskets for the height
  4. Also the ea71 pistons have a sloted oil ring oil feed grove the ea82 has a drilled oil ring feed holes thiss makes the pistons way stronger as they break on the sloted oil ring grove 94 ea82 flat tops best for strength with drilled oil feed holes
  5. stock other than two loyale pistons instead of xt pistons same ones anyway yes i'm the king of the pistonbroke team thiss is over 10 years of racing have scatred a few engines to we exploded a 2.2 twin cam turbo engine at 100 mile race let go at 7000 rpms with nos and extra feul turned into a part throwing fire ball broke two con rods in half whent thru block shaterd intake. But crank came out and went into next motor and is still going thiss was the most violent motor failure ive had. And is th reason i wear a fire suit and have a winshild and a full face helmet without that safty gear i woulda got badly burned as whole car was a fireball had to bail out
  6. check heater fan realy should have green white stripe and red with white stripe heavy wires going to it
  7. I found a rack that will work 86 gl thanks for looking everyone still waiting for the new pistons to get here. Then if i can get away from the endless line of broken subaru engines to work on my own broken subaru engine. Has been a long week 5 engine jobs in a line 2 down 3 to go
  8. the aftermarket wp gaskets are very poor fitt i like the subaru one is way better and just say no to cheap pumps mind you it whouldent be a ea82 if it wasent leaking
  9. +1 fuse links by battery check that has power on both side of links check alt voltage no more than 14.50 I see thiss when alt is over chargeing
  10. i whould use a lefthand drill bitt thats just under the size of berring untill it hooked it and spinns it out
  11. Timing belt coged idler pully or trans mainshaft berring take off oil fillter dump it into clean bin and see if any meatal in it any meatal then on its way out if clean posibly somthing else. Do a manual oil preshure check min 10 psi hot at idle also time how long oil light takes to turn off should be of in one second or less
  12. Have been getting head that the valve guides are droping out down into the exhaust port last one was a 07 outback had 4 droped ex valve guides also had a 03 forester motor and a 01 outback motor all droped guides. When the drop the valve hitts them and it damages the end of guide and valve seal falls off I'm not shure if is from overheating or bad casting seems to only happen on #2#4 anyway if doing any head work CHECK HEIGHT OF EX VALVE GUIDES before doing any work on heads I also think this is why so many unexplaned misfire codes. Also a'm looking for valve guides that are machined with a snapring on them to pervent thiss from happening.
  13. Dam legacy axles are 1 inch longer pain in arse oh well had to re redoo the axles back to stock xt 6 axles with legacy iner ends for clearance to stering rod front end is back in and looks good gained some clearance and is way tighter now. My new pistons should be here today or tommorow then time to do engine agian.
  14. I whould plane the block down to increase the comp ratio before i whould change pistons with a good ea82 / late ea81 pistons it whould rev to 7000rpms all day. We had a ea71 in a buggy ran it to death it shatered all 4 pistons of the rods and still turned over and crank was ok pistons just came apart thiss one saw 8000rpm + for hours never jumped a push rod or bent a valve just broke pistons
  15. Any deul range that still works is gold starting to get rare have been hording them have 12 cores now i rebiuld them 6 at a time I also made a reverse shim that makes the reverse 70 % stronger and setup my press for doing subaru trans. They are not bad to fix at all and have seen them with 400000kms all the time and like new inside they only get damaged when we run big tires and lots of hp behind them. On my 79 wagon I can feel when its making to mutch hp for trans and I have to let out of it or blow trans mind you its 2.5 turbo twin cam the old deul range just holds the power
  16. Pistons to date 6 broke ea82 pistons 10 broken ej22 pistons 2 broken ez3.0 pistons 2 broken 2.7 pistons and 4 broken forged 2.5 pistons and two broken sti pistons and now one smashed ej 2.5 forged pistons ya i broke a few. Anyway thiss engine i fixed them and is in running condition exept i robed 3 injectors for turbo justy. Thiss engine is just to heavy for are race buggys free free free
  17. I know there is low pro pans for vw vans with subaru engines
  18. I heard there is a raybestos brake parts points program for US resadents any of you guys colect the points ? i get tons of them and is not avalibble to canadians anyone want them ? could save a pile and would give them away if somone colects them
  19. still in need of a rack but temp fixed it with a 81 gl rack and homemade tie rod extentions worked very well i can turn agian so new struts strut blocks cvs turbo leg on inside cv xt 6 on outside and new berrings ball joints and tie rods thiss will titen it up a bitt and give more clearance from cv to stearing
  20. any one i pushed over 6500 rpms even new ea71 piston have seen broken cant take the rpms. I whould never use a thick uper ring piston
  21. the weak point was the pistons at 15 psi boost shatered between the ring lands i broke two on same side replaced them with loyale pistons same pistons. I will not run it agian because it was heavy for the hp it made also it will not bolt up to my 4eat. Is a good motor was runing well after i fixed it and it reved to the moon best reving subaru motor to date
  22. The DR could be fixed perty easy as long as no gears are not damaged i fix jamed up ones all the time
  23. Whats wrong with your D R trans ? have 12 core ones and have taken many apart I may have parts to fix yours I will not sell any trans but will sell parts a working DR is gold. I rebiuld them 6 at a time so have many parts left over
  24. That part is the anti flow rollover valve not feul fill fillter should be up front just after the feul pump
