Frankenmotor question. Searched.
ivans imports replied to xbeerd's topic in NA Fuel Injection Engine Tech
the 2.5 twinn cam interfers in two ways the valves hitt the pistons and they HIT EACH OTHER the intake valve hitts the exhaust valve when out of time. Have built many 2.2 twinn cam engines work very good but had to use the turbo 2.2 headgasket slightly modifyed. I like to use the 2.2 crank in the 2.5 block gives you a 2.35 destroker motor about 8.0-1 then turbo it cheap turbo engine with bulletproof bottom end. -
is it hydrolic lifter engine ? theese engines have less hg problems as they use a grafite gasket but only in 95-96 check and see if says twinn cam on valve cover if do's should be good for 250000kms or more. Was doing hg on a 96 with 450000kms other day still running strong. all depends on how it was took care of

Pull whole dash 15 min drop coullum pull heater box out oh it helps that iv'e done about 60 of them and know every conector and clip and exactly what has to be undone and what dosent. The trick is to pull the whole dash in one peice dont take anything off it is only about 12 conectors two cables and a heater control conector. 45 min is the fastest iv'e been able to do the core in -

chemical treatment for heater core
ivans imports replied to djellum's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you get the omms wrong it will just run a bitt faster or slower. the heater cores i take the end tank off opposet the hoses and rod it out then reinstall the end tank. Lotts of flux and use 50/50 lead tin soilder thiss works very good most are pluged with calcium and sillacon takes me about 45 min to remove from car and about a hour to repair core. -

as far as i know the temp senser in the trans is for default if overheated not to tell tcu what temp the trans is. If the trans overheats to the point of turning on the AT light the fans will turn on to try and cool it. I have many auto outbacks that come thrugh so will test drive them all cold and see if there is a difference in how they shift hot /cold
-
i call bull i test drive them stone cold and shifts 1234 lockup even ice cold a delayed shift is caused by to mutch clearance in the forward clutch pack drum. Have never heard of it having to be a certan temp to work it makes no sense what whould be the purpose of waiting for it to be warm to shift ? what if you pull out strait onto freeway ice cold and need to hit speed having to wait to warmup to shift whould be unaxceptabble and dangerus.I cant belive subaru whould do thiss. I think there is more to your problem
