  1. No i did one yesterday a 06 outback had never been overheated and had only 95000kms on it was leaking oil on exhaust i fixed headgaskets the heads or block did no require surfaceing was still good shape could however see that the gasket had been moving and wearing at the head surface but just starting to even at thiss low of milage the coating on gasket was breaking down anyway it seems the sooner its done the less damage is done thiss is the lowest milage one iv'e done if it has over 150000kms on it gets rods and mains and rings. One the new ones i only plane heads /blocks if absulotly nesacary as the piston to head clearance is tighter
  2. plane heads for shure make shure its not a unrelated to headgasket problem have seen some 2.2 s leak where the block halfs are sealed by the red oring and dumps coolant into pan what was your engine doing ? after head job if gasket failed agian you whould see the damage on the gasket
  3. use a lengh of redy rod and some big washers to press it back together make shure you support the back berring when u press it togther and put outer seal in first but not iner till together
  4. its not the gasket thats the problem its the two aluminuim surfaces move as it heats up and cools down and rips gaskets apart also the gasket works like a reid and vibrates wearing down the aluminium
  5. oh and carb one the bottom of carb is two 12 mm plugs if removed you look striat in and there is two jets one main and one secondary any crap in carb like to get in there as is the lowest spot on carb check those jets and one the inlet line float valve seat is a small fillter that likes to plug up check that to
  6. need a job ? had to find somone who uses there head

  7. i have seen 25 dead engines cause of rotery tools takeing to mutch material off and the abrasives find there way into the oil and wipe berrings i have seen as mutch as 6 thow ground off when I put the block halfs on the planer you can realy see the damage mostly around the barrels on the lower side. Roto disks are for cast only and even then they are engine killers
  8. if it had ac pull the ac fuse on the ps side stut tower is in its own holder and will stop fans coming on its ment to turn on fans when in defrost mode
  9. All the newer subarus have headgasket problems the turbo ones just cost more to fix I had both gaskets next to eachother and saw no diferance that whould make it any better the shortblock is stonger thats all
  10. Thiss will get you guys going i use avinoinic form a gasket on evry headgasket i do always not to help it seal witch it do's but to insalate the gasket from the heat and vibrations so it holds up the gasket materials cant hold up to the vibrations and will tear the coatings off. I will never put a subaru headgasket on dry ever have done more than 60 headgasket jobs thiss year and all no comebacks or problems. But have had to redo many that were poorly done and headgaskets failed right after being done
  11. just plain jain NGK plugs the platnium ones and iridium one are hard to spark through and likes to jump down the side to ground have had many problems with thiss the simpler the plug the better it seems to work i do not like hot plugs in subaru engines. And i still think iceing could be a problem and should have more TB heat on a cold wett day could be a problem and would be no way to repiar it in air and the more throttle you give it the worse it whould get
  12. did a 06 outback headgaskets yesterday had only 95000kms on it the gasket were just starting to fail leaking oil on exhaust was a easy fix did not even have to plane heads were still in good condition just poor gaskets the gasket coating was already broken down even at thiss low of milage
  13. i bought a air chisel end that takes a impact socket the same size as hub one guy comes from back side of hub while other guy uses slide hammer thiss helps to get the hub out and saves arms
  14. the old ones like that had removeable cartriges that could be changed out if still avallible
  15. taking to long to let clutch out holds the car on the springs puts the whole wheight of car on those wimpy springs just hammers them out
  16. Make shure you get a oil preshure test no less than 10 psi hot at idle rest is ereavent as thiss was the big problem with 2.5s
  17. cam gear is eaten look down with light c if gear has theeth left
  18. Still waiting to hear back from the DOT about thiss was having a diferent problem with the old brat when you drive with one window down it smells like gas cant find any leaks and all feul syestem is dry only smells when window is down
  19. if your stuck you could try gentaly peening the aluminum outwards from cly to make that spot higher and then level it off could be fixed thiss way or plane them i charge 75 bucks to plane block haves while you watch
