Well Brett and his Wife came on Saturday and the Brat is gone. I am sad but these two are really going to make a happy home for the Squirrel. Best part of the sale is the Brat wouldn't stay running. Has to be a fuel issue. They tried to drive it around the block but she kept dying. I have never seen two people so happy to not be able to drive something they drove 9 hours to get, lol. Good luck to you both!

Ok, Brett you are two steps ahead of me, lol. I was going to lead you here as well and show you this great site. Lots of wonderful info and countless resources. By now I am sure you have read through the thread. You really can see where I have taken her. I am glad you are enthusiastic about taking her home and continuing. Like I stated in the for sale adds, she is not perfect but will be a fantastic foundation to finish. Congrats again.

O.C.D. replied to AdventureSubaru's topic in Members Rides
Your pics make me glad to live here in Colorado. Trip looks like a blast. thanks again for sharing. -
Holding as far as? Do you mean the WRX seats and frame mods? The stock framerails bolted to the mods I made. I did this in case I wanted to sell separately.
-
Was that last one a 4th gear pull?
-
Thank you both! I am scared it won't sell though. Anyone that wants one is on here, lol. Time will tell.

Well, I decided she is not going to go any further under my wings. She is for sale. http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/4029167876.html PM me if interested. Jon

Wow, that Hawkeye and GR WRX look like they mean some business!!! Guy knows what he is doing...

Looking good, now get some rims 5x100 bolt pattern with about a 48 offset should work. Thinking 18x8" et48. Then she will be styling!

Short answer for the tick - Subaru Short answer for the lurching - bad factory tune. Subaru intentionally sends these out the door with a bad lean condition that is more harmful to the engine than a tune. I had a 2011 and it was the same. Do yourself a favor and get a Stage 1 tune. It really helps the fuel mappings and lurching. You will not find many here to help you with a 2013. Head to NASIOC.com and start reading!!!

Ah, but paint means priming. Priming means sealing. Sealing means bodywork. Bodywork means filling. Filling means sanding to bare metal, lol. You get the drift. If I really keep going I know it wont be ready for a while and I am just about finished. What I have listed up there is FAR less than what needs to be done.

EA71 and Weber connections
O.C.D. replied to O.C.D.'s topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I went with a non-kit Weber DGEV (electric choke) and the Redline adapter plate. I finally got everything routed properly and after some electrical issues she has been running great. Well running great except for an occasional afterfire, lol. I used the Hitachi linkage with some washers for the throttle. Works great. She seems to have a bit more power but the cool factor is the sound when the second barrel opens up. Sounds like a V8, lol. -
New clutch not working after install.

I would say a few beers have been harmed during this build, lol. Garage time is my sanity time - no wife or kid. Just me, a project, tools, music and beer for a few hours a week. Used to be a lot more but what can ya do. -
1980 Brat - Radiator switch wiring.
O.C.D. replied to O.C.D.'s topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Thank you I will check. I have looked for this thinking it should be about there location wise but nothing. And you are right, these harnesses always seem hacked. -
Well, I am not sure my Son will get the chance as he is 6 months old. It was an ambitious project for the non-kid guy in me. I thought about giving it to my Brother but he has kids as well. In the end I am seeing the need for a boat anyway. The Wife is really hinting at that lately and I think it is time I oblige her wants as well. Trying to be less selfish I guess.... When it comes down to it all that remains is: Rest of the body prep. Painting. Brakes need a once over. Might need a cv or bearing in the front. Lighting gremlins. I am debating if fixing these things is worth it or just throwing her on Craigslist.

Well done Sir, well done!

1980 Brat - Radiator switch wiring.
O.C.D. replied to O.C.D.'s topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
K, either I am not getting this or I am just stumped. The the fan has two wires coming from it. The harness up to the fan has two wires coming from it. Unless I am losing it I assumed that these plugged in together. The leads off both are offset and seem to be what was intended but I cannot say. So you are saying I need to wire the switch to the negative off the fan and then run a hot to the other from the battery. That would remove the two wires that are connected to the fan right now. What are those two wires for then? -
3" PVC to the rescue!! Nice job molding that in.

I thought so as well. The Baby has really changed my priorities in a good way. The Squirrel will do me no good at this point in my life. She will just sit there and take up space. I am not sad though; I love the project and have had a blast. She will be a good catch for someone. Thanks, been a long rebuild, lol.

1980 Brat - Radiator switch wiring.
O.C.D. replied to O.C.D.'s topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Yes, understood. I have the radiator grounded to the core but nothing coming off the switch. This is what I am after. My switch has no wiring to it. Thanks
