Basic sound system install

Here is what I used - same thing. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029KA7W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -
New to USMB. Heres my 99' subaru legacy outback wagon.

Nice second Gen Outback!!! I was wondering the size of those rims as they look huge. I wonder what a single wheel/tire weighs with those 19's? Overall she looks great though. I would paint match those rims to your upper body color though. That silver does detract from the dual tone paint theme. Those Outbacks are always hard on wheel color choice. -
Hoard away - we know where to get parts then, lol., Get that thing painted! Can't wait to see the Fire Engine Red all done up.

Powder on the rims or paint? Looks great. -
Ok, real lightning? Can't tell. Cool pic though.
-
Ah yes, I remember now. Can't believe I didn't correlate them together, lol. I called shenanigans on the speed of the build, lol. That was cause I wanted more info and pics. Well done indeed.

Well, the Squirrel is about to come out of garage hibernation and get some love finally. Picked up some '02 WRX seats for her. Almost want to put them in the Legacy, hmmmm..... Speaking of Legacy she went Stage 2 this last weekend. Can't wait for the tune to finish. And since I don't want to start another thread here is some eye candy. COBB FTW!!! Snagged some JDM 5Zigen wheels as well. Refinishing them as we speak. So maybe next time this thread will be update with work on the "Vintage Subaru", lol.

And that is why I should have joined the military, lol. If only I had thought more. Beautiful car and seldom seen on this forum. Glad we are getting a few modded late model STI's and WRX's around here lately. I have been modding my LGT lately and am tuning for stage 2 right now. Love Subies!!!

Trying to find tires for my brat
O.C.D. replied to MattyH's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Very interesting /\ -
Don't mean to be "that guy" but that bumper didn't look like it did its job in that crash? Or maybe the mounting points were weak and it just gave and pushed down? Either way I would be looking to reinforce those mounts. Now, that is a damn nice Baja!!! Really looks apocalyptic in nature, lol.

Sweet I just scored some '02 WRX seats for my '80 Brat, lol. Gotta feel good right?
-
Sweet, a battery that costs more than the car, lol. How'd you like that Weber swap?
-
I agree but I need to do this as well. So maybe this will give me some inspiration? Mucho pics por favor.
-
$100 bucks!!! Man I waste $100 too often on crap. A whole Brat though, nice score!

The BRZ/FR-S rims pop up alot on NASIOC and LGT. I have seen a few Legacies running them. I almost bought a set but they are too narrow.

Basic sound system install

He he, nice thermostat. /\ Nice USB power supply. "1978" Subaru Engineers - "Use the cigarette lighter to do what? How would you power something through a what, a USB port? Oh, a portable phone. Wait, what is that? You mean a phone you can take out of your home?!" -

1st order of business - PLEASE REMOVE THOSE TIRES, and maybe the rims, lol.

Basic sound system install
O.C.D. replied to sjschlag's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Make is easy, just install the single DIN in the glovebox. I searched everywhere for a Clarion radio for the Brat and it may or may not work. Either way it fills the location and is stock. Run a single DIN in the glovebox with new speaker wire under the dash and under the carpet to the rear. Get some 6x9's and put them in enclosures. That way you are not hacking anything and you have a better bass response as well. Ground the deck and run the hot to the battery. Rewire/extend the antenna and you have radio as well. Boom - a newage sound system for your vintage Subie. Easy cheesie. -
Great read through all of this!! I especially love the shattered EJ. You should keep the "EJ22" and JB Weld it back together then trim the edges. Would make a cool badge.
-
Argh - part number for the switch please. Was going OEM but never found the aftermarket number. Thanks.
-
But what is most important - why is your Brat so dirty? That is odd patterning for road salt/debris?
