  1. Thanks for moving it. I will refer to the historic area in the future. Here is a pic:
  2. Maybe 15 years or so?! Once they become "old".
  3. I have forgot about this thread as it was in the wrong forum?! I have been working on this like crazy and have tons of pics. I am going to start a build thread in the older forum soon.
  4. That is a beautiful gen 1!!! Thank you for sharing the pics.
  5. I sheared mine off last night and Subaru discontinued the part. Anyone happen to have one they can part with please? Thanks.
  6. Something as simple as lug nuts can really freak you out. I have done that as well and drove around for a couple of days with my Jeep. Huge face palm when I realized how stupid I was. Live and learn. Nice thread to read by the way.
  7. Cool, one person saw the post, lol. I kidd I kidd. I agree, I think the sheet metal template will work just fine. Guess I will just do it and see.
  8. So I did the conversion and other than being a danger to myself, it went well. Did this to a 1980 Brat. Be very careful getting the final hole size drilled out with a drill press. I snapped a few bits and threw a drum into the wall. Then the drum cracked the outer lip. Scared the you know what out of me. Could not find the right bit anywhere in town so I used a 9/16". With the new studs I still had to hammer them in. Success in my eyes. Had to do some grinding of course. Just you you know my idea worked cause of the math. If you recall I made this drawing: This was to fit 15"x7" wheels with a 4.5" BS. I then mounted 205 50 R15's on these wheels. Here is the stock 13" with the 15" With these wheels and tires I cleared barely and I stick out about an inch all around. This is exactly as I wanted. I now have a crazy idea for the Subaru center caps. The center bore of the new wheels is way to big for the stock caps. My idea is this. Get 4 pieces of 18-20 gauge sheet metal and weld a couple edges together. Then I will use this template printed to scale and drill out the holes in all four pieces. I will get the stock wheel center bore and drill that out as well. After cleaning up the sheet metal, making hub sized large circles and then painting them white, I will then fit this in between the new wheels and hubs. Once completed I can then insert my stock center caps and voila. I will be rocking stock center caps on after market wheels. What is bad about doing this? The lug nuts will still center the wheels and the sheet metal ring will float in between but will of course be sandwiched in there and not move. I guess it will be a very small spacer? What do you all think about this idea? Jon
  9. I actually sold a brand new WRX after I bought my Brat. The feeling I get driving it makes me happier than a 300hp WRX?! Guess it is how you look at life?! I might be getting old enough to care about being slow and different. Enter the Gen 1 Brat, lol.
  10. Right on! I am always glad to see the Gen 1's come to the surface. Good luck finding parts, lol. Really though, they are rare for parts but a lot of people on here will help ya out.
  11. Not many cool pics of mine but here is the Squirrel with new shoes after the 6-lug swap last weekend:
  12. I will claim ignorance on a couple things but I will also ask to learn. Why are you plugging those ports on the block? Are they part of the pcv valve setup? And that aluminum plate you made. What are you blocking off? And my last question, are these not a bog deal to remove then? Should we all do this or?.... Thanks.
  13. Oh, and by the way here is your tail light. I bought all NOS lenses for my '80 Brat from this guy in the UK. He is super cool and quick to ship. May be more than the states but guess what, there are very few in the states. And if anyone else is needing lenses he still has some NOS sets. I think I paid about $160 total for all 4 lenses for my Brat. Just an fyi.
  14. As you are not going for a full resto I would buy some different seats. Reupholstering is going to be near that cost anyways. Heck, new ones are always better anyway.
  15. Ya can't just come on here and throw out a Rex swapped GL10 and give a small blurb and some end pics, c'mon, lol. Need moar info on this one.
  16. That is going to be a scary STI, um er, Vintage coupe!!! Very impressed as we all are.
  17. Odd that you mentioned Wayne. My Wife was poking fun at me cause I love my Brat so much. Did the 6-lug swap last weekend and was all proud. She said, "it isn't like Wayne from CCC is going to come buy it!" I about fell over died. Nice build log. As I read through it I became very thankful that my title issue was not an issue like yours. Congrats on getting her all legit.
  18. Good to know, just saw it done on tv with an auto oven.
  19. I say make a buck and then form plexi over it. Should be easy enough and completely original. But then again where will you find an oven to warm the plexi? Guess you could use an auto paint hardener booth or powder coat oven if you had one.
  20. Hope I wasn't coming across as ungrateful Todd. I am most certainly happy with them just wanted to point out what mine looked like. As they are old I understand their condition. Don't want to deter anyone from getting these as it is pretty much our only option for the gen 1 guys.
