If this is still a thing, I blew the head gasket on my 2.2, and found a frankenmotor "kit" to swap in. If this is still a thing, I'd love in. Craig

I haven't posted on the forum since I'm not very experienced and don't feel I really have much to contribute to this forum, but I may have something after changing the timing belt in my '96 Legacy L wagon. The crank pulley was severely overtorqued (didn't come loose with either my dad or I on a breaker bar in 5th gear, e brake on, braced against the passenger's fender with ~1/2 revolution) and as it turned out had RTV as a Loctite substitute. My dad has a Bridgeport mill, so that's how I made the tool, but it could be done with a drill press and band saw in a pinch. Dimensions are the following: 5/16" Gr 8 bolts on 3.15" centers 1.25" center hole 1" flats for holding with a wrench It took me about 2 hours, but would take less time if fly cutting, digging tools out of the mess of a shop, precision machining, etc. aren't an issue.

They sound too rich for my blood, but maybe when I graduate with a BS in electrical engineering next summer I'll have a little more scratch to flow. :-) I'd guess you'd need a 45* fixture plate and a dividing head or rotary table with a mill to make those center lockers manually. It'd probably be cheaper in terms of dollar value for your time to have them, or at least the sprockets, made. The clamshells wouldn't be too bad, just kind of a pain to fixture in a manual mill. I'd probably recommend making soft jaws if you want to do even limited production. Just my thoughts from the SolidWorks drawings and 3D printed models you showed. Keep asking weird questions though! I'm working on selling it now anyway to make a down payment to my dad for a '96 Legacy L with about 90k fewer miles. :-)

Right on. I've taken a few machining classes too, partly to be more valuable as an engineer, partly because I just want to be better at it, and partly to be more valuable to the shop. Just got done with MasterCAM 1. -

Sorry if I'm dredging up an old topic (relatively), but has anyone tried the 98+ Intrepid springs? I'd rather control my Loyale's body roll a bit. :-) Craig

Hi, I live in Corvallis and have a Loyale. Is there a half decent way other than an EJ swap to make it a bit less gutless? I just found out my O2 sensor's wire is broken, and I'm thinking that might help things a touch, as well as my surging idle and some other strange issues.
My problem is that the body has a few decent rust spots and I don't really want to throw a lot of time, energy, and money at a car with that kind of issue. Also, I'm a college student and don't have the time or money to throw at it in the first place.
Finally, I spoke with a friend of a friend in Albany who's doing an EJ22T swap on his Loyale. Thought you might be interested in that project. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I was wondering if you could email me the EA to EJ swap info. Both links you gave seem to be dead, possibly because it's an old topic, I didn't look. But I have a '90 Loyale, and while this one has more rust than I think is worth messing with, but I hope to replace it with another of the same generation eventually, and then it might be cool to do the EJ swap.
