Check this out, same felpro part number.. Purchased at the exact same time, look how different they are. The materials are totally different lol, the one on the right is stamped Canada and is much heavier. I'm so done with the current composite aftermarket head gaskets on the ea82t.

I talked to John at gaskets to go, he will have a quote for me tomorrow. I wanted to make some subtle changes, or more exacting hole sizes etc to be specific.. as the aftermarket gaskets vary in actual dimensions. I will have an OEM gasket in my hands on Monday/Tuesday at the latest and it will go out the fastest USPS possible per his shipping instructions. As well as my stensils /tracings of the head and block. Generally the head bolt holes in the gasket vary from 12-13mm, I was trying to consider if I or anyone else would ever use larger head studs.. Was just trying to think ahead, if it costs me more initially but has benefits later I'm all for it. I'm not bs'ing here I have cash in hand for the first 2 sets, eta is how ever long it takes to ship the reference gasket to thailand and his tooling/production times (3-7 weeks total). 1990 Loyale RS Coupe - seeking information
Ibreakstuff replied to Arghetlam's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Cars101 has some basic info, but really searching here is your best bet for all things ea82. The chassis platform and engine are both commonly referred to as ea82. Also called Leone in europe/asia (3rd gen Leone more specifically). The coupe is referred to as a 3 door runabout in the FSM's. The Loyale RS is basically the same car as a GL 3 door from 87-89. Looks similar to a RX/GL turbo with the spoiler and front air dam. Your motor is a 1.8L SPFI boxer, rumored to originally be designed as a 2.0L. Has the same bore size as an ej20. If I was to run h-stock in a 3door, my first thing would be check/replace every vac line and rubber hose under the hood. And to make sure the pcv system is working.. search "ea82 spfi pcv fix". Next would be to get new kyb struts and RX or wagon springs to stiffen up the suspension. Then spend the rest of your budget on tires and brakes. If you have more specific questions, bring it! Have fun! -
Called my local stealership today and was shocked to find that only 13 oem head gaskets are left in the country? I ordered one just to compare the latest OEM part# (11044AA013) against my felpro gasket, before shipping to G2G. They are probably the exact same cutout tho. Are there any design changes to recommend for MLS production? Anyone have input on this?

Hrmm, I'd be interested to see what Vin it has. Definitely a cool car, perhaps they were running low on edm trim on the line and just grabbed some newly injected moldings destined for the usdm market? We have seen stranger things. I love the 3door tho, my favorite chassis. I have 3 ATM lol, 2x 56b RX's and a 55b gl10 turbo. My wife hates them ROFL. Looking at the pic gallery, it literally has the exact same interior as my 1887 gl turbo. Even the blue seats and door cards.

Front wheel drive spring options
Ibreakstuff replied to Danger.Woods's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Fwd ea82 wagon springs should be stiffer, there is a oem spring rate chart out there if you search deep enough. jeszek has some great posts regarding springs from other makes.- 4 replies

The usdm loyale rs only came as a 3door runabout, not all of them were turbo(some spfi). And the side moldings still said loyale. It had just stickers saying rs. Looked exactly like that photo but red and with a black rear spoiler. They are fairly rare might have only been a 1990 option. Think gl10 coupe badged loyale. But pre1990 loyale is an oddity for sure.

94 Loyale won't idle well
Ibreakstuff replied to nick1208's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like a vac leak, look for a loose or broken/cracked hose. -
More specifically, the 7th digit is the model identifier. Eg: 2: DL 3: GL 4: GL10 5: GL10 Turbo 6: RX Turbo
-
Yes, absolutely. And you could order certain options, like the LSD rear or dual range 5MT. There are some oddities out there too, subaru did all kinda of weird $#!+over the years.
-
Per my FSM's, 55B is a GL10 Turbo. Its still a fairly rare car, just not a true RX. I actually don't see an option 55B in a 3door runabout, so its a special order?!? You could always email SOA about it too. The 56B gets color matched side skirts, air dam, and rear spoiler.

Necro'ing my own post lol... Sorry I have been away for so long, I've been struggling with back pain since my accident last year. The progress made here has been amazing! Sometime soon I will be documenting a full ea82t motor build with a bunch of goodies (and maybe the aftermath if I grenade it). I have a spare of felpro 9392pt gasket(s), I'll get it in the mail to gaskets to go. I'd really like to get MLS gaskets soon, as I now have 2 disassembled ea82t motors to play with.. And coincidentally, I now have 2 RX's too. Once bitten by the EA82 bug, how the hell does one have enough room to horde everything?

I use a rag or a paper bag to wedge the socket onto the crank bolt to keep it from falling out/stripping as well. It sounds a lot more scary than it is lol. The alternative would be to wedge something into the flywheel. Good luck!

Re the crank pulley: If you have a 2-3 foot breaker bar, you can prop it against the subframe near the battery and bump the starter (key it for only a split second) and it will break loose.
