I recently bought a 98 Outback sport and have seen a few of them driving around with the spoilers and wondering if anyone had any idea where i could buy one? Or if anyone has one they would like to sell then I would be interested!
-
do you have to take it out through the bottom or can it come out of the top?
-
So i took a look at my radiator and it looked pretty bad so i decided to just go ahead and buy a new radiator and thermostat. Im currently removing the old radiator and it looks like a pretty tight fit to get it out of the car, do i need to remove any part of the bumper or should i take out the fan or something?
-
183xxx miles and yes it is the original radiator

Its at highway speeds, havent had much of a chance to look but i know my coolant is at a normal level, i think i might be having problems with my fan

The past few days have been hot for portland and my 88 gl-10 has been running pretty hot and today it broke into te red zone on the temp gauge from just driving for 30 minutes in 100 degree weather. It also runs very hot if i turn AC on. Any ideas?

it was a $20 ebay special.
no intercooler. i was driving around 30-50 below zero during the winter. so it wasnt as necessary, but installing one is pretty easy.
the power level increases alot the colder it gets.
i aslo cut the exhaust off right before the 2nd cat.(i put it back to sell it)
the p/o had gutted the down pipe cat already.
drifting a wagon at 60mph is what dreams are made of.
i lol'd when an sti tried to out drift me.. and he has 300+ hp and a rear ebrake
i still won.
(in the snow anyways)
i really miss that car.
So its pretty easy to install the boost controller? Where does it go? and that pretty impressive that you were getting 10 psi out of it. Maybe If i get a top mount for my car I will order one of those.
-
If you take out the cats, you gain some boost with out messing with the engine.
I removed one of them and it seemed to help a bit but I didn't want to take out both because i figured I would lose all back pressure.
-
I had a cheepo ebay boost controller on mine set for 10psi made quite a differnence
I put 6k hard boosted red lined miles on it And its still going strong
Could you tell me the brand/model of your boost controller? Did you put an intercooler on your car or anything else besides that?
-
Hahah yeah i didnt think there was really anything i
Could do but i was curious because there has been alot
Of things on this website that i learned about the old ea82's but oh well i guess i better start saving up for that ej!

update: I ended up removing the exhaust right before the second cat and It is ALOT louder than it was before, but I really don't want my exhaust just dumping right under my seat so I am just going to buy a flange and weld it to a pipe with my cherry bomb and have it go out the side of the car like you suggested, then i can just unbolt that and put my stock exhaust when needed for DEQ
-
I have a stock 88 gl-10 and I would like to do somethings to maybe make it a little bit faster without doing a full ej swap so any one have any suggestions for what I could do?

I have a little 300 lb pop up trailer that i would like to pull around with my 88 gl10 wagon. I have found some trailer hitches online but im not trying to spend a lot of money. Does anyone know where i can get a used one or one that would fit from a different car? I want one that has a 1.25 inch reciever.

Does anyone know what the emission laws are like in oregon? Don't worry though if i do get in trouble for it i wont tell on you guys

Wow that ""outback limited" is pretty cool. Yeah It would be nice to see a picture of what he did to put those seats in though

OBK25XT installed my glasspack where my muffler was... I also have hollowed out cats... but heres what mine sounds like:
Its quite loud.
Another question for you, how much work is required to hollow out the cats? Are they welded onto the exhaust or bolted? I was looking at mine today and the heat sheild around it was tack welded together so i didnt take it apart to take a look
-
Ya know, I... *thinks*
I may have done something like this... drove like 100 miles... then was cleaning out engine bay and got some water in the exhaust piping and started the car and watched it flow out of the glasspack (incline) and indeed I think Ned is a lot louder now than he was before then...
Hmmm interesting! I might have to try this, I like the beastly sound of Ned and according to the other things ive seen online about doing this, it doesnt cause any damage in the long run. It has something to do with the glass in the muffler actually cracking. How long has it been since this happened to you?
-
Yes my car is an EA82

Do seats from 90s subarus mount in the old 80s gls? If not, what seats do mount up to the old 80's subarus?
-
I heard that if you drive around and get the glasspack nice and hot and then spray some water in it it will break up the glass and make it louder? This sounds pretty stupid to me but does it actually work or does it make it sound bad?

I actually found this video on youtube about a week ago and thats what made me go out and buy my glasspack

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess I will wait a week or two before I do anything but if it comes down to it I might just hollow out one of the cats. I just want to have a little more bark haha.

I have an 88 subaru gl-10 1.8 turbo and I want it to be louder. I put a glasspack on it yesterday and the tone changed a bit but overall its not any louder. Any suggestions? Its a weld on glass pack and i just put it where the muffler used to be. Is it the catalytic converters that is quieting it down so much?
