EA82 pedal box into EA81
turbosubarubrat replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The term basicly means off road toy or off road rig. -
The inner fenders on mine needed some massaging to clear. I trimmed enough on my fenders to clear about 30's or 31's for when i get different tires.

EA82 pedal box into EA81
turbosubarubrat replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It works good. I left it there as the bump stop since it was like that in the gl-10, but i will never use the switch because the pedal box is in my wheeler. -
The bell housing bolt patterns are different from a ea71, ea81, and ea82. The fat case bell housing came with the later ea71 cars 79-88 2nd gen body cars. They were the bottom models with no options. There are a few 3rd gen cars in the states that came with ea71's that have fat case bell housings too. I meant was it would be easier just to find a ea81 and bolt a 5 speed d/r to it. You already have 2 holes for shifters in the floor you might as well use them both.

Fenders look like they might need to be cut for tight turns.
-
It's easier to just change the whole thing. If i remember right it's just 4 bolts in storage compartment and 2 small bolts on the bottom corners.
-
mt5 means 5 speed manual trans. at6 means automatic 6 speed transmission which isn't a thing for a ea82. They came with a 3at and extremely rare with a 4at.

EA82 pedal box into EA81
turbosubarubrat replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I did it in my hatch about a month ago. I measured the throw difference and noticed they were different so i combined the two. -
EA82 pedal box into EA81
turbosubarubrat replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ea81 on left, turbo ea82 middle, and ea82 on the right ea81 with ea82t clutch half welded on heated up the pedal with the torch and bent it until it was far enough from the brake peddle. -
Runs and drives. Still need to finish up the brake line extensions to be able to drive it safely. My snap-on metric double flaring tool should come monday. Went to oriley's, car quest, and napa neither of them had a metric one . I tried a american one but couldn't get a good enough flare because the die was way to small and would bent the brake line side ways. I could of went to my one my buddies shops to make a die on the lathe or turn down one that was to large but chose just to wait and work on other stuff.

interswapping EA81 and EA82 struts !
turbosubarubrat replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I used a ea82 cross member, power steering rack, axles, control arms, knuckles, hubs, rotors, and calipers. ea81 radius rods, radius rod mounts, brake lines with extensions, ea81 to ea82 crossmember blocks, ea81 to ea82 strut blocks. 6" or 5" is about the minimum lift for this mod. -
interswapping EA81 and EA82 struts !
turbosubarubrat replied to jono's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Or you can have swap in a whole ea82 front end -
Shifter linkage still needs some work but it works for now. I went to car quest for the coolant hoses and got them using the part numbers Gloyale posted. Was about $20 for the 2 hoses on my account. Now she has new coolant so i can run her longer. Starts up good just loud being straight piped until tomorrow when i finish up the exhaust.

Verdurous's 1989 GL Hatch Build Thread
turbosubarubrat replied to Verdurous's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I ended up using the old bushings off my hatch with the new struts and the pins with c clips that came in the kit. When i did it on one of my wagons i used bolts double nutted and it worked just as good. -
Lookin' for a Front Li'l Lift
turbosubarubrat replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Common fix for the rubber coming off is to drill and bolt it. Found this pick in another thread looks like they replaced the old rubber while doing this too. What i ended up doing on my hatch to drop the linkage 6 inches.- 88 replies

EA82 Hard start when hot.
turbosubarubrat replied to Rust's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
F'd up ecm maybe? On a ea81t i had, the ecm would not run the pump sometimes and other times it would. I replaced the fuel pump since it only worked the first time i started the car after it sat 7 years. When it did run it ran rough and almost acted like it was missing with that ecm. The car came with a spare one so i put it on and she purred like a kitten and ran like new with 136k. -

EA-81 Turbo question
turbosubarubrat replied to Early Rider Steve's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You probably already have a ea82t on it since the factory ea81 turbos only had oil to cool them, so they got cooked. -

Get a EGR delete plate or make one and run a weber with no cat. -
Refers to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen leones 1st 2nd 3rd
-
Get rear disks off a turbo 3rd gen. Your master cylinder or brake booster might not be what the used too also. He has a 1st gen brat

I remember seeing this somewhere on here and watching it on youtube. There was talk about a ej swap when the ea82t blows?
