EA81T miss, stumble and no start.
turbosubarubrat replied to SoobDood05's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Go to the junkyard and get the external pump off a fuel injected f-250 with dual tanks. On the two ea81t's i had those worked great. The pumps are bosch. If you don't get one of those get one that has a minimum of 31psi, since that is what is need for stock boost. -
Fuel lines and heater hoses hooked up Put some tape on the hose in case it rubs on the starter. I managed to bend the hard line some so the hose would clear the steering linkage without rubbing.

5 speed cross member welded together Lift blocks braced Engine and trans are in but ended putting them in separate .Put on a new oil filter and put in new oil. I need to get the trans cross member bolted up so i can find out what i need to do for a drive line. The drive line needs to go in so i can fill her will oil to start her up for the first time being ej'd. Still need to put the ea82 fi pump on and upgrade some fuel lines, front brake line extensions, shifter linkage, and a bunch of other stuff.

The popular choice where i live is to lift them and drop in a snow mobile engine so they can go 80 mph. -
Rear bumper fitted in and 2200 emblem on. left ea81 pedal box, middle ea82t, and right ea82. left ea82, right ea81 with ea82t clutch peddle grafted on Had to light up the torch and doctor the clutch pedal since my feet are too big to have them close together especially in boots.

Picked up a set of 29's mounted to 6 lug white spokes for $50. The right side of the tire has a couple inches of clearance not shown since pic because it is at a angle. I made the rear 6 lug hubs tonight and got one side mounted up. jack is down.

Hatch struts are on and i started disassembling the legacy for the ej swap.

The 2200 emblem on the hatch will make up for it.

Kind of off topic, but what plug wires did you use on the carb'd ej22? I'm building one and am curious what you used. -
Bought a set of hatch struts yesterday off ebay for $31 so i don't have to use a ax to keep it up
-
They didn't. They make a ee20 diesel engine now, but the engine it's self in the states cost about 5-6 grand. I've heard of people swapping in the newer vw engines that have 300 horse into brats
-
Sounds like napa F'ed you over. There is 2 different axles. Turbo and non turbo. The cups for the transmission on the turbos have larger stub shafts with a 25 spline while non turbos have smaller 23 spline shafts.

You will either need to get a fat case ea71 bell housing or swap the motor with a ea81 or ej. -
Used a ea82 manual steering extension with only minor modification. Which can be done with a die grinder. The joint on the top needs more room for rotation so you grind down the part of it that hits until both sides have the same movement. I couldn't get the adjusting part to come off the linkage so i cut it and welded it. Which ended up not needing to happen if i grinded down the joint first.

My place kind of. I would want to live up somewhere out of Sandy to get out of the DEQ range which is supposed to be around wild cat.

Rear disk conversion done. Minus doing the 6 lug conversion. The rotors just have surface rust from setting.
