I finally took apart a destroyed ea81 i had and put the bell housing next to a ea71. It will not work it has a completely different bolt pattern so i didn't even bother looking further into it. Since there isn't enough support to drill any more holes in it. bertmann73 is right about the rear seals and crankshaft size too. I'm sure the ea82 is the same way. The ea82 is a great engine if taken care of. A lot of people on here say they are crap and aren't worth keeping. They can last in the 350k range without a rebuild. My dad had 7 different ea82 wagons none of them ever had any major problems he just liked fixing and selling after driving everywhere with them. They're not a power maker for sure but still better than a ea71. -
No offense or anything but, if you want to do things "Right" wouldn't you already know how to do it in the first place and not need to ask how to do it. Your 7 options are: 6 lug conversion or other bolt pattern re-drills. custom rims bolt pattern adapter drill rims peugeot finding rare 14" or 15" 4x140 rims special order tires I have done the 6 lug conversion my self it's super easy to do. The results are great if you use a transfer punch and a good drill press. If you don't like having the extra holes in the hubs or rims weld them up. I don't blame you for not wanting to drill holes in the rims since some of the holes are in sketchy spots depending on the rims. But these are the cheapest options. To help widen the search on the 14" and 15" six lug rims they also came on chevy luv's and other chevy trucks, toyota's, mitsubishi's, ford's, and datsun's.

Ej22 with adapter plate mated to a 5 speed d/r. From what i've seen your going to need a 8" plus lift so they don't rub like crazy. Which at that point you might as well put on solid axels and a t-case.

The guys names are Mike Apple and Brandon Solsten. I forgot what their user names are, but their 1st gen wagons are lowered and the ea71's are turbo'd. Both guys can be found on facebook. -
Transmission/Clutch Problem

Unbolt all the linkage and work on it off the car. Some of the bushing are the same as the new cars so you can go to subaru and match them up. -

You could try to make the ea82 bell housing fit on the ea71 engine but i'm sure it's a different bolt pattern. I would think you would have to drill new holes in it but the problem would be getting everything to line up right. I would try to find a rare ea71 fat case bell housing or find a ea81 and put a weber on it. -
Or carry more than one spare. Some people bring their off road tires in the back of their brat and wait to put them on until they get to wheeling. Once their done wheeling they put the street tires back on. If you did this you would have to blow 5 tires which is highly unlikely and by that time people would be wondering wtf your doing to pop them.

Fixed all the pics in the thread. Also forgot to mention i ordered a dash cover for this off jc whitney it should be here sometime next week.

Towed her down to DEQ today and passed . Planning on going to DMV on monday and getting new plates and tags then to state farm to get insurance swapped back on. Moved the the front snow tires(studs pulled they came that way on the brat) to the rear and put a set of stud less snow tires on the front. Also washed her down and cleaned out the bed since i'm going to start stripping it to prime and bed line maybe tomorrow depending if the bed is dry or not. The radio still needs a adapter plate made which might happen tomorrow also. Test results: Hydrocarbons 55, standard 220 Carbon monoxide 0.185, standard 1.0

Add a lug nut for a spacer to see if that helps.

Stock alts are still available, but close enough in price to be worth just swapping one on, and yes more amps to run stereo, lights, and winches. With normal use it makes it so the lights don't dim when using turn signals or have your stereo on since you have a few extra amps to handle it. Because the stock pulley is setup for a regular v-belt while a maxima's is iirr a 5 rib belt. -

What you are hearing is a noisy/bad hydraulic lifter. I also take it the weather is cold which can take a huge part in how it sounds. What weight of oil are you using? There are a couple oil discussions on here what you should run in a ea81/ea82 in what temperature. Also have you tried a oil treatment like stp or seafoam? My hatch back has a lifter that is noisy as hell too. I just live with it since the ea81 thats in it is out of a free brat that had the transmission pulled and had been sitting since 04 with a broken speedometer cable at 198k, so i had no clue what was going to be wrong which turned out to be nothing. I haven't done anything to the engine besides put a weber on it, maxima alt upgrade, emissions deleted besides egr, valve cover gaskets, rtv oil pan gasket, oil change, and oil treatment.
