  1. Exedy clutch came in the mail today and engine gasket kit shouldn't be to far behind. Took the heads to the machine shop last friday to get resurfaced and 3 leaking valves ground. Picked them up yesterday and it only cost $130 to get that done. Also bought a ej to ea adapter plate from Prwa101 over a week ago. I'm thinking i'm going to go with a carb since it makes it simpler, easier to work on, and less stuff to go wrong. Plus i would need to get a parts car to get everything i would need for fuel injection system or spend a hell of a money at pick n pull. If i don't like it carb'd i can always swap it to fuel injection.
  2. Cut off the front clip and pulled the bad motor out. Put in another motor that has 141k on it which is a know good motor. Was ran in my red brat for awhile. Even got the intake stripped down/ready for the weber, weber adapter plate made, weber 32/36 dfav fitted and linkage modified to work backwards.
  3. Whats wrong with the transmission in the car? If it only has 82k it shouldn't be bad already unless it wasn't treated good. Is it slipping, grinding, clunking?
  4. While the heads are off you should have them resurfaced and have the leaking valves ground or all ground. A set of my heads are getting resurfaced and 3 valves ground for $180. I'm only doing the 3 since none of the others leak from the test so why fix something that ain't broken. Plus it would cost $310 for a resurface and all 16 valves ground not including if you have a bent or burnt valve which are a little over $10 a piece.
  5. It would help to know what wires fried/got hot. Is the coil fuse blown? What about a fuse link?
  6. It only has the high since autos are push button 4wd or awd with center diff lock.
  7. Sell the heads to some one with a ea81t. If some one needs them they will pay good money for them since they're almost impossible to find.
  8. From what the few things i've found it says Walt Biggers had a part in it. But i can not say that right or wrong.
  9. Just bought a adapter plate from him today they're great quality and fit on perfectly with no play at all. You could say they fit nice and snug. I will definitely buy another one if i ever ej swap my hatch.
  10. Pulled and bought a 5 speed d/r yesterday from pick n' pull with a 1 year warranty.
  11. YOU DON'T WANT SPLIT RIMS. If you don't know what your doing their extremely dangerous. That's why very few places will deal with split rims at tire places. Les schwab will if they have a tire cage in case it explodes. Some of the older guys will but that's about it. The only tires our farm brings to les schwab is the ones mounted on split rims like fork lifts, tractors, old dually rims, ect. Please watch both these videos they explain and show what happens better than i can.
  12. Like this Fiat 128 truck currently on portlands craigslist BMW 2002 Truck i've seen this one in person weird looking thing Plymouth scamp / Dodge rampage. JesZeck i just gave you some more pics for your strange weird subaru stuff thread.
  13. They pry off "okay" just take your time to work the tape off instead of breaking the emblem. They're held on by double sided foam trim tape which can be bought at a auto parts store or online(3-M makes a couple types). The factory manual shows trying to take it off with heavy fishing line but i have never had good luck with that.
  14. 6 lug front tractor rims mounted with tractor tires. The big give away for this is it has a john deer paint job.
  15. Give him a call or text he will get back to you faster. His number is on the Ebay listings, but here you go 971-255-2970
  16. I rather just use these adapters so i don't have to swap sets of lug nuts when i want to change wheels. Plus they're a lot cheaper than buying lug nuts that have to be custom made.
  17. Might have to call around to the guys who install windshields. Around where i live i can get a new windshield and gasket installed for $140-$200 with them driving out to my car. Talking to some of the guys they said they would put in a used windshield with a new gasket if you wanted. You could try to just buy the gasket from a windshield place and offer a little more for it if they don't want to sell without a install. Just found this http://www.dkhardware.com/product-4940-wcr417-windshield-gasket-1980-1989-subaru-subaru-brat-fw653-chrome.html

  19. There is a intermediate wiper relay so i would try replacing that first.
  20. click on My profile Edit my profile Scroll down to where it says profile information click the text box for member title and type what you want.
  21. I wired the toggle switch in for something temporary so it wouldn't over heat plus i had a fuse inline so if it did get hot enough it would have blown. Re-plugged in the factory wiring after cleaning and tightening a bunch of connections related to it. Drove the brat until the fans turned on then let it sit at idle for 20 minutes to see if the fans would cycle on and off which they did a couple times.
  22. There is another guy in ashland with a tan 1st gen brat he lives in the historic part next to the rv/trailer park. It has a roll bar, rear seats, and a winch bumper. Talking to him i heard there is a guy with 5 brats in medford. While i was up there i also saw a 2nd gen that was rally blue.
  23. On my 82 brat i replaced the autolites spark plugs with ngks and gapped them, wired radiator fans to a toggle switch, adjusted the valve clearance, replaced valve cover gaskets, and started replacing the oil pan gasket. Also i got one of my dads brats running after it stopped running a couple months ago after electrical problems. Turned out to be a combination of a blown fuse, corroded fuses, and a bad transistor box.
