Gen2 Aftermarket Components?
turbosubarubrat replied to thornleyjacob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
NGK wires and plugs there rated oem and have a lifetime warranty, i usually just get a rv battery since there a little bigger than a car battery so you have more juice for your winch, any low preasure fuel pump (2 or 3 psi) works for the carbed cars the turbo's can use a pump off a f-250 with dual tanks and fuel injection. -

You miss understood what i said or you didn't look at his picture to see the old spring behind his new seal. -

The spring is from the old seal(it goes inside the lip of it). It's used to keep the seal in place. Take the new seal off and take off the old spring then put the new seal back back on. -
You make sure these aren't the 390mm wheels? Because they made wheels both in metric and American. I saw a peugeot sedan off of Orient drive this weekend thinking i might score a set of 15 inch alloys because the car has sat since 96. Once i saw it had the 390's i left because im not going to pay 1500-2000 for a set of metric tires.

On my 82 brat the fuel gauge goes up and down while driving even with a full tank (will go from 1/4 to 3/4 back to 1/4 repeatedly) but it chooses a spot to stay once the tank gets lower. Checked the voltage getting to the sender and it checked out ok so replaced the the sender with a known good one only to have the same thing happen. Then i took the cluster apart to tested the gauge its self which is also good. I'm just going to leave it since the low fuel gauge works on it and is accurate since i made it to the gas station filling it at $42 so it had less than a gallon left.

Help me save my 93 Loyale
turbosubarubrat replied to Pancake Pops's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The 3 speed wont bolt up to a ej22 motor without a adapter plate and would probably crap out sooner than later. You could try to source a 4 speed off a gl-10 or something but there hard to find. If your going to do it buy a legacy that is fwd if you don't want to have awd and swap the motor, transmission, electrical components for the motor, wiring harness, ect. If your not good with wiring i wouldn't suggest doing it because there will be a lot of it. -
Just got the title in the mail today and went up to DMV to get the title transferred.

83 Brat - No ECM and failing emissions
turbosubarubrat replied to spatulaisgod's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My 82 brat has a ECM, cruise control, a electronic carb, o2 sensor with cat deleted from previous owners, and all the high altitude equipment. So did a 1980 hatch back i got parts off of at a junkyard. All my other carb cars have just a o2 sensor, regular hitachi's, and cats. The o2 sensor when it's original came with a rubber connector plugs that can be put on the new o2. -
Subaru Brat - Bed Trim - Options?
turbosubarubrat replied to thornleyjacob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The trim is actually stainless steel not chrome plated. -
I tried screwing it in for 20 minutes with no luck so i took off then i hit it twice with sledge and put it back together. Once it was bled i tested it out to make sure it was working right which it was. I test brakes on gravel so i can tell what brakes are grabbing from the skid trails from hard stops.

Subaru Brat - Bed Trim - Options?
turbosubarubrat replied to thornleyjacob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Some country's got hook bed brats where instead of the chrome trim they got really useful tie down hooks in place of the chrome. Couldn't find a pic since they're rare but did find some pics of the long bed brats. -
lift help, too much camber

You get the parts on i sold yet? -
Put a metal screen or chicken wire over the cowl holes to get rid of them re-entering that area. FYI they probably have been through the whole car if they have a nest in the vents so you have a lot more cleaning to do. They will crawl up in the headliner, air cleaner box in engine compartment, under the carpet, under/on the seats, pretty much the whole interior, through the wiring tunnels and wind shield pillars. Leave a trap out with some peanut butter on it just to make sure there isn't any living in the car still. I finally got rid of the mice in my hatch after having to constantly re-trap 2 traps almost every night for a couple days killed about 7. Luckily i caught onto the outbreak and kept them out of all my other cars by having about 10 traps set on the ground.

Waxed and washed

The console wash already cut so i was like screw it im putting this in. I need to make a backing plate and a adapter plate but it works the way it is. Took the front in apart and repacked the drivers side bearings if you didn't know this yet its a HUGE PAIN IN THE rump roast. piston refused to go in so it resulted in this Then i went onto the trailer wiring problem. Cut down and wrapped. funky wiring coming out wired in with butt connectors

Factory mounting for the brush guard is more than what i thought it was will add a some more support to my hatch some time. Passing lamp switch re-assembled after it fell apart i used a ice pick to get it back together and epoxy to make it stay together. And it works flawlessly Fans and temp sensor wired back in Glad i changed the oil and filter changing antenna Replaced the wiper motor The later style passenger side antenna fits. Began redoing the stereo system. Got the dash lights to work.

Been busy working on the nursery had 3 semi's come in this week so have been tired but still managed to get some stuff done on this. before after some some hard hits replaced lens replaced with out without a huge junk missing took the side step door off since it was bent and put on another step side for the divers side which is also missing the door. dirty factory skid plate factory mounting my quick fix i did to stop the radiator from leaking while still on so i could move the brat with out coolant spraying everywhere power washed bolt cut down to use as the plug even a subaru bolt pipe dope on rewiring the passing lamp Bad previous wiring(hack) job? And apparently for no reason too. light working sorting the mess out

Factory fill oil EA81, EA82
turbosubarubrat replied to MilesFox's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I always use 10w30, 10w40, or straight 30. I usually buy chevron, shell, castrol, and other high quality oils depending on whats on sale. From what i've heard many guys with high mileage subarus run straight 30 or 10w40 since it quiets down the lifters. -
Yes it is with the dual range 4wd.

I think this style was just for the years they came with orange clusters and lettering. On the turbo wagon i had there was another switch on the other side of the column along with one in spot where the center passing lamp would go.
