  1. I have 5 sets of them 3 of them are reserved for other projects in the works. I think i will leave them out for now but will offer a set when i sell her since there are mixed fillings on the seats. On the other hand i think it would look awesome with the jump seats in the back with a roll bar like my 85 so that is a possibility.
  2. Haven't done much on this in a while but dollied it up to dmv today with my dad and got the oregon title coming since it was a washington car. Then we stopped at the gas station to get some gas for it. The guy at the pump was interested in it and really liked it. He said he has a couple of friends who would be interested in buying it so who knows who will buy her. After that we went down to deq and unloaded her then ran the the engine so it was warmed up. Went to the testing area #1 and it went right through no problems.
  3. Got insurance on it and have been driving around town today with it and my dad. Also we went to put gas in at the gas station and the guy at the pump asked "what type of subaru is it". Of coarse i replyed it's a brat. The tank must of been full since we only got 6 bucks into it before the pump kicked off.
  4. I remember it being on craigslist too, then it disappeared for awhile. When it was first posted he wanted $1500 for it not running so no one wanted it considering how the ad made the engine sound bad. I think the key thing you heard about is right. Another time my dad and i where at home depot unlocking and getting in are 3rd gen sliver wagon when we find out its not our car.
  5. Here goes the story on it since i was too tired to type it last night. Bought it from guy who was selling it for his father since he has dementia so can't drive anymore. The father has owned the brat for 15-20 years and has used it on his peach farm to pick the fruit because the bed is the perfect height. The brat was supposed to be smoking really bad so it was brought to a shop to get worked on and the mechanic said it needed a new motor or the motor rebuilt. I'm not sure of this but i think the mechanic wanted to drive it or sell it to make money on it because she runs and idles great. Only 143k on speedometer. Once i ran her for awhile on the farm she started to heat up so i stopped to wash her and let the engine cool so i could check the coolant. After cooled down i checked and saw nothing so put some anti freeze and water in the radiator. When it was almost full it started leaking on the side from a torn out or popped out plug which is screwed a bolt into to plug it since it has a rubber seal. The guys brother gave the title and keys to the mechanic with out telling him so i have a bill of sale now along with current registration. Luckily i have a pocket full of keys and it turns out my hatch back has the same key . Now i'm just waiting for the title before i do a lot to it so i don't waste time and money, but i'm sure i will get the title and keys the guy was really nice and wanted it to go to a good home. I have all the parts to make it look even better and really want to start on it just really need the title to fully commit. Plans: fix third eye. put stock radio back or a good radio since it has already been taken out. re-under coat bed and fix wheel well dents. dash cover clean interior replaced broken lenses fix electrical issues. gas gauge doesn't work, replace some bulbs, third eye motor ran continuously until i cut the wire for it. do a oil change and new antifreeze since its mostly water right now. make a permanent fix for the radiator leak replaced drivers side front wheel bearing adjust tailgate handle fix ac put on all missing trim wax and polish of coarse im going to run her around some this summer i thought i was going to get a full project so i might sell her some time soon.
  6. I did stopped to get some new oil for her. You must of been in your forester or i would of spotted your lifted wagon.
  7. washed up took door panels off to take off speakers and put on new clips
  8. Found this on craigslist yesterday and couldn't resist going and getting it. Even with the supposedly bad motor it was still worth getting it. Once i got back home with a fresh battery and a little cranking she fired right up and ran fine. even has a skid plate seats are reupholstered wood shifter Factory cruise control in orange along with cluster ac
  9. When is the last time the fuel filters were changed? One is in the engine compartment and the other is by the fuel pump.
  10. This ad is what makes a subaru a subaru http://portland.craigslist.org/yam/cto/4549753226.html.
  11. I mostly just buy the stuff with a life time warranty so if i break it or bend it i can get a new one. I need to take in my pry bar set since i bent the whole set http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-heavy-duty-pry-bar-set-69281.html. The 110v flux core wire welder works ok but get the 2 year warranty if you weld a lot had to get mine replaced twice since it stopped working once(wasn't the duty cycle it wouldn't even turn on) and another time the gun fell apart while weldinghttp://www.harborfreight.com/90-amp-flux-wire-welder-61849.html. I gave up on it then and went to a nice 110v Lincoln mig welder that is 30 years old and found out all parts are available from Lincoln still.
  12. 78 brat bought for $200 needs motor since it seized from setting so long, body work from passenger side hit doesn't have much rust besides battery tray, and interior work. It came with ac, a brush guard, high roll bar, and high top snug top canopy. 78 brat bought for $100 got motor running next day but needed carb work, needs some body work since drivers side was hit, and interior work. Came with factory winch bumper and hight top snug top canopy. 78 brat bought for $350 needs motor since some one took it apart and left it out side in the rain (getting ea81 with 5 speed d/r), body is really straight just minor dings need filled with bondo, and interior needs work. Came with brush guard, low roll bar, and high top snug top canopy. 83 brat i got for free had the motor, compete interior, missing a lot but had some stuff i really wanted on it. Total rust bucket rockers were gone, bed was a piece of ply wood, tail gate was hanging from the top hinges. 84 brat bought for $200 was supposed to run before the guys grandson hit a tree on his property, so it needs body work(front clip), and interior work. It is solid though the motor ran good before it through a rod. So it is going to get a rebuilt motor while im at it.
  13. I have talked to a couple of guys who have owned high mileage ones (200k-300k) they say the crankshafts have problems and are no longer available. So the only way you can rebuild the motor is getting the crank welded and ground down to specs. I wouldn't say they're rare yet but their getting scarce. I seen a couple of them driving around Sandy occasionally that i've seen but i see more at pick n' pull. http://portland.craigslist.org/search/sso?query=subaru+justy
  14. Most likely problems are the ignition module, coil, fuel pump control unit, fuel pump, fuel lines clogged, or a short. Check the fuses and see if one is blown or missing. I had a problem on my hatch where the carb sensor had a short in it which caused the coil fuse to blow making it so the car wouldn't start.
  15. Looking at my fsm the bigger metal box above the coil is the voltage regulator and the smaller one next to it is your ignition control unit.
  16. You need a vented gas cap to release the pressure.
  17. The little cylinder with 2 wires is a condenser and the ignition module is in the distributor. If you haven't plugged in the carb harness that will help it run better when you get it going. If it is plugged in unplug it. I had a problem on my hatch were the coil was blowing fuses and i couldn't find the short like you. So i put in a crappy harbor freight fuse and let it do its magic and fry a wire going to the carb. This actually happened on accident but helped solve my problem even thought the plastic on the fuse melted off while the aluminum was still intact. The wire lead to a senor on the carb which i replaced and it started up fine with out blowing a fuse afterwards.
  18. There are 3 10mm bolts on top covered by the vent covers very close to the windshield. Then there are 2 under the dash which are the obvious ones either 12mm or 14mm nuts cant remember for sure which.
  19. Move her in last week end Put on the hitch so i could winch her in with my hatch to test the winch out Didn't clear the steering This week end. Top is a ea81 cross member bottom is ea71. ea81 is roughly 2 inches wider. ea71 rack on top and ea81 on bottom. ea81 is roughly 2 inches bigger. ea71/ea81 hybrid mix.
