Finally got around to putting on my rear windows. The gaskets are off a geo metro which i had just laying around. Only had to cut 4 inches off to fit nicely and they don't leak.

You would have to fabricate a header, down pipe, turbo cooling system/lubrication system, the rest of the turbo plumbing, add boost gauge, and add a boost controller. If you turbo it your going to want a weber 32/36 since the factory option weber-carter sucks from what people tell me since it's a a one barrel carb while the factory hitachi's have 2 barrels. It would be easier just to find a ea81t motor and drop it in with the engine/dash harness especially if your ea81 is tired out but the ea81t are really hard to find especially running. Far better option would be to drop in a ej22, ej22t, or ej20t.

Mount stud stripped out so welded it up, ground it down, then threaded. Skid plate and guards installed.

Just been running it to get around the farm and its been going good with some work here and there. It started bucking when you tried to put any gas on the engine besides idle which took me forever to find out what was wrong and it turned out part of the fuel pump was clogged with sandy/filmy stuff stuck in the inlet fitting. Made a wood handle for the hood release since the old one broke off

Here is the first style cluster on a 1980 second gen wagon with ea71 mated to the single range 4wd and the 1st style cyclops http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/4406021485.html. -

A older friend i like talking to said when he was younger he had a lifted 80 toyota truck with 44 inch tires. He had a flat so he put on a spare which turned out to be the original so he put it on the front so it was leaning really far down on one front corn but he made it home. -

I don't think i have ever seen one like this even in white they must have been in some of the first second gens made. I only see orange clusters on cars that could of had the third eye (79-82) setup like this brat http://portland.craigslist.org/grg/cto/4399296164.html -

Most of the Subaru's i've had have been gl so they have that style but white. My 83 turbo wagon has that and so did my other one when i converted it to analogue after the digi shorted, along with my 84 brat, 85 brat, 86 brat, and 86 hatchback. I had a 83 parts brat which was dl so it was the lower version it didn't have t-tops and came with this style tach. I know the standard hatch backs came with this style and so did a lot of the dls. They also didn't come with the speaker left of the turn signal nob and under the vent close to the door. I saw a 82 wagon at the junkyard with the orange tach you have a picture of above and also a 80 hatch back both of which had orange lined knobs for everything. I think the orange tachs came from 80-82 or something like that. DL dash GL dash As you can tell the shape of the dash is different where the cluster cluster. -
Swapping Dashes during and EA_EJ swap..
turbosubarubrat replied to mike a's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Prwa101 lives somewhere around cherryville and has a ej'ed white wagon that he is building who might be able to help you. There is another white lifted wagon up that way not sure if its engine swapped though. Prw101 works for general disorder who owns a Subaru only shop in portland they do everything from engine swaps to regular maintenance. I know for sure they can do the flywheel and harness if you need that done. There also is a gen 1st brat getting ej'ed on Bluff Rd just a couple houses from the end of kelso to the right then. Then there is a silver 2nd gen brat running around with a 2.2 in it the owner Greg lives in the neighborhood behind 7eleven. -

There is a guy on Hoglem Rd which is off Bluff Rd that could do it. He is semi retired now and builds hot rods for peolpe, rebuilds engines, machines, and a lot of other custom stuff. I think there is also a machine shop behind fred meyers but not sure on that. Then there is a Darell on Compton Rd who builds custom differentials, gears, axels, lifts, bumpers, and off road stuff like who probably would do it if hes not busy. Parked out in front of his is his lifted nissian truck with flames, lifted green suzuki samuri with custom front and rear bumpers tied together with the rocker protectors and inside roll cage, his lifted f-250 which is yellow/cream color, and he has a couple other rigs around like that to give you a idea what to look for if you go that route. -
Most of the stuff you listed you can build your self if you have a welder and some other metal fabing tools to fab things to your liking. If you plan on going off road you really should consider a dual range 4wd transmission if it hasn't already been upgraded. There are a couple guys on here that sell lift kits, bumpers, and other off road gear. You will be better off converting your hubs to 6 lug instead of sticking with 4 lug because they are easy to find since 14 inch rims are very rare if there factory then there are peugoet rims which come in 14 and 15 inch wheels but are still hard to find.

Are you the guy with the lifted white wagon with 6 lug wheels that runs around Sandy sometimes? A loyale, gl, or dl analogue cluster will be a direct fit as long as its a 3rd gen. Here is a loyale turbo with turbo analogue cluster on craigslist and it's parting out in oregon city http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/pts/4363960783.html. Or if you find a non turbo cluster just get that cluster and put on a turbo gauge somewhere. People have put in legacy dashes or clusters but it just doesn't look right but it is do able if you really want to put it in. -
how to value/price my 1984 turbo wagon?
turbosubarubrat replied to lastchance's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I sold one in pretty fair shape for $2000 about 2 months ago. Ran great and had good transmission, turbo, and engine with slightly lower compression in #1 cylinder -

"NOOB" looking to buy a BRAT!
turbosubarubrat replied to buckkiller's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yes a first gen brat can be modded to have a dual range 4wd transmission in either a 4 or 5 speed. In some of the 1981 models the first gens had the second gen drive train. They had a ea81 (1800cc engine) with a 4 speed d/r instead of the ea71 (1600cc engine) and 4 speed single range 4wd that came in almost all the first gen brats. -
Cyclops Install Help

Pm mcbrat who is now vaportrail on here. In a thread I was reading said he did it but there was no diagram or anything helpful to wire it. -
ej22 motor or ej25 motor with ea to ej adapter plate is your best option because there isn't any huge gain with a direct bolt on swap to ea82t which is getting hard to find parts for and isn't worth swap for a few extra horse power especially offroad. A ea71, ea81, ea81t, ea82 carb/fuel injected, and ea82t will all bolt to your transmission. You can upgrade your carb to a weber 32/36 like many people have and get rid of a bunch of stuff for emissions to make it gain a little bit if you have a carb.

She needs a good cleaning look at the dash. Was my last resort since i couldn't find the right filter wrench and was too tight to take off by hand. Hopefully get the oil pump seal on tomorrow and reseal the oil pan.

Catalytic converter
turbosubarubrat replied to Newsoobowner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My ea81t wagon with a automatic transmission had no cat since it came from Yakima Washington. It had been sitting since or before 2004 with a blown head gasket then motor pulled in 2010 by a guy in hood river which sat 2 years before i got. The next year 2013 i got it running with out cat which made it run poorly. Just this month i finished making the exhaust a $38 shipped cat off ebay made by eastern catalytic welded on to the down pipe for the turbo, $20 for cherry bomb glass pack for the center, and $15 for the rear muffler out of the junkyard maybe had a 100 miles on it since it looked new and didn't show it had been ran hot my guess is its like a magniflow since a recpeit in the car said it cost $100 just for the muffler; also bought a oxygen sensor at carquest for $20 while i was at it and the turbo gasket kit $30 at napa. Car runs a lot better now with great power upon acceleration plus the boxer rumble sounds great with the turbo and cherry bomb with the new muffler.
