Subaru Brat Loyale Front Clip ?
turbosubarubrat replied to SubaruJawn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
depends on how good of a welder the person doing it is and if they drill out all the spot welds to splice the stuff together or if they cut everything out it needs to be in the right places. for example this 1st gen subaru 2 door hatchback made very well http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/139857-a-must-see-custom-made-78-subaru-2-door-hatch-back-out-of-a-4-door-wagon/ -
Help: ignition switch removal '84 DL
turbosubarubrat replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
part of the problem is if its anything like the gl ignition there was a pin holding it in so it wouldn't come out in one piece, after you drill it out and pull on it with a pick it slides out nice and easy most of the time. is the switch monted like a 1st gen? -
Subaru Brat Loyale Front Clip ?
turbosubarubrat replied to SubaruJawn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it would look great if you get a 3 door coupe, a wagon, and the the top of a brat with t-tops and rear sliding window then cut and splice it all together. so it would have a wagon body with the roof cut off besides the windshield pillars and a little bit extra so the ea82 windshield would fit in perfectly and the brats roof would be welded onto it with modification since it has a different angle than the ea82 stlye. it would also have the coupes door jams and doors so it would be in proportion with the rest of the car then you would need to make a custom tailgate and figure out out how you would want to make the bed for example dimonde plate aluminum. plus the fact it would need the unibody re-enfored so rebar or tubing going throught he unibody and frame rails. -
windshield replacement
turbosubarubrat replied to Uberoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i've done it just take your time and cut the gasket out around the windshield on the out side and it will come out without breaking just be gentle with it and take the time to do the job especialy because you will be using lots of pressure with a razor sharp tool. -
a couple more modifactions are coming up soon so . im going to be adding dual step sides to this, i cut the bottom of the panels out for templates off the parts brat so i can make my own and im working on getting the other stepside now, the switch mod went a different direction which is now filled with jb weld in the small spots where the switches where besides the lock one which will still do the same thing but be wired in the 4 toggle swithces right now its done but just needs the inperfections in the paint sanded out(it took 5 coats of primer to get it looing fairly good and completly hiding the power window and lock lettering after i sanded it off), also im adding the upper mounting tabs for the head rest to mount correctly, plus a lot of other small things.

that wagon looks like a lot of fun more pics is a must epecially of the engine bay and all the modifactions you have done. i have the parts but i never have had a 2wd drive to do it to

if peolple actually think that then i go offroading everyday ever day going down my drive way or any gravel road on our farm. i would qualify some of the non gravel roads and the fields on our farm offroading during the rainy season because you have to put the tractors into 4 wheel drive otherwise they get stuck in deap mud.

i have a friend down the streat from me that has a datsun pickup thats hes built really nice and very well everything has been made custom buy him for it since he has his own differential shop. it has a ford 351 motor in it which has been converted to propane which makes the motor run great since the octane is about 120 compared to the 87 or so of gas plus propane is cheap comepared to the price of gas i think he said he spent 5k or more on the motor. it has custom differentials on it the front one cost about 10k to make and the rear is about 3k take into consideration these have custom gearing, axels, caseing, ect. and that these have all the bells and whistles as people like to say. then he has the custom suspension setup which is off a 1ton truck plus his lift kit and bigger tires. he also made a custom tube bed along with a exo-skeliton, front and rear winch bumpers, and a bunch of other suff. i bet if you go to build it its 30k or over. he says if he kills it in the mud pit dont even bother pressing if i remember right the clutch since the differentials have such low gearinging just turn the ignition over and it keeps going.

carb rebuild kit for hitachi in ea81
turbosubarubrat replied to belacane's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
sorry i forgot to get thoughs pages scaned i forgot about it because i always subscribe to threads i post in but for some reason i didn't in this one. it should be the right kit from orileys since most of the kits at the auto parts stores are made to fit 3 different carbs or at least the four subaru carb kits i've gotten at car quest, napa, and orileys have been. if it turns out they send you one for a ea82 motor i can scan the pages since im subscribed now. -
has different color lettering then the brat i just picked up but i will double check. the 80 2 door hatch back i got my core suport off of had it and all the stuff he probably needs but it got crushed about 3 months ago.

nice looking rockers right. factory subaru replacement drivers door Tail gate hinges rusted off
-
The free parts car which brings this face :unsure:when you look at the rust from it being run on the beach and setting 10 years. But not as bad as the 1st gen brat i saw that was parked less than a mile from a beach and was missing the outer panels do to rust. anybody ever see this rear window setup in a 2nd gen? tons of parts in the cab. and some of the stuff that made it really worth it. like the head rest, seat handles, and seat belts plus a lot of other stuff.
-
how well do they work?i will need to look at my wiring since i have 4 harneses that are complete just for my brat i have 3 from brats and one off something with a rear defroster.
