  1. The lug nut adapter washers i ordered came in the mail today so i can use the peugeots and feel safe
  2. looks like the ea81 is going in this so... i took out the transmission, rear diff/axels, and drive line. took out the rear stuff because i want to do the under side of this too when i get it painted which might start this weekend since it got moved into a pole barn. actually as dark as it looks in the pic
  3. its not drematicly bigger the 2nd gen is bigger than the first gen but not by a whole lot. the second gens are a couple inchs wider but its not a huge amount. my dad has 3 first gen brats and i have a second gen. it really depends on what you like, i like the t-tops, dual range 4wd, ea81 1800cc, the third eye setup, factory winch bumper, roll bar, rear seats, and the over all design off the second gen brat but i would drive a first gen too i just preffer my 85 over the first gen. if you like first gens then what are you waiting for! i would swap a ea81 and a 5 speed dual range 4wd into a first gen and even attemp to put a second gen t-top roof in it. i think unless my car is unique why do i have it? thats why my 85 brat is going to look like a 82 with the antena on the wrong side
  4. did you leave drain wholes in the tail gate? if not you should drill some in the bottom, its the reason why these rust out so bad because they get clogged with stuff over years and they get wet inside and never dry out.
  5. for 1300 bucks you can buy a welder, new cat., new exaust gaskets, new o2 sensor, bong, new bolts, and still have half the money left over.
  6. bumpers mount different than on 4wd and the front supension is shorter but every thing unrealated to the 4wd parts of the car are the same
  7. what ever happened to this slogin? "SUBARU Inexpensive. And built to stay that way." i've been in a few new subaru's and they just dont have the right fill from me. maybe because i grew up riding in ea82 wagons or becsause i dont like any car after the 80's from all the newer cars looking alike to me. this is why im into the old gens i plan on adding oil to and driving my 85 brat until the bumpers rust off which will take a long time because i have a custom rear bumper with built in hitch and factory winch bumper (hopefully it wont ever rust out) but first i need to finish building it . plus the fact i got my dad into the first and second gen stuff now because i suckered him into getting 6 subaru's in 3 years
  8. im going its a little over a hour from my house :)plus i might have the brat back togther by then.
  9. not yet but plan on it. i started the body work but thats about it, its eighter get another ea71 becasue the one in it needs rebuilt or a ea81 swapped in with a dual range trany. pic update
  10. pm if you dont have his number i take it your into legos or something . better discription would be it on the exact opisite side of town. its on the way up the road from klicatat that had no guard rail on it for years(few years ago they put guard rail in) and if you follow that road till you see a stop sign you turn left and a couple miles down the road is are cabin. i will do a pic update sometime this week because i have a few to show. my dad still is thinking about getting getting the ea81 and 4 speed dual range out of the hatchback for $100 so a another trip might be in order plus if we head up im getting another set of hubs to six lug convert or spares.
  11. the cabin is a couple miles past the place where they have been building a truck stop for years but have not finished and the place where they have dug rock out of the side of a hill. there is a burgondy ea82 wagon lifted a little with the H style rims that is a little off the road just down that dirt road is are cabin. i dont know if steve jackson sounds familiar but he has a place on the same road and gets around a lot. we got a the 78 brat from goldendale from matt chiles.
  12. read about it a week or two ago on facebook but forgot to post it here...
  13. my dad has a cabin up there so we head up there every once in a while. went to the actual junkyard but if you drive long enough you could find one in some ones backyard . we actually have gotten alot of subaru's around there a 86 brat in benjen(bad spelling), 78 brat in the dallas, 78 brat in goldendale, 83 turbo wagon in hood river, 91 loyale in goldendale, and a ea82 wagon in golden dale. the people that work at the junkyard are very nice and very resonable on prices so you dont fill like your getting screwed like at pick'n pull
  14. went to goldendale washington with my dad today which turned into a hording trip i got every thing off a 80 hatch back that was made in september so i got the radiator support cut off halfway throught the battery tray on both sides, grill, third eye, bezals, bumper, chrome skide plate thing, head lights, 2 third eye switches, tan chrome door crank handles, glove box mirror, third eye relay, and a rare emblem that says "1800 4wd" all for $50 plus the guy at the junk yard cut out the support never seen a radiator support cut out the way he did but it worked. he used gas powered chop saw with like a 12 inch blade.
  15. its easier than you think to find rims for the loyale. all you have to do is convert the hubs to six lug. to do that you knock out 2 studs that are diaganal to each other then bolt the hub to a six lug wheel then make your marks to drill it out then drill them out with a drill press. after that put the studs back on plus two more you will want to tack weld the studs on to hold them on. or you could knock out 2 studs then drill out two new holes in a steel 6 lug rim to keep the 4 lug setup with 15 inch wheels.
  16. any ea81 with dual range 4 speed would be right. so 81-84 sedan 2/4 door, 81-88 3 door hatch back ea81 stlye only, 81-84 wagon, 81-88 brat. you have to be careful because some dl's and year 81 cars have single range instead of dual range.
  17. you will hope you have the pop rivits becuse the screws almost never come out without from them rounding out because there rusted on.
  18. not sure what part your talking about since it could be two things because you have two pieces of trim that are like that. the very bottom ones below the doors are held on by metal clips that pop off. the ones in the middle of the doors, rear panels, and fenders are held on by pop rivets or small screws that can be seen after taking out the rubber strips that lay on them.
  19. i would sugest getting a factory subaru manual they help a lot. also collect lots of parts for spares or even whole cars. some mods are the six lug sawp and ea81 with a dual range transmission which is a great combo for the old stuff.
  20. some of the old chevys are the same too you just have to see what fits and looks good.
  21. looks like a gen 2 according to mics page. how doesn't it line up? if its a little off at the tow hooks as in to short in length but looks like it should fit the tow hooks are probably bent like on my brat. which i fix by taking off the hooks and bending where it was bolted on the car back in place with a pair of vice grips and i hit the tow hooks with a sledge hammer until they are fair straight(i usally just get new ones from the junk yard though). http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/pushbar/pushbar.html
