  1. it still has rust but nothing that cann't be fixxed by someone else after my dad sells it . im pritty much fixing some stuff and do stuff to make it sell better but it will still be a project when its sold. got the seat frame sanded, primed, and painted black so it looks fairly good and i fixed one of the individual seat frames where it was tearing but luckily someone else fixed the othey one along time ago.
  2. ok that helps a lot but i probably should have a pic so i dont mess up, also so i know where the aluminum piece that connects the throttle body to the turbo has that small connection is supposed to go
  3. i dont think think this one is hydro lifters but it could. i will do some more reading in the book i think someone took the hydro lifters out when they took parts off but idk. also figured out the belts it only took 7 trips to the parts store luckily its less than 2 miles away i just haven't got the part numbers with me to put them on the thread incase someone else needs them.
  4. i think this pic will explain better. and yes i put pressure through out the feeling
  5. trying to figure out where the u shaped hose goes off the turbo can not find another port for the hose to go. so am i supposed to cap it off? i know its the coolant feed line so should i do what have deaw in the second pic with a piece of straight hose then cap off the intake port? or is the intake hose what makes preasure for the coolant pump?
  6. i adjusted the valve clearance as set by factory specs before putting in the motor but after putting it in i think its off my dad went to give it a first start up and i heard a clunk inside and the belts slowed suddenly when i adjusted the clearance i was told by a few people to pull back the rocker and stick the filler gauge in and adjust until it moves freely but you can fill it slide inbetween slightly. so was i not supposed to pull back? addvice is apriated and a video of someone adjusting valve clearance on a subaru motor would be awesome.
  7. got 2 sets of center seat belts out of ea82 wagons which work perfect for these
  8. had a second tank at one piont
  9. my dad got this brat last summer after i spotted the same guy's 83 brat in my search for parts for my 85. which he didn't want to sell but i got a free canopy and my dad got a $100 brat that had been sitting since 97 after the guys wife got in a accident. the morning after he got it he put in a battery and some gas down the carb and it fired up. its basicly been sitting and collecting more rust besides getting the carb rebuilt about 3 months ago. most recently i've been putting in a set of rear seats. the place where we picked it up in the dalles wrong head rest they were just for measurements
  10. A little sanding pays off working on a six lug swap
  11. Another junkyard run 2wd bumper, 3rd eye switch, and interior piece. Decided just to put on another radiator support instead of welding in buckets.
  12. 3/16/13 3/17/13 3/24/13 where is the u shaped hose supposed to go? i do not think it is even the right hose but it came with it on it. is it supposed to go to onto the intake monifold where the thermostat is?
  13. get a new. the cylinder breaks on the inside when you put a wrong key in or in your case your buddy and his pocket knife, when it does this it makes the tumblers not line up right so it will never work again.
  14. went to portland yesterday after giving a call to a guy on craigslist on his brat rear seats with frame and head rest for $75. after getting there the guy said i could have them for $50 :)there dirty but will clean up, one seat has bike handels on the bars, and one head rest has a warped plastic piece(nothing a heat gun wont fix).
  15. well i guess unless your flooring it to the ground all the time you will have problems.
  16. it will not hurt the engine to change the muffler because it only changes the sound so you do not need a muffler. the only reason why there are mufflers is to quite down the exhaust and because a bunch of people complain anout the niose of a straight pipe which is why cars are required to have them.
  17. thanks not to many people that actually will check things like that for people, but mine has ac(sorry i forgot to say that). so does yours have the ac/alt bracket or just the alt bracket?
  18. anybody know the part numbers for the ea81t belts? or know the belts sizes? about the only parts i need to put the wagon back together to get it started so help is very apriated. have about 40 belts and i figured what size i would need by putting ones that were close on so i could find out the right one inbetween at the parts store. turns out that didn't work so i need to go back and get a smaller and bigger one or come in with dimensions or parts number.
  19. if he does it he should find a rolling frame with everything on it besides the body so he can cut it down to size or whatever to put the subaru shell on top of it. or another way is to find a frame thats semi close to the same dimensions and work with it. i have seen a 280z done like that with a 302 out of a mustang on a bronco 2 frame and a 4wd transmission, and if i remember right the 280z's where unibody. from what i have heard the old chevy luv's don't hold up to the 350 swaps very well but i still see them around.
  20. also so they can estimate damages of the car if they haven't already. maybe you should find out how much some of the damaged panel and unibody compoents cost oem to see how much that racks up.
  21. quick update i got the exhaust welded up and put on and mounted secure
  22. if it was in perfect shape before the crash i would go on craigslsit and find ones that look close to yours and show them how much they sell for so you get some money back
  23. i always hate it when they do that my 85 is titled as a 86 from that. i do not get why they are already selling 2014 cars because its physically impossible because they are maybe in 2013 hope you get the brat its definately worth it in the long run.
