Emergencey: Stolen Legacy Seattle!
turbosubarubrat replied to Ratty2Austin's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
glad you got it back:clap: i recommend that you put a good security system on the car and security camera close to the car for when they try to steal it again so the cops have evidence.(or you could just get a security system) -
Rubysu the subaru - 81 GL D/R 4x4 wagon - WA to MO
turbosubarubrat replied to ebarb's topic in Members Rides
looks great:clap: have a 83 turbo wagon same color in and out but does't have plad interior or third eye:mad: -
looked at my dads 78 dl and if thats the port by the drivers side it goes to the master cylinder.
-
-
probably got old and split then flew off from it having pressure on it.
-
look for hoses not hooked up and see if you can find where it goes. if that port doesn't go anywhere cap it and put a hose clamp on it so it doesn't leak. and hook up that loose hose i cant tell if it goes on that other port or not from this angle. what manual do you have? i looked in my factory ones and couldn't find that port so i will look at a couple ea71's tomarrow.
-
tomarrow im going to be finishing up the body work and get more sanding done and maybe a coat of primer. since i finished the exhaust repair i hope to get some stuff done:brow:the repairs were drilling the broken stud out then tapping in the threads and welding a leaking spot just above the weld before the cat. (it was rip from the metal stretching i guess when the brat was rear ended). also i finished taking her apart to paint so i started taping things off. pic update sometime soon.

EA82 head crack between valves
turbosubarubrat replied to spayordie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
post them on a site like facebook, google+, photobucket, ect. then copy the image url from a picture and click this (on this site) when making a reply then paste the image url in the box that pops up and do that for how many pictures you have -
i like the older subaru's because they're fun to drive, unique, always gets looks going down the road, their reliability in motors, their great off road capabilities. also because i love working on older cars and like having restoration projects. my first car is a 85 brat:headbang:been working on it since i was 13 but its getting close to being done and about a month ago i picked up a ea81turbo wagon:cool:
-
that is what i thought if doesn't have them it doesn't matter me.
-
the manual came in the mail today:headbang:im very happy with it:D (only thing it doesn't cover is the third eye which doesn't really matter since i wired one onto my 85 with the dpdt relay so it has a custom setup but it is covered in my other factory manual) anyway i covered the manual cover in a clear plastic that has a adhesive on one side that are used to protect books and such. so no more damage to the front covers and dirty finger prints:cool:but it also helps the manual to stay in one piece because they start falling apart when the get used. does anyone know if this has power mirrors? i will check tomarrow i saw they did in the manual, but im not sure if it has them or not because some one took out the radio console and put in a huge rump roast radio out of a chysler( the control for the mirror i think is on that console)

I must have air trapped somewhere
turbosubarubrat replied to Speedwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you check brake pads? also have you checked the brake springs? have you bled the breaks a couple times to get air bubbles out? my dad had my sister driving his ford ranger and she forgot to pull the rear e-brake off:banghead:so it toasted rear brakes, stretched the springs 1/2 a inch, and wore out a hub. -
i believe someone on here put a small second tank under the carpet the carpet on one(i cant remember if there is a little spot that goes down in the back or not because im more into brats). but if it were a brat you could have a second tank up close to the cab under the bed.

haven't heard or seen any but there are 2 subaru meets that happen each year in the PNW. but i have have seen some subaru groups around im sure they could use some older ones. or just make one:brow: -
nope i dont have a spare only have the one for my 85 and my dads 79 which i both have build threads on here for as well as my 83 ea81t wagon:banana: trust me brats can handle way worse than those hills take a look on utube

i have seen quite a few of these in the past few years all you have to do is keep a eye out for them. thats how there is 4 brats at my house:headbang: my 85 and my dads 78,78, and 79. you can even pick them up super cheap around $100-$350 if your lucky. glad to see another person found johns:clap:there is also a subaru shop in portland that has a lot of stuff has brats, sedans, wagons, even had 3-4 older stage 1 and stage 2 wagons. you should get a roll bar:brow:also you should get a factory subaru manual if you haven't already, they are full of tons of information that is skipped in others.
