  1. i saw a nissan like yours but it didn't look to good:-\it was next to my drive way down the road (my drive way is 1/4 mile long) in a ditch on top of a 4ftx8ft solid concrete brick:drunk: with the front in smashed up(seriously half the car was smashed up it had the front end about as tall as the top of the windshield) but the back was fine, definetly was a sad day for that car
  2. one of the best tools you will ever have is a camera, take lots of pictures and you know where everything goes
  3. i like this wagon too but it might be scary to find all of the places that have rusted through considering parts of the rockers are gone and the doors are starting so think of the wheel wells and under carriage, so it might be best to sell but i was looking forward to seeing the rust go away and the wagon get finished:(also this one is somewhat rare from the third eye and i think the orange dash lights are rarer than some other odometers and this one is one of the first ea81 body style cars around but the rust and body damage will make its value go down but the new suspension parts will make it worth something
  4. yah if you watch craigslist or drive around you can find the old subaru's for a couple hundred bucks, between me and my dad we have spent around $2500 buying 5 brats tons of parts like the rear seats, wind shields, body parts, interior, and motor parts which is very good because you can easy pay $2500 for a good brat and whats the fun paying that when you can buy 5 for the price of one and build them the way you want:cool:
  5. im just thinking but if you have a socket you dont care about weld it to the blot and use a ratchet with a pipe for leverage or use a breaker bar then you wont have the problem off the blots stripping out or the sockets cracking because it would stay on there tight and have no way to move unless the welds break
  6. to the last part, and i have to agree there is a lot of dumb asses in are generation i really do hate most of the music they make now days, a lot of people i know like dub step and im like its stupid it doesn't even have words. i guess im one of the few teenagers out there that actually rather be outside working on cars(subaru's:D) instead of sitting all dad playing a x-box or ps3 also can't wait to see lift installed with pics:popcorn: also subscribed
  7. pics of your quarter panel? it might be fixable unless its missing if its hit your best off getting tools and pulling it out the best you can and bondo it or if its rusty cut out the rust and weld new metal on
  8. i know its close to the fuse box on the ea81 cars not sure about gl-10 wagons, but it should be under the dash somewhere or under the hood connected to one of the plastic connector plugs, sorry couldn't of been more help but hope it helps some
  9. Slapped some bondo on primed drivers side welded on bondo started sanding by hand with 60grit
  10. can you give me a link to paint remover wheels? im interested, i didn't see the paint removing wheels at harbor freight but i'll ask someone next time im in there because that stuff does't last long and you can buy alot of that stuff supper cheep
  11. im using 3m undercoat and im going to spray the other side but i want to weld it all the way on first because it could light on fire because undercoat is flamable and thats why i had the green house fire estinguisher right in the bed of the brat because the coat on the support was still a little wet in spots, i've been watching your progress on your brat since page one nice job:)
  12. used 4 1/2in grinder with flap sanding wheel(was a little to coarse) but it started breaking on the inside then it fried and blew the breaker...so i flipped the breaker back over and started using the 6 inch sander. Which worked at least twice as good.
  13. my brat has the factory plate on it saying its a 85 but its titled as a 86 so no factory rear seats where a option for it:( and the first year of the 2nd generation brat was 81 and they came with the lamps in 81-82 yah these have bad places to rust, its from the bad design it makes dirt/stuff get stuck up in there which almost never dries out hear in the northwest causeing the wheel wells to rust out, i hope yours turn out good when you do it i just started today welding the drivers side back in and its tricky getting it to fit good im finding cutting the top of it in couple places helps and so does a vice to shape the curves and especialy a hammer:D
  14. my cousin lives oregon on the coast and is using three different chevy trucks to restore his 1963 chevy step side which most of those have major rust problems when they get that old and especialy at the coast even in oregon where the subaru's are plentiful
  15. i dont really like the look either i like the fast backs that where around from 68-70 better but i would rather have a pontiac firebird, tempest, or gto but keep us posted anyways let us see if you can change are minds
  16. yah i have some videos on youtube of my brat and my dads haven't done made some in awhile but im going to after i paint mine, the third eye is used for helping the main head lights on the 81-82 brats, 80-82 hatches, 80-82 wagons, not sure of sedans, but it was made for the head light set up for 1 on each side to help with the high beams not the 2 head light setup when i get the headlights and buckets for the 1 headlight set im going to switch over. it doesn't really a have a purpose but i think its cool so i put on because its rare and and makes mine unique because 85's didn't come with them they also didn't come with the rear seats or roll bars
  17. there is a few options to fixing it you can cut the rust out and weld anther piece on and it should be fine, you dont even need a welder for this (if you dont have one) get epoxy and put it on the piece of metal and it will last a long time but you want to make sure theres a good seal on it so you dont loose gas, i have even heard of people using bondo for fixing gas tanks. if you use a fuel cell just make brackets for it to be able to fit where the factory one was and i would have a aluminum one so you dont have to worry about rust
  18. Used my drill to pull the stake out because i used a hammer to pound it through set mouse traps, see what tomarrow brings, im going to start priming and sanding tomarrow and welding the wheel wells back together
  19. you dont really need them im going to mount my mudflaps with stainless steel blots, nuts, and washers. i foreget the exact size but i use the factory size bolts subaru had with the 10mm hex head
  20. took some more stuff off today i'm going to cut out rust spots on passenger door and wheel wells some time this week, also i'm going to be undercoating the wheel wheels while i'm at it to prevent rust from getting to it as bad.
  21. thanks for advice i used some electical cleaner already on some connections but that wasn't the problem i took apart the tail lights and drivers side had a bad bulb on top also was missing one on bottom and passenger side had no bulbs so i used my bulbs out of my old tail lights and that fixed it, i also don't have the problem with the roads being salted where i live:banana:but there is talk about them starting:banghead:
  22. a spot to stop the rust is where the mud flaps bolt on and right above them because mud, sand, and other stuff gets stuck there which will rust it out because that spot almost never dies out and making sure all drain wholes are open on stuff like bottom of panels and doors and that will help safe a few years
  23. my mom had a weird cup holder that moved with the bumps in the road so nothing would spill out on top of the dash i will try to get pics of it some time she used it for her coffee cup while driving listening to zz top:rolleyes:
  24. pic update im more focused on my brat right now but im probably going to work on it this week because 9 day week end:headbang: pics are from last week and week before took badges off to prime tailgate even priming/painting the components took off the aluminum pieces above the doors whats this? it was on where the head light bucket was sanding tail gate still working on it though
