Heating up my brat bed??
turbosubarubrat replied to old sub freak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i saw a 84 brat once it is wired with a 110v plug at the back of the bed for the canopy for the lights on it, which would work for you to plug a heater in, i think if you want to cut the back part go for it u might want to put a support bar in but i dont think it will effect anything because most the support is on the bottom unibody frame and in the panels the part your thinking of cutting out is more for sealing up the cab but on the other hand this 86 brat i toore apart could be yours without that there, i would defantly put in a roll bar typle thing if i did it -

Original brat roll bar fog lights??

for rust removal i use a 7 inch grinder with a wire wheel on my 85 brat and sand down the paint to make it even then prime with rusty metal primer and paint, for bondo you need to strip all the paint off where its being applied and apply the bondo in coats depending on how much the dents in and how far your able to hit it out, you will start with coarse sand paper and move to finer once you get closer to the right shape of the metal, i have also found out it pays in the long run to prime the whole car instead of just doing spots because you dont know when there will be more rust break outs in the near future and also it pays to get rid of all rust im welding my tailgate back together because of rust and next is the wheal wheel:-\so its better to get rid of all of it at the early stages even though it takes forever

Original brat roll bar fog lights??
turbosubarubrat replied to scooter0000's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i dont think subaru had any for the roll bar that came stock but if your going for the stock look get the factory driving lights from the 80's that are square and put them on the roll bar, if don't really care just put a pair of good quality lights like kc, piaa, or hella, also what year of brat? i have a 85 with a roll bar but i dont have any on it because i have to take the roll bar off during the winter to put on the canopy -
put the the third eye on today i customized the radiator support by drilling the spot welds out of the stock one and cutting the top of it off to make the third eye bolt on like factory all i need to do is wire it up and i cutt a whole in the grill so its a 5th eye, my dad was finally able to help me yesterday and got the motor back in:headbang:so i hooked up a bunch of stuff but one of the exhaust studs broke:mad:

its been a while since i have been able to do anything since school started but i cut the rust out of the tail gate and am going to weld it back together since i got a welder:headbang:i made a frame for a set of subaru brat seats i have on craigslist right now for my dad https://post.craigslist.org/manage/3292193887 and i also took the gas tank off the 79 brat and found black build up on the inside from it sitting 16-18 years without much of anything done to it but sit for years, luckily there was no rust picture update when facebook works thats where i keep pictures

Another 150$ subaru!
turbosubarubrat replied to AKghandi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
my dads good at picking up subarus cheep, we got a 78 brat for $100 got running next day, another 78 for $200, a 79 for $350, a 1985 gl wagon fuel injected auto for $100 bucks running, a 1987 gl wagon for free got running next day, and rest where in the thousand range but any subaru in decent shape is worth at least $1000 but it doesn't give you the great filling of having another subaru that you barely payed anything for that runs better than your daily driver:cool: -

the 82-87 brats will also work too if your only looking for doors(different glass) and fenders and mechanical parts all are the same(besides drive live and a few other things do to length difference) and everything is the same from the doors to the front bumper, the hatch are prity much the same from 82-87 besides lights as they pointed out -
