Need gen 1 passenger door handle arm
turbosubarubrat replied to O.C.D.'s topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
u can make alot of stuff like that easy i think the ea81 brat has a similar one that would work on the door without much work, i used one of those but cut about 1/4-1/2 of it apart and bent it to make the tail gate work on the 79 brat im restoring:headbang: -
haven't primed or painted it yet went back to school this week so very tired and haven't even got to touch it

i remember u saying u wanted a set of 15 inch peugeots, i found a set on craigslist but the guy wants to sell them with the car or he said he would change his mind for the right offer heres the link http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/3252919610.html

sounds to me like its getting to much gas in the carb. making it sputter and buck because its drowning the carb. with to much gas which is why your smelling unused gas, my brat started having the same problem as yours and its parked for now waiting for a carb. rebuild (maybe spark plugs are not gaped right?)

the carbs. bolt on in different patterns so you would need a adaptor plate or do something custom -

your going to need to rebuild the carb. if its been sitting 3 years, my 85 brat ea81 sat basicly 2 years without being driven much and the carb. went bad so it needs rebuilt because its dumping to much gas into the carb. causeing it not to pass deq:mad: and my motor and tranny both only have between 30-40 thousand on them (jap. imports) so your going to run into that problem maybe but if yours only has 80 thousand on it should be fine because they run to 200-300 thousand without any major repairs besides stuff needed along the way;) -
not sure yet but think my dad wants it green but the green we bought is really dark so might pick out another color or mix in white to make it lighter and need to pick up some more primer first
-
major pick update getting ready for priming and painting also moved her to another green house to prevent offspray im going to paint the the engine compartment to:brow: where it was in the green house above the one it was mostly apart now most of the engine compartment apart/before washing after washing and taking apart the engine compartment the rest im going to cover and tape perfect time for ej swap right:lol: but staying with stock engine to keep original its going to look great once painted and put back together and done;)

get a multimeter and see if your getting juice to it and go from there, and looks like u need a dash cover:lol: you can get them on ebay or jc whitney http://www.jcwhitney.com/dashmat-dashboard-cover/p2020663.jcwx?filterid=d1927y1979g81j1 -
this might sound stupid but have u checked spark plugs yet? that has fixed one of my dads problems before, my sisters geo metro would do the same thing once warmed up and started bucking really bad so we replaced parts and checked fuel pressure, for vacume leaks, even replaced fuel pump, throttle body, but it was the spark plugs, one of them had the electrode broke off so it didn't fire the spark right and once warm up the geo would run on two cylinders so ran really crappy and under powered with the bucking so changed all spark plugs and it was gone:headbang: another problem my dads has got the ea82 and ea81 subarus to run on 3 and even 2 scylinders but they run very crappy with bucking;)

if u want to get rid of it take these two wires off the ignition once u take off the colum covers and take off the ignition cover
-
the suspension also adjusts about a inch up in the front (probably less) for more clearance so the tires wont rub if they do
-
