im thinking about one for my 85 brat but im trying to figure out where it would even go i know its in the dash, i'll have to check out my extra dash to see where it would go
-
did u do any thing to the ignition, the only time when my 85 brat wouldn't turn off is when the wire thing thats on opsit side of ignition on steering wheel(dont know what its called) i think we put it on backwards causing it to not be able to shut off, also the ding ding sound wire was is hook up to the ignition so kept that unhooked when i changed it but forgot to unplug it from another spot so i had a current going on the dash dont know if that helps any i also dont if that is even close to your problem but if u where messing around with the steering wheel it could very well could be the problem

i was looking on ebay and found a add for anther site where there selling computer chips for $69 that claim that they increase horse power up to 60 and mpg up to 7 more, it says that it will raise the horse power up to 128 on the gl but not sure if thats true, but i dont want to steer u the wrong way because i dont know how well it works or even if it works heres a link http://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=CQHLxK30QUNX4OMXYqwG7kYCQCuWE13rJ1omdI6GJ4qEqCAAQAigDUNXd4qr7_____wFgyYb-i8yk1BmgAf78jf8DyAEBqgQdT9Coq2VYeaPrFCGssVgGY54Ok-8IeV-eMfZbo_g&sig=AOD64_0ye1IbWe-fnDy08kTzTX0B4HHTRA&ved=0CGEQ0Qw&adurl=http://www.performancechipsdirect.com/Subaru/ hope it helps

almost seems worth making one out of aluminum for better durability and it wont rust(only down side it dents more easy than steel)
-
because of the rust on your wagon i think some of the connections are probably coardid up or it has a short in the wiring some where, the electrical cleaner in a spray can works good and it can save lots of time, did u check all the fuses? thats what i do, i start with the ones that are what the problems in wiring and check the rest.

cant wait to see the brat:headbang:that thing is going to be awesome and kick rump roast:cool:any pics or threads of the brat:brow:
-
almost forgot because i live on a nursery(tree farm, Chatelain Nursery if u want to know) so we get something like 10% discount of all parts at carquest, napa, and o-rileys:headbang:
-
my brat came with both jap. imported motor and tranny in it with 30-40k after the owner before me blew both under a week dont know why the guy didnt put in a new clutch when he put in the tranny and motor, but was glad it came with a new clutch when we pulled the motor and tranny apart it was pritty thin and had no wear/traction left on it to be used
-
i was going to say if u where going to lower the brat it would of been stupid to buy the peugeots because my 85 brat has them on it now and it only rubs on very sharp turns on front fenders with stock suspension(i need to tighten suspension which will lift it about another inch), because u have your wagon very smart buy:clap::clap:these wheels are so awesome lifts the car about 2-3inches more than stock wheels looks like your brat's going together good like mine:D. u going to get a roll bar?
-
if it is the clutch its way better than the one in my brat it was so bad that it wouldn't move more than a couple inches each way no matter how much gas u gave it
-
carquest and napa are only 1-2 miles from my house there basicly across the street from each other, o-rileys is about 12 miles from my house do most of my parts at carquest because every one knows me and my dad there and plus there is a guy there who owned a 82 brat dl hard top that i like to talk to and show pictures to but also go to napa and o-rileys to compare prices
-
i like o-rileys and carquest they always get the parts right but also go to napa when carguest doesn't have it and dont want to drive 30min but napa has screwed up some of are orders really bad but they had both rebuilt kits i need for the 1800 and 1600:D

wouldn't rethreading it make really small pieces of metal go through the engine? -

i know:cool:there in fantastic shape:headbang:, the wagon could still be a daily drive if it gets wheel, rear differential, drive line, the parts i got, and front seat, top radiator support, radiator, motor and tranny, the guy used it to rebuild his 82 dl brat hard top
-

13 vs 14 inch jackman wheels
turbosubarubrat replied to Brat78's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
yes im sure we parked it next to another subaru wagon not a brat but they have basic the same stock ride hight and my brat was about 3-2 inches taller:cool: it also depends on tire size i've been runing 195/75/14's biggest tire without lifting it:headbang: -
yah its very nice during the winter and when its raining because it stays warm but its a green house about 80ftx20ft and during the summer its over 10-15 degrees hotter than outside so when its 90 its 100-105 but u can still cetch me out there working on the brats:grin:

go to peugeot 14in rims there on my 85 brat now:Dthey give u a 3 inch lift:headbang: -
ej it:headbang:except that is expensive and time consuming as u can see in other threads;)
-
paint i used on air cleaner assembly this stuff works great for the wheel wells
-
Got some parts in Bend:headbang:got 2 wheels, glove box door and shelf, and door handle plastic pieces:headbang::cool:also put on the parts besides the rims:D The parts came off a 83 wagon the guy used for parts for his dads 82 dl brat hard top. Engine/tranny in the wagon was really clean with only 70k on them before it got in a little accident. Had been sitting since before 2000 with tags expired. got crappy tires off thanks to my dad and his tire machine:Dthey look great going to clean up tomarrow

Gen1 Brat, more legroom possible?
turbosubarubrat replied to BlindSight's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
ok guys i seriously think this it a go-kart steering wheel thats custom because it doesn't have any numbers on it/brands measuring it with my hand then back at my house its 9in from the inside so its small but it gives more leg room i can get pics/measurements of the back if u want so u can make it
