  3. I'm also a new brat owner from Portland, used to live in WA but had to get out. just picked up a 79. Ill post pictures of mine if you post some of yours.
  4. Crazy that a millionaire or billionaire would own a 79 Subaru wagon. Its Nice that he kept it in a garage and it appears to be in great shape as a result. congrats on the find, its always nice to when all the pieces come together.
  5. First, with cash gets it. Only listing it on this forum though..

  8. Nice BRAT, I can always appreciate a nice straight subaru.
  9. I like modding the original equipment to still appear stock, I love factory style and simplicity. My 87 is actually one of the nicer GLs that you see on the street now a days, I keep it stock and clean even with its 242k miles. Here are a couple pictures of the 80 GL. its a project but i picked it up for $350. 128k runs drives smooth--
  10. I was using a aftermarket, I went back to stock one that I pulled from the picknpull. solved all the issues I was having

  11. ok, duh. I was using an internally regulated alternator. thats done, as for the turning off issue could that also be attribute to the wrong alt. as far as internal systems and external.
  12. I have the EA82 in the 87 and a EA71 in the 1980... as far as witch i like best, it would have to be a toss up. they both are great engines.
  13. I am new to this forum and have already posted on intro page. I have been pulling my hair out on a 1980 subaru gl wagon to no avail, I need some help trying to diagnose two electrical problems. I am getting no power to the fuel pump after it starts running. It gets power while cranking but that's it. and after it is running on the limited fuel it does not turn off with the key i can turn it to the off position and it keeps running till it dies from lack of fuel. Iv tried 3 different regulators, I can turn the fuel pump on manually while running by connecting the circuit in the regulator. Iv tried another ignition switch no change Iv swapped in 2 different alternators since i know these run off the charging system. Iv tried another fuel pump any ideas?
