  1. Update: I just ordered the adheasive promotor, I should have it sometime next week. I just need to get a cheap spray gun and some thinner now.
  2. Okay first of all is it an auto or Manuel. Second how well matched are the tires and are there any sighns of tourque bind when turning. How long has it been since the transmission fluid has been changed. It might be a good idea to have your mechanic go with you on a 10-15 mile drive and let them see what its doing.
  3. Sometimes they can be stubborn to get off. You can pry carefully along the edge toward the head side since it will need to be resurfaced anyway small scratches won't hurt just try not to force anything it will pop off eventually.
  4. How are your tires? Are they all matching? I know my five speed did this when I put a used set of tires on that had slightly different tread wear, they were a matching set, but the fronts had a little more tread than the back.
  5. It sounds exactly like what is happening with my car. If you hold the key in the on position it will slowly click. If I go under the hood and Manuel trigger the starter it works fine. Then it works for a couple weeks and does it again. There is two interlock switches on the clutch pedal that I have replaced both and nothing so I believe it is the interlock relay. Only the MT has the starter interlock relay.
  6. That makes me feel a little better, I have a good idea of what to buy from where from years of experience, but that is a problem now that I need to get as much volume as I need to actually get a discount. I have a feeling its going to take a couple years to build up enough volume to actually get a steady discount. At the moment its frustrating because I'll get a discount for a while and then I won't. I get so confused about the prices that I haven't caught two overcharges on parts, seems to be about what my mark-up is both times. First time they gave me back the overcharge and the second time just happened today so I've got to drive 18 miles to town (one way) to get my $20 mark up back wich will pay for the trip
  7. I did say business, and this is the shop talk forum.
  8. The MTs have starter interlock relays. When your trying to start it foes it make a clicking noise behind the dash? Mine has been doing this lately and I keep meaning to fix it. You can also pull the trigger wire and short positive to trigger post with key on to start it (warning make sure your in nuetruel with e brake on for safety!). It could also be starter contacts wich can be replaced if its the original starter.
  9. I do have enough experience to not go by their database, wich is another reason I have no interest in using them for business. Rock auto is good for the do it yourselfer that has time to deal with their shnanagins, but as a business I need to be able to trust my supplier is going to get me the right parts and I don't want to have to double check prices or part #s
  10. I would see how your alarm is installed, but if its factory than yes the wiring will more than likely be there.
  11. I'm just saying that they aren't a good solution for a business. I might as well buy my parts from Napa if rockautos my only choice.
  12. Does the 99 have a 2.5 or a 2.2? If it has the 2.5 the 97 2.2 will bolt right in and plug right in, but if it's a 2.2 it will be different electronicaly. I beleive it can still be swapped, but its not plug and play.
  13. I've had the same tub of high temp grease I've had for pretty much when I started working on cars. Its a plain Jane multi-purpose high temp grease. I've tried enough types of the brake slide pin grease to know I don't like them much, they seem too sticky IMHO. My multipurpose grease has never let me down yet.
  14. Rock auto sucks for a bussines, the way they figure shipping is annoying and time consuming and their prices aren't great either.
  15. I live in a fairly small town and we only have two parts suppliers. So far the locally owned parts store I've been going to for years has been going downhill bad lately. The only other option I have is a Napa auto parts store down the street that is just as bad if not worse. Most of the parts are inline with what they should be. But ocaisionaly they get just really stupid. For an example I wanted a gates timing belt kit for a 90 Mazda MPV. They quote me $165 I check online and I can get the same exact kit for $90. Most of the time they are within $20 wich is fair, I don't expect them to meet online prices. I am getting tired of being f-ed over and not being able to trust my parts supplier. Does anyone know if there is an online supplier that could be used for business? I am going to be doing some research and it will need to be good and fast shipping for a reasonable price. Then I will only use Napa for parts I need imediatly.
  16. Resistor pack failure? I've ran power straight to the fan for a temporary fix before.
  17. I thought I'd post my findings on the three types of oil I tried 1.) Conventional gear oil 2.) subarus extra s replacement HDGO 3.) Motul 300 All cold weather shifting comoarisons 1.) Feels like molasses and takes forever to get warm enough to shift properly. 2.) Better than conventional oil, but is not great cold shifting 3.) Great, even in the coldest mornings cold shifts are great and all around performance increased. RPM shifting with the conventional oil was almost impossible, but now is easy and very comfortable. Low end performance is better IMHO. I feel that this oil will actually help increase the life of my transmission. A word of warning motul 300 is sold by the liter and I almost over filled my trans mission thinking they were quarts. In my opinion, subarus extra s replacement is okay, much better than conventional oil, but doesn't hold a flame to the motul. I will be running motul in all my Manuel trans subies from now on.
  18. From my experience there isn't any real power till you hit 4k+ then its like oh so that's what its supposed to be like. If you suspect something is wrong I would start with a good fuel system cleaning. I would start by changing the fuel filter and running some good fuel injector cleaner for a couple tanks. I also just changed my gear oil with motul 300 and I may be imaging things, but it seems like my low end has gotten more responsive lately like it has less drag. That could be wishful thinking though.
  19. Will do, my hopes are high. Once dry it seems it will be a nice match with only a couple coats and maybe a final coat of gloss when its all said and done. I'm going to have to order the plastic adheasion promoter so it will probably be a few days before I get that, but I'll post an update when I get everything.
  20. Looks like I got a match! Now I just need the adheasive promoter and I'll be good to go. This is a custom blue latex interior paint & primer I picked up at my local hardware store.
