  1. Subruise, if armorall degrades plastic, what do you put on your dash to keep it from cracking? I'd rather use armorall than nothing
  2. In 81? I'm sorry but I've never seen any 81 with an ECM in any brand except cadilac. I can look this up and I think I will, I could beleive 83, but not 81.
  3. fuel pumps can go quite a while before they go out, depending on how they are going out.
  4. find out what your misisng, buy a cheap spark tester and when it dies plug the spark tester in and see if it has spark. if there is no spark it would most likely be the electronic module in the distributor or a coil, if it has spark then it is a fuel related problem and would most likely be a bad fuel pump.
  5. IIRC the 84 2wd california carbd cars had an ecu, im not familier with the turbo cars but this isnt a turbo, as far as i know for the NA motors in 83 there was no ecu
  6. Good info, but an 83 brat doesn't have an ECM. The wiring may be differant on the car your talking about. It could be there so not a bad idea to take a look.
  7. Brake cleaner would work better probably since it doesn't leave any residue unlike carb cleaner.
  8. No problem just p.m. A mod for this forum if you want it deleted.
  9. This belongs in the subaru parts stuff for sale section, a mod will see it and move it probably.
  10. Just give it as much force as you can with a breaker bar and you'll probably be fine. Just don't jump on the breaker bar tightening it
  11. No if its an old gen then most likely is an open diff
  12. Someone replaced it with a two prong is what happened you have the right area, the thermo switch for the fan is also single prong and is in the radiator.
  13. No that's the thermo switch for the fan, the temp sender for the gauge is in the intake, its a single prong sender, its fairly easy to find
  14. Like turbone said its the purge control cylinoid. To find a vaccume leak I use carb choke cleaner, on a cold engine only, spray along vaccume hoses and connections, EGR ect. When you spray where the leak is the engine will bog down.
  15. A search will show you fairly quickly, but since im posting anyway its right above the hood release
  16. The early ej's arn't much Better, I've had this problem in a few first gen legacys
  17. I hate the 90s subaru window switches, I've had tons of problems with them in my legacys
  18. 36mm is the axle nut size, bring a propane torch and a BFH in case of seized bolts. Definatly bring a breaker bar, breaker bar and BFH= poor mans impact diver. Edit: 36mm is not the right size for the axle nut, I was thinking old gen for some reason sorry.
  19. Check out the subaru parts/stuff for sale section and maybe put up a thread in the subaru parts/stuff wanted section.
