Toyota 20R into a 1987 Subaru Wagon
monstaru replied to The Beast I Drive's topic in Subaru Transplants
the 22rt would be the way to go.but , you would probably need another 6 or so inches.,cause those motors are tall.the running gear you are right on.there are two major problems, the first being the motor height, and the second being the starter placement on either....it is reversed.toyota is on the passenger side.i already went through this one, until i just bought a complete frame and decided to hook an ej22 up to the toyota transfer case. -
and they also use cornay joints.which are extremely expensive.........i actually contacted a company about having cornay joints made for the brat.after i got them to reply,(like 6 months or so),they finally told me that they did not make a model for it so they would have to do a run and it was like 15 or 20 thou for a run of like 8 or 10 axles.i was gonna do it ,but i'm not ************in rich.
-
granted ken, i have broken a dog bone or two. but it was just more accentuated when they were broken. and in my case all bushings and suspension pieces were new.:-\

actually,it is very easy to spin mine as well.admittedly,i am the first one to push the haul rump roast button.but even when i don't ,takin tread off is always the case.the only thing that helped me was different tires.maybe it is the size that matters:grin: they are on 15" rims. i went from 225 75 14's to 235 75 15's .i still had lift when i put the hammer down, but was more controlable.at that point all i was longing for was power.mmmmm power....grulelruel(sound of homer longing)

and i am coming over on the 9th of august.getting these things to you guys is not a big deal, but remember i hate seattle.i will be goig to olympia to pick up a camper. so i have to get these items to you before i can even try to accomplish my main goal.i am willing to stay until friday morning if need be.it would be cool if we could all meet up at once.if that turns out to be the case maybe we can meet at someones place between oly and sea town. rob?where the ************ is bonney lake ,and is it in the middle of such?cheers, brian

i had this happen on my brat, but only after i messed with the front block geometry.and it was an ea81 motor.the v-dubbers have a term for it but i do not know what it is.

are you just lookin for somethin to sell it with?or somethin to use?because i may have both.i have some muddies that are hankooks with about 40% tread.they have studs, but i have never had a problem...then again i don't try to climb rocks.anyways,i'll be making my way over with some other stuff in the beginning of august.i'll get pics if interested.cheers, brian

RFLMAO,third times a charm -
anything is possible. the thing to remember at this point is that you have already modded the piss out of it.why not go further?i imagine that 24 mm square tubing can be found with something like a 3 or 4mm wall.making a subframe is still within the rules:-p ................cheers, brian

heat?it has been damn hot in our parts lately........

ok, so i didn't make it to the show with this. i have mounted a 32/36 to mine.it so wants to fire.i cannot get her to go though.still don't know why.gonna try a different coil next.i have spark, fuel and am supposedly timed right.(according to the original man to do this mod for aircraft.)so i am at a loss right now.i really think i need more juice.we'll see though.cheers, brian

it's not nice to destroy trees. tread lightly now and you have something to look at later.don't you think that there is enough destruction on this earth already?k,i'm done. -
smartass........ ok and,"i'm broke";that pretty much sums it up.you can pretty much fix these cars somehow at anytime for no more than 150 bucks-ish.well, i usually do it for lesss.because i have bought entire cars(like the one sitting in my driveway)for 100 bucks all day long.legos mate, legos. and to lift and modify my brat i am into that thing about 2 grand ....total.to lift a chevy k20 i had properly it was going to be in the thousands.not to mention the tires.anyways.if you like 'em you'll stick around.if you don't you'll sell your car and say piss on'em.cheers, brian
