yeah, but you can't buy an entire car there for 200 bucks.

i know where a ok to good body is for you to swap your motor into. the guiy wants 200 bucks for the car, with bad motor and no wheels.bring your wheels and you could get a rig that is already a 4wd. wouild need to be towed.

I'm sitting here, looking at the ol' EJ22 Beetle...
monstaru replied to Nug's topic in Subaru Transplants
that was my exact idea for the baja project i have.i say do it if you are going to keep it. making manifolds is not that hard.some pipe and plate is all it takes. and so far the numbers i have run show that the 48's would be an awesome choice with a little polishing here and there. -
first of all...it is possible to build anything.second of all, like my avatar, bumpers can be made to fit.i got mine from a mazda b2500.made my own brackets though.just take a measuring tape to the junkyard. i have been thinking about rocksliders for a while. the only option i can think of is the semi-framerail underneath being sandwiched between two mouinting pieces. i was thinking of a one piece for both sides just for strength.but who knows.cheers, brian

i know my plate is fine.it was done cnc style. you need to cut out a bellhousing of an old tranny ,4 or 5 spd. then utilize that for your " other " side.

Cargo Baskets for the Stock Roof Rack?
monstaru replied to mikeshoup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
back to topic.mike, i have fit a 195/75/14 in my tire well.granted, there is a weber in there.yakima makes a rack that is very basic but useful. http://www.yakima.com/Product.aspx?id=71 you may have to utilize a little fab work to avoid buying the clamps for the basket, but there are options for that. you just have to be creative. -

it is ok to be sensitive to cars feelings....thats what makes us car "nuts". just don't let it get to the point where you have three or four sitting around that you feel "bad " for. i know i do. projects pile up real quick. -
i will be ddragging with the brat it is in the process of coming off of the road and gettinng the swap, just not the normal swap. should be around 150 hp in a 2300 pound car. at least the 2300 is right now.i will be lightening(haha) the load.was thinking about using gas(propane),but i don't know if i will find a tank by then. should be fun.the ol'lady is into it too.stokedd am i,because when the ol'lady is behinnd it that means i can do it right. cheers, brian

ok mate. here is where i stop you. have you ever ripped a spacer, block out of the body? until you have tried these things,i suggest you keep your"opinions" to yourself.experience is what helps others not injure themselves. i don't care what mechanical theory you are working with, experience is what helps people not get hurt. should i say it again?

i am so stoked to hear that.i am doing the same thing to a friends car this week and maybe even weekend.have the motor sitting down stairs, just waiting for the timing belt.damn good to here this report.damn good. cheers, brian

so i have found out that there are mud drags in our area, along with "tuff truck" type of stuff going on in different areas of eastern washington and northern idaho. my goal this year is to try and make it to these events and do as much damage as possible. because with out damage, there is no mechanical advancement. i will add more info as i get it hopefully.as long as i remember to look at this.

you gotta start videoing this stuff..... we could sell it,i promise. -
so my friend got an ej22 from a 95 today.the engine is getting dropped off tomorrow.the car by friday.should be fun.not a total stranger to the 2.2 .from what i gather...it should be smooth.gettin a timing belt, idlers(gear too),front and rear main, water pump, and such to go on the yard motor.it has 130 thou on it.no sign of leakage and excellent compression readings(175-185 all 4).i imagine this motor will get him several thou more.stoked to help out.it's really fun when you realize that you can actually do something that most won't.
