  1. turn the tires.if they spin the same way.you have one.
  2. i don't have those...... hmmm,i wonder why,yep i cut 'em you just have to clean the sides of your valve covers more often.
  3. i adapted an escort or exp disty to fit the end of the camshaft on the passenger side of the engine. http://www.prachapter34.com/converting_engines.htm very simple i am still trying to get around to building the intake.i really do not want to outsource it .so have been trying to find the best way of accomplishing it myself. pm me and i can send some other pics than what are on the website.
  4. the one time i actually read something in time and i am heading to the west side!arrrrgghhh
  5. it looks like something is wrong with your tranny....there is no rear output shaft;)
  6. if you are riding it hard and they have not busted through yet, then keep trying.i had a hell of a rust bucket at one time and romped the piss out of her in the oregon backcountry and drove out several times.granted it wasn't pretty, and it wasn't noiseless, but it worked.if you are that concerned,do a 4x swap onto the other car and forget about it.
  7. already thought about it. i have an extra ej sitting around as to why i have inquired.if i have to spend that kind of money i will just get a diesel.the stock drivetrain is rather weak.once again, how do you torque it up.....? my goal is to keep everything stock accept the engine, tranny and transfer case.
  8. the gearing is in the willys is 4.88.so technically it should push it. the torque ratio is more of what i am looking at.how can i get more low end torque from the ej?at the weight difference they have, pulling the 6 and going to the ej should even out the weight pretty much.i mean ,what am i not understanding about the torque issues?can someone please educate me for ************ 's sake
  9. i would really think that you need it to be "loaded".......ya know, give a couple shots of whiskeyand some beer:lol:i would think that you would need to load it so that your camber can be adjusted, unless you have a way to adjust it.........cheers,brian
  10. but they are pretty much the same specs i came up with already.they don't sway enough to be of concern in the process of elimination.
  11. those are the only ratings i could find.my search skills suck, but finnding info on a motor that is as old as the original, has proven to be harder than i thought.the torque numbers are as stated above .
  12. i couldn't hear you if you were screaming in my ear.......how did youknow i was looking at superchargers today:headbang:
  13. i am currently contemplating putting an ej22 into my 55 willys.i have been looking at weights, torque and horsepower ratings and i am wondering if they will even each other out.the 137hp,137@3400rpm... legacy ....opposed to 105 hp,190@1400..willys.....the weight of the vehicles, believe it or not ,only has a difference of 500 pounds or so.whatcha thinkin?
  14. the airflow characteristics i was looking at with my dubrod had the placement exactly where you are locating it.i actually was going to take the entire firewall and flipupside down with the 90 degree angle going into the cabin and just add sides.cut a hatch and voile'.with more room you are able to mount pretty much whatever fan you wanted including ,possible a 12 volt operated squirrel cage fan, otherwise known as a heater fan on steroidws(was going tobuild if could not buy reasonably).was hoping to find one with enough power that it could push hot air from the radiator through something like you have into the cabin for heat.just thoughts of the maniacal carbuilder in me.who knows.yours is definitely on the level.the only other thing i came up with was to build a roof wide scoop about an inch tall to curve down through the side pillars in the rear with sculpted venting onto the radiator, wait, your building a baja.why don't you just get a roof vent and pipe it to your radiator.i was dealing with a rod.you have the perfect out ,at least it seems that way to me.cheers, brian
  15. they cannot help with clearance issues, subframe issues, weight distribution, and so on.at least not as much as someone that knows his subie engine, and his dub chassis like the back of his hand.
  16. i have specific questions for someone that has done this.i know you are out there.come to papa...........damnit
  17. old school tie rod.cut steering shaft, place into ends of desired length of tie rod....weld. it helps if you use a piece of angle iron to keep stuff squared up.... with that angle you will probably have to grind a bit off of the end of your steering column so it doesn't rub horribly.
  18. yeah there are forums, and yes i have even seen them.i hate making new friends and want someone familiar with soobs to pass on the info. after all , i don't speak volkswagen yet.
  19. ok, so this is my latest project.there was a guy on here that did this to a baja....who was it,i need some details.cheers, brian
  20. i have been researching this for a while now.longer travel struts, rebuilt crossmember with hoops at the top and cvs that are extendable like some driveshafts.of course custom control arms.these are all in the works for the brat.i have already built a prototype for the struts, but not long enough for what i want to achieve.it is all coming around slowly.you know as well as i do morgan that money plays a huge part in all of it.when another rig is less modified and more capable, people tend to gravitate towards it.whatever rig it may be.just my 2 cents.
  21. yep,baccaruda and i are in spokane.whatcha need?
