i have a 4 inch byb, with kyb struts/rxsprings in the front and stock shocks in the rear..a few adjustments here and there.some mods and some stock stuff.ya know, it is pretty much like everyone elses........only with my little touches..... Those "geek lights" don't look long for the real world of bush bashin' those "geek lights" are classic turn signals from a 1978 honda cvcc.......they will be moved inside when i make a mount for my skidplate .......right now i don't do that much bush bashin anyway.....you should stay on trails,it's better for the environment and they have bigger ruts anyhow. it looks like they do block them doesn't it.......i thought i was screwed on that too.but it does n't block 'em at all when they are on.i tried 'em in the dark before i drove it on the street.

gurgling sound behind passenger dash
monstaru replied to depleted's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i had that sound once, and di not have this resource to let me in on all kinds of goodness. i blew a geadgasket from looking at everything but the coolant.mine sounded more like a rat scratching in a cardboard box..nahh, it was actually gurgling. -
i was in an accident a while back and it was he ll to deal with the insurance co.......don't settle no matter what ....it will get bigger.they know they are at fault and are trying to utilize diversion tactics .getting the the facts mixed up is hell in a case like this .do not take the attention away from the fact that your car was what most of us would kill for.i'd sign a petition for that......

since finding a diff lock has proved to be somewhat impossible i have been scheming about aan axle lock.using only one manufacturede piece that would be stronger than the axles and stubs ,so breakage is still in it's place.everyone is trying to make it too difficult i feel.don't get me wrong , i am not an engineer , but i do have an understanding of mechanics and if it stays simple murphy has less to put in your face.obviously things are needing to be tested, but i think it is promising.

this kinda happened to me not so long ago.do you have a wayto get a diagram?i bet your ground broke.check at the passenger side inside your rear fender.pull the lense and mount out lookl at all of the connections and see if there is a broken wire there.then follw it all the way to the other taillight.it will go through the license plate lights(do those work?)and over to that side maybe defrost if you have it.you may have to look at the innards of the hatch too.i betcha it is a broken wire right at the connection....

yeah , if i didn't have some of the tools i found at junkyards i would have half as many tools.. i am sure i have lost quite a few too:banghead:

i got'em on ebay............Auctionfrontierthey have an e-bay store.they had like 10 sets or something like that. and my experience was pretty good as well russ,i have had that front end apart so many times that all the bolts were easy:grin: i would have liked to get super pro's but i was not chasing my klunk at that time........,and i definitely need some give for the beast. -
and balljoints.well, i did my strut rod bushings and control arm bushings today.as usual i read for about an hour before and quite a bit in between.had to get the sleeves of the control arm bushings heated and pressed out.crazy.the guy tried it the first time and just could not believe it did not come out.thats what 230,000 miles will do to them.man my strut rod bushings werea little to soft for me.all in all it was a good day.......still have thatdamn clunk.......engine and tranny mounts(thanks jamie, hella cheaper) are here and awaiting install.maybe tomorrow if i don't work.i am gonna be super pissed if it is the coil spring moving around in the strut.........

dig it..... -
well, the passenger side is at the end of the line.your whole setup runs from...lets say firewallish to just the other side of your passenger headlight.meaning that it is at the end of the circuit pretty much.spin the tips of your test probes a little each time you test.it helps with the connection.your readings are probably ok.check alt connections ,well check all connections you can get your hands on.the wires should be red-white, red-black, and black.one of them is dim,one of them is bright, and the black is ground.which wire did you test with which results?replace the headlight and clean all your contacts.then test it and see the difference.check for loose ground wires in the pin connectors as well.....just my 2 cents this is also from my wiring diagram....86 brat.......

Got amps? GM Alternators! (pics and part#'s added)
monstaru replied to RavenTBK's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
back from the dead,i don't have pics, but after a year i finally did this swap.i wanted to find the 80 amp alt so that i could fit it without messing up the air cleaner.i followed the write up to a t and it was right on.i did need a little more taken off the ears, and made a small bracket for the adjustment bracket.but i was able to maintain my stock belt....it was a *************** gettin that belt on , but once it was on it did need tightening.my multimeter resukts follow:at rest 12.86,on:15.76...these readings are at the battery and at the alternator.my guage inside won't go over twelve, but whatever .i hav ethe results under the hood.....and brighter headlights. -
anyone got pics, renaissance man?i know you did it,did you ever get any pics of it seperately.....anyone else?thanks, brian

Front diff interchangeability: The true answer
monstaru replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ok , ok so let me get this straight.if i have an awd tranny from an early legacy, i can acquire the lsd from it and switch it to a 5spd d/r?and almost all awd trannies have these?bump from the pits of despair -
get a rocket box or something like that and utilize it to the tilt.having room inside is nice when you don't wanna fork out dough.do a complete tune up before your trip ,and at the end of your trip.it is about that amount of mileage anyway.grease your zircs, bearings and anything else you see .....there is alot of different kind of weather and crap you will drive through....you don't want ill effects from road elements, and last but not least, carry a full size spare with you.some places are really desolate.....
-
like....where'd you get yours? how much did you pay? and finally, anyone do it with out one? thanks, brian yeah yeah , i know , i can search too.....and i have .but i am still curious if most people make theirs and what it costs to buy one.i have searched online but all the places i found do not have a price list.
