monstaru replied to dragonwingsubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
from what i gather, get creative.there are a whole bunch of ideas and they are bound to work...what's yours?i have a few but am not to that point yet.deep to me right now is cutting the grill in half with water.yet i still have been to my local hardware store and thought about it.just do it, and if it doesn't work , do it again. -

i only have one question.....what are you going to do to the back?
-
the chevy rims i have are from the early 80's and have the 3.75 backspacing......it seems that whatever rim you are looking at calls for a test fit....regardless of knowledge......every one has different ideas of what is "legal" to run on your rig...

my exhaust guy said that it would be much easier to just make a custom dual,x-style pipe to actually dual it out with and run the pipes next to the frame and out the sides.he said it would be cheaper too.just a thought....

i can really only try to answer.........i say start by bleeding your brakes.......clean out your fuel lines by trying seafoam which is available at your local parts store....following instructions as they are stated on the bottle and most important of all take as many gallon jugs you can find and fill them with gas, place them in your trucks bed ,preferably in a field somewhere and put the tailgate down, tape them all together ,place pieces of metal to all of them and get your fav. shotgun out........

very nice.....lookin good man...lets see some mud!

do you have a broken flathead screwdriver around?i just put a fairly large broken flathead in the pinch bolt groove and pounded it in until it stopped, sprayed some pb blaste rup in there and let it soak, tapping ever so gently(yeah right)on the casing around the ball joint and then pryed it out........if you do not want to break one of your own screwdrivers,go buy a 1.99 deal at the parts store, they are easy to break , trust me......stick it in the formentioned slot and pry with it....it will break.the put in the slot and pound it in.it will stop and it should give you the room to get that booger out of there.

i was contemplating a coilover shock for the front of the brat,i realize the weight issue, but if a big enough one was found......hmmmm does anyone have any experience with this?
