  1. like hatch said, the steering is about the easiest.go for it!diy has always been my fav.....
  2. i guess i have just been lucky all 10 times i have done it.the first one i did was not a hitachi, yet it still went alright.i have rebuilt three hitachi's in the past six months and the only trouble i have had with them is figuring out where to start with the fuel to air ratio.then i looked it up and found that it was like most other carbs i have ran acrossed.two turns out after lightly seated.i am no pro that is for sure.that is just what i have experienced.....thanks, brian
  3. buy a kit and pay attention to what you are doing.....it is not that hard as long as you lay out your parts in a clean environment and finish in the same day you start...the key is to clean clean clean.and to pay attention to what you are doing.i guess that would be keys......

  9. yeah i was yellin....i am so excited.....i believe the time has come to start driving her.i am finishing up my exhaust tomorrow or friday and taking her through emissions.she has new front rotors and pads.her calipers are good, now that they are clean.as soon as i am driving her ,i will install the rear discs that are in there respective box.gonna seal up the canopy.and she is definitely road worthy.and my insurance is only going up 65 bucks every 6 months!man am i stoked.i will finally be able to 4x again.i should be driving her in full force this weekend.yeeeehaaawwwwww
  10. ifyou don't have a meter, that means, seat the idle mixture screw lightly(all the way in)not tight, but just to where it starts to get tight.then back it off about two whole turns.start the engine, let it get warm ,have someone watching rpms and if you have to have it pass emissions, do not go below around 950 rpms,if you do not ,put it where you want it at.it is a touch and go type of thing.you may get different responses to rpms if you have rebuilt it, cleaned some of it but not all,etc....
  11. is it 0 continuosly?or does it raise as you drive?

  19. you don't have to look at them unless in your hanging out inside sitting on your axle ....
  20. go to your local j. y. and find an axle without tears in the boots and grab it. it is a gamble that it is a good one , but it is usually even cheaper than redoing both inner and outer.and when you have that one in you have the other one to rebuild at your convenience so that you have an extra just waiting to be installed.i unno, thats what i did and i lucked out with a good axle.cost me 20 bucks. and now i can rebuild my other one without worry.
