  1. by by carpet....I need a snorkel:banghead: It was a fun day, made some new friends and ************ed up my car.I would say , success:) She did really really good in the go fast sections.I am sure some bolts are loose, I know I need a starter, and most of all, my feet are not cold anymore.bonus! I like how she handles, I had to back up on a couple of things, but kicked rump roast on some OTher things.like the rocks .... fun trip
  2. Plain and simple.thats what this is meant to be.You are over complicating it.If you want to use metal then start a thread about metal. This was not really meant to be a discussion thread about all the ways to do a lift. I mean how many times do I need to state that..... I am trying to help people get a grasp, now that you have one, go.Do whatcha want with it. People wish to build things in different ways,It was never really meant for anyhting above 1" anyways.I did mine at 2" because that is where I wanted to go.I never really intended on using them, then decided I would try it, then decided I didna have the time. Cost comparison is still cheaper for plastics if you have time and tools.Well below the hundo or so for premade stuffs.Having the tools to pull of these blocks is alot cheaper than having the tools to fabricate metal.Alot more cost associated with the metal fab tools by far. I simply believe people should try there damndest to build their own ************, this is not the answer for all, only some. You keep coming back with other ideas that are preposterous.Do it however you want, but remember you were the one scrambling around to try an figure out how to do a lift, asking for specifics etc... Take it or leave it,I could care less. But DO NOT confuse the fact that I have been trying to help this entire time.Andyes, I like PBR.Is there a problem with that?I also brew beer in several different fashions, as well as liquor. I don't drink in the morning unless it is warranted:drunk:especially 6:30 in the morning..... Piss off, and have a good day:lol:
  3. We should all meet at the Westbay Napa(in Belfair,Wa.right up from Tahuya) at 9AM the 4th of Feb.. cheers, see ya Saturday! Who all has CB's? cheers
  4. You are making it more complicated than you need to.Just buy the right plastic. There is no need to try an mold anything. You need a square block about Xx6"x6"for each corner. DO you read?I said that I ended up using my METAL blocks.I simply made this how to , to show how easy it IS to make some smaller strut blocks out of plastics. There are other writeups out there that explain it a little better. But I was trying to show what could be done with some basic tools.
  5. You could read the how to lift stuff threads. This has been opinionized a lot... TRy the threads at the top of this offroad forum;) cheers
  6. We're gettin close.Who is still in? I have to find a skidplate, do some lights, and then , and then,oh yeah the toolbox in the back finally. We'll see how much of it I get done. Its pretty mellow out there so I hope to do some "GO FAST" stuffs. Cheers
  7. That makes me want to build a stage car.Good job! I was gonna ask what happened to the rolled beaut' , but then U 'splained:( Did they have to replace the cage due to rules?Or did I just miss that? Cheers.
  8. Yes, Yes it does. Keep goin.I have sold/traded off cars that I thought I didna WANT...Horrible horrible mistakes. Besides, Stella does not want kids:-p cheers
  9. Ok , so the "new" new trans is working out. I was leaving work on Tuesday and realized that the extremely CHU_UNK_EEE axle on my side front was not going to make it home.Went back to the shop and swapped it out for my spare and was on my way. Sweet, no wobble., sweet, no codes!nice... Ok so we have gotten about 14ish" of snow in Olympia this last day or so, and I went out today(no workie, pussies:)) and snow mobbed the livin hell out of her.It was pretty awesome. I fully enjoyed myself.ifi do not work tomorrow I will surely go to capitol forest. After driving around for most of the day, with lunch in between, I think that I defenitely found some boundaries. As well as figuring out that the car has serious torque, and power. It was hard for me to "keep" control, as it just wanted to break loose instantly. Granted, it has an LSD rear. And ok, the tires are not siped. But damn, when I was flippin broadies ,i was hittin 6500rpm and had everything to go....It was nuts. I think I might go to a poker run up at Elbe hills this weekend.I obviously won't be doing the trails at the end.But I might try to catch a ride with someone that does. I had a stock OBS park next to me , well, one spot over.and when I looked at the difference, I think I am looking at a good 6 inches over stock.Next time I see one, I will get a comparison pic cheers
  10. I have seen him creep around abit, but hasna been "on" the board for a while. Still has the car I think. Cool car for sure. cheers
  11. Well, I got tired of chasing codes down. Started lookin at everything, and it seems that the speedo gear in the current transmission is toast. Not being able to do much with the company I bought it from on the weekend,I started wondering how fun it was going to drive itt home in limp mode, again. Welp I guess it worked out because I found a trans on craigs list and quickly swooped it up.After looking at it and smelling fluids, and turning things, we were on our way. Started installing it a couple hours later in Mugs garage. The dude is a rockstar.Kick rump roast plain and simple. We got the old trans out and "new" one in 5 hours....
  12. If I had a proper invite I would have made it out.:/ And be a snob all you want Tahuya is a place for me to go fast and test the suspension. Then I'll hit Walker to see how it does in the mud. Then Evans in the Spring. Etc. I will do them all.;)because I live over here now. Then I'll start working on finishing the buggy and do some 'real' Wheeling;)
  13. I KNOW the leak is from the taillight.I found it 6 months ago, and thought I had fixed it.It is beyond "fixing",I need to tear it out.I used gasket maker.I need to get some urethane like they use from the factory. I hardly ever come here asking for little things like that, because I investigate before I post usually.Although I appreciate the sentiment,Mostly, I am not ever looking for input on my issues.Just on the radness:drunk: On to a better note, It still drives.:lol:And runs like a raped ape. Get the transmission issue fingered out, and I should be static for a while. cheers
  14. To be honest , I didna assemble the heads , so I didna pay attention very much to that end of it.Shims you say?Maybe have to do with HLA's?I don't have those , so................. :-\
  15. So I am driving yesterdayand look down to see how much I was speeding from thhe feel of it,and realize the speedo is erratic. And when i say erratic it was from 0 to 60 in like, a nanosecond. UhOH, :)damnit, ************ ************ damn....is what I thought. Then finally had a chance to take a look, seems to be from the speedo cable(trans end) that had come loose.Hopefully that is the culprit because it iis throwing a code for the speed sensor so it wanted to force it into limp mode. LA-ame, especially going down the freeway:banghead: It SEEMS that BEcause the two codes are combined ( 0743, and 1507, with the occasional 1540) the vehicle exhibited absolute detriment. It failed to stay running at one point and loaded the torque converter down with fluid and had absolutely nuthin.Ok, damnit, WTF do i do now.Still rolling, ************ , neutral .start the car, starts, no codes( due to my on the fly code clearing)runs fine.Come on baby just one more block to work and I don't have to leave you to the vultures. pull in to gas station, damn, so close.got like 15 minutes till work.Half block away.Go inside, get recovery drink.Walk out.clear codes again.Take off like a bat out of hell due to my anticipation of bogged down nature .Crazy.Work, on time. Damnit it's afternoon and I have to get home....:banghead:Gottta get to an appt. directly.I5 , her I come.Haulin rump roast, musta clearedd about 5 sets of codes to get her there. Got home, checked out the cable, then snugged her up.Then came in. I really need to fix this damn leak. ************:DDamn, I have to work on my car. cheers
  16. I have been throwing around ideas, But weight is something I have been thinking about. And , I seem to have the ability to stuff and stow ************ everywhere.I took out the rear hatch interior because I got tired of it being wet from last spring,Thought I had fixed the leak until I came over to the wetsidE and found it again. I think I am growing gills, which is weird for a bird, man, i'm tellin ya. I think that I gained about 5 cubic feet if not more just by taking out the stupid plastic on the sides. Even though I will have a case for the tools and parts, being able to stuff fluids and rags, and soft parts into the rear body crevices. cheers
  17. Why are they not going wheeling on their birthday? That is ashame.
  18. Ima do a shakedown run this day. I know some of NWWO is down, who else? Use a map to find out where it is, the interwebs are your friends.Mild trail , some mud holes, you COULD bring a stocker, but you would end up on the sidelines to watch.Thats cool too I guess.up to you! WHOS IN? cheers
  19. I just think it is a waste on a car like this.I found that I had the fuse out all the time anyway. So, when I installed rear disc's, I just cut the sensors off. OK, so , an update. New Thermostat from Subaru, check. CLicking from axle fixed, check. Leak over the taillight, hopefully check:banghead: The rear Lsd has calmed down , it needed to work the fluid in after sitting in a field for 2+ years. It works:drunk:. The solenoid B is gone out on the transmission.I got another from Eulogious yesterday.(Thanks BRo)I will probably attempt to install it this week , may have time, may not. I picked up an old carpenters kit box from my boss that he was not using. I will be using it inthe back hatch area for tool/parts storage. BLah blah...... Here is a picI shot in a parking lot last weeek next to a stock Outback:Just for reference;) cheers wheelin trip soon to Tahuya.I will post up a count thread!cheers:drunk:
  20. Do a 53 Willys wagon, Dodge diesel, 1983 Chevy 3/4 ton, umm ,I could go on. My Dodge is easy to work on.Everything is right out there where you need it to be. My Willys, the same thing.I have broken more tools working on Subarus then anything else. Some cheap, some not. end of story.
  21. I have broken breaker bars(2 in a day),split sockets, had to use 6 ft extensions, and had to give up(which I am not accustomed to)All obviously when I had no access to air tools. They are easy to work on as long as they have been maintained-ish.I have worked on a lot of other vehicles as well. The difficulty I speak of is an initial front or rear axle change, a frozen on rear diff stub, the infamous drivers side rear most bottom bellhousing bolt. All of the situations I speak of are very challenging for people that start out weith little to no tools, and or no know how.....************ , even with know how a stuck axle nut is a stuck axle nut. Point being is that are difficult situations that come up with these cars all the time. Don't mislead a guy that is soon to be in over his head anyway. What is easy for you, may not be easy to someone else , simply due to resources. Don't take it out of context , right? I have only had like 44 of these things.....:-p cheers
  22. Negative ghost rider, no oil burning .I had my heads rebuilt,so I would hope they put new valve seals in. ************ ABS ........ cheers
