  1. i would clean your pcv, and take your EGR valve off and clean it as well.some sea foam through a vacuum line , or the top of the carb will do wonders for you as well. replace all vacuum lines.it is really cheap to do.cheers, brian
  2. the KYB catalog is stupendous.........
  3. it's pretty easy mikey, you'll defenitely get it when you open her up......cheers, brian
  4. i drove it like that for a while, and had no problem , ever.i miss my old car..... even asked about it once.they said as long as it was visible. even better than putting it on my dash he said..........cheers, brian
  5. did someone leave a card in your spoke?:grin:cheers, brian
  6. were the axles hard to get on?they may be to compressed , or to short? i am assuming that you spun the diff a few times with stubs in it out of the car,you know, by turning the pinion?etc......cheers, brian
  7. nice sparks.i drove on a balljoint nut once, with NO tire.....i could not imagine doing it for like 40k.....
  8. bumpers...... ok folks, here are some examples of what you can do with a a bit of inginuity , or resourcefulness .........
  9. its a pain in the rump roast huh?:lol:what helped me when i did it was to take just a tad bit of meat off at a time.it really will make the fit easier to deal with .the studs can get cockeyed from being jolted around when they are mounted on the car....it is wise to take care of that issue before it really becomes an ISSUE.....cheers, brian
  10. looks good!you should give a run down of the gearing....cheers, brian
  11. are you in cheney?or are you on the WET side? the pressure plate is "sprung" remember......so it does move when you tighten it. no idea about the little ring you speak of.probably from the throwout bearing maybe?like an outer lip or something?cheers, B
  12. just remember, all of things have been contemplated, some of them even manufactured, and all of the same "fuse" issues become apparent.street driveability usually diminishes the more fabwork you do to these cars. your not the first, won't be the last, and probably not the only one that will get tired of trying to go "further " with these cars.... the wheel was already invented.just roll with it..... its all good, build something.its fun.cheers, brian
  13. i never said ANYTHING about drivin on the road:)......cheers, brian
  14. noone asked if this was a fulltime4wd trans either:).....so , i doubt it will "bind" like you seem to think it will their frogboy.....
  15. i don't hink i even explained what had happened.that was the first time i ever drove the brat farther than down the block.it had just came out of the garage for the first time.after installing the first hybrid aluminum/steel BYB lift kit i might add. i did not really expect to drive it, and when i pulled it off of the trailer at the shop, i was so damned excited that i drove it around the block, then pulled it in.we fixed her up.then he asked if i wanted to load it back up, and of course i said no.... and for the record.i have tightened lug nuts my whole life without a torque wrench.and this was the first time anything like this had ever happened.it was quite amazing. i am sure we looked like a pit crew going to town ......we got back to the house, i pulled it in the garage.right about that time, my wife(then GF) got home from work.she asked what was goin on, as we both slyly looked at each other sipping our beer, i said "nothin, how was your day?":)cheers, brian
  16. well, for the record.not a damn one of you has welded the diff, visc, coulper,ie ************ing tailshaft on these trans. yet , you all seem to want to add an opinion about it. did i ask for opinions?NO.i asked for experience welding the sum *************** up..... i don't want your thoughts on how i should accomplish it.i don't need advice.i'm gonna do it anyway.just wanted to have an intelligent convo with someone that HAS done it......... and gary, we posted the same time.no i do not need any extras at this point.thanks cheers, or not, brian
  17. really, i am just being lazy. if i could weld them together to achieve full lock up at the rear, i would be getting equal power to the rear, or almost equal power as the front.... then i would not have to put in a D/R. and i have wanted to try an auto for wheeling.the reduction of a torque converter mathematically works out to about 2:1, so it would be like using a low range.....cheers, brian
  18. umm, yeah, i have read all of that before.... i have had about 4 4EAT's apart. there are a set of housings involved with a clutch.they could be welded together i think.hence why i asked , "if anyone had done it" excuse me for using the wrong wording.the "viscous coupler" as it were , is what i want to conjoin....... and , since noone has just welded the damn thing together, i guess i'll do that. cheers, brian
  19. yep , cut the stub off right about the same place it broke to get your eyes on it, then cut off more of the stub, and none of the bolt.take that piece of the stub off.then grab bolt with vice grips. soaking them in pb blaster works pretty well if they are stubborn.of course we have cut as many as we have saved too......so , i guess it's a fifty-50 shot.cheers, brain
  20. did you weld your center diff?no , you didn't.
  21. on an auto?who's done it?cheers,brian
