  1. well ,i am pretty sure that each case will be different(per lift manufacture)....regardless....i (three times now) have done just what i stated above... i have also gathered several steering shafts at the yard, and conglomerated them together....for the 6 inch lift i had on lilly. cheers, brian
  2. somewhere in there is a compliment.i just know it........:grin:back to the subject at hand... i guess stating that one who knows HOW to weld, would have the ability to do it with a 110 welder.hopefully the original poster got what he needed before we stated bantering back and forth..... cheers, brian
  3. wow, those(?) are bright.....is that an aircraft landing lamp?cheers, brain
  4. everything you see in my build thread is done with a 110 v welder with .035 flux core.......... no root passes........so whatever....cheers, brain
  5. if someone had a rollbar they were willing to donate to the cause for a while, i could reproduce them.i am pretty sure the original ones i have seen are 1.5" tube..that is the die set i have. hrew tubing is relatively cheap.would cost about $75-100 a stick(20')....i would be willing to entertain this if enough folks got interested.i already have the tools to accomplish it ,,,,so.....if people wanted a different size i could pick up another set of dies. this could also be done for the front end guards..........bull bars , etc..... cheers, brian
  6. if you use the proper equipment, and materials, there is no need to plug weld anything.if your arms, and hydraulic assist can tear the linkage after it being done properly, you have way bigger issues to address .....
  7. and concrete prices are different everywhere.most likely more expensive where you are. there are different admixtures that are used in different parts of the country for the mix..... it is very important that understand that.you can not compare concrete from one side of the country to the other. i wish i was closer,i'd do it for you........cheers,brian
  8. literally cut it in half.insert it into the size of tubing appropriate(however big your lift is)in your case ,4"......then weld up.if the cuts are square on your tubing, it should come out fairly square all around, it is ok if the tubing is a little bigger than the shaft, as it will rest up against the base of the joints........my first one i used a tie rod tensioner from a 1950's ford...... cheers, brian
  9. so, it is a place that ALLOWS offroad activity?cheers, brian
  10. i ran stock toyota steelies on the brat, and lilly........and they were just perfect.... i been thinkin about his one myself.....a flatbed, and the buggy on back......cheers, brian whats your overall width right now?mine is 63"outside of tire to outside of tire.
  11. k, got some creative outlet today... nothin fancy, but i did peen the edges over .it was fun to use the hammer.i like hammers.cheers, brian
  12. what you see is what you get.33" basically......they are 255/85/16. and i plan on using square tubing cut down to fit as trusses, it would be cool if i could hotwrench my screenname into it though! i looked and looked for those, and could not find them, so i am gonna use some .120 wall 2x2.....i already have it so.... cheers, brian
  13. no, he was talkin to dude noah.......
  14. it's a tubing bender.............pipe is what ************ flows through.cheers, brian
  15. remember, there just little jap cars...don't overthink it:)cheers, brian
  16. i want to see the motor out of the car, can you do that for me?:grin:cheers, brian
  17. finshsed up some mounts tonight, only a couple more beads on the frame, and i will be gusseting the links.....cheers, brian
  18. MOAR pPICTARS....12's and 14's, the 12"s are not pressurized front link frame link area,.people call it all sorts of things...been around for a century or so......mines more of an "A" link ballistic 3" joint and as requested, a size comp. pic of the joint a cool radiator that i traded out of mugs....its a 4 core brass job, i still have to have it pressure tested, but it seems stout and the fuel cell, man it's purty cheers, brian
  19. well, before scott decides to let to much out of the bag, i figured i would say something.... i have been collecting parts for like 3 yrs to start what i am starting....again.. thats right folks, we are just getting over my fab season(winter when i am laid off)...and i have recently changed directions in my life as well.....it will be a little slow after this weekend.but i will be steadily working on it..... so, without further adu......... ej'd hatchback 5 spd D/R zooki case 6.5/1 gears... zooki axles 12"fox air shocks for the front 14" fox air shocks rear fuel cell(can't remember what gallonage, can you Tex?)pretty sure in the 10 gallon range 33" bfg mud terrains on sexy aluminum wheels, thinking about some ghetto internal beadlocks full tube chassis, with body mixed in here and there........ what i have so far...... strippee strippee... cuttee cuttee bendee bendee take frame off for clean up, and the addition of a new engine , trans, and t-case crossmembers.... trans mounts-made these out of scrap tubing, and some extra energy suspension bushings i had and here is the last until tomorrow eve..... this is not exactly how she sits, but, it is preliminary.....so i can share it the link will be mounted on top permanently, i have to buy some u bolt flip kits(thanks B, i knew i needed them, but was unsure about sizing) it is currently sitting downstairs waiting for me to unbolt the link and finsih gusseting, and blocking off the frame. the body's channels for the door sills will used for routing of wiring to the rear on one side, and used for fuel llines on the other side....... also the onlyu pieces from the original interior will be top part of a dash, and a cluster.... and just as a size reference, the small one is a hatch strut for an ea81 hatchback, much the same size alll around really.... the bigger one? , is a 12"fox air shock.. this whole version has been in the planning stages for over 2.5 yrs...other plans have preceded it , but then decided i would start building what i ACTUALLY wanted...i have been collecting parts for ever it seems like. i also had to buy all of the tools to get the job done, so.....anyways, it has been fun. i am hoping to be able to make the deadline....of the build off.and the show for that matter.... but like i said, other , way more important things will come first for the next couple of months....so, i will do my best .... cheers, brian
  20. i misunderstood when we talked last night B.....i was inebriated....ummm, i always used a cheapo fram filter with weirdo outlets shaped like an L underneath.....i just took mine off and went to the store.found one in the stocked items that looked kinda like it, and hooked it up.....a fuel filter is a fuel filter.....and then i would take the vapor separator and replace it with a good 'ol chevy 350 inline fuel filter, but the one GD posted up is nicer...cheers,B
  21. moar pictars! how was the gearing?and for ************s sake , what tire pressure were you running?.............cheers, brain:)
  22. there is a weber consortium in the offroad section up top, and also some links in there to get you going.....read newb:)...cheers, brian
  23. ruN WHAT YA BRUNG.......
  24. i don't need fancy tools to make me feel speschal.........the inability to adapt and overcome is a lost art......:lol:cheers, brian
