  1. i had been thinking of an offroad meet , but.........an "old school " meet would be cool.......cheers
  2. at least people are building stuff. i do not see alot of gained travel. maybe a couple of inches.kinda like the front strut i built. i do see a shock extension going away, but only a little bit of travel....... i have been pondering this for quite some time ,and i just see a shock spring combo for us working for the front anyway......... then all we need to worry about is axle extension basically....... curious to see how they fit...what the rest measurement is. be sure to take the pre installation measurements too.....compressed, extended, and at ride height.cheers, brian
  3. they are comparable, the kyb's lasted a little longer.but the spring perches are a debatable thing in my opinion.you can get the same basic spring rate with a non-compressed(by moving the perch)RX spring. it just gives a stiffer ride. i never really saw an advantage to having the spring perches adjusted all the way up, it always felt like i lost a little bit of uptravel, although i am sure it was a miniscule loss. just my .02 cents cheers, brian
  4. i have had monroe, kyb, gabriel, rancho, and pro comp shocks on a 4" lifted rig. by far the best performance i got was from the rancho's. the 5241(search for rancho) i believe is the model number that folks use for this application.it also eliminates the need for a shock mount extension. the kyb struts are what i had coupled with this setup, worked well. the gabriels i had were for like a late 70's model chevelle or something and were WAY to soft.after they broke in they rubbed my 26's on bumps.......lame..... just my .02 cents, there is also the sticky at the top of the forum that has some info in it,ya' know ,in case ya forgot.:)cheers, rbain
  5. yes round o-rings will fit.if you can find some viton ones they will last longer.as a matter of fact i think you can buy an entire o-ring kit from harbor freight in viton for like 20 bucks-ish. oh yeah, F***ed Up Beyond All Repair=fubar'd cheers, brain
  6. yeah , it's good to get stuff done.i have gone leaps and bounds in comparison to the last attempt of a project. it should be fun.i have some really cool parts comin this week. it will not be solid for a while EZ, as i really want to drive the damn thing before the end of the year. there are plenty of little surprises still left though.......should turn out well. but i think i am on to something ,so i will continue this one until it is basically done.as i have a feeling it will continue to morph........ here ya go jared.the build album.......... cheers, brian
  7. well, i got some more done.took the front suspension off ofr like the 50th time in the last couple of months and did some trimming. 'z"ing the frame has by far been the most difficult part of this.as i do not have a flat place to do the work, i have been doing it on the car. i cut out the flaps that are dust shields on the "framerail" in the engine compartment then rolled the rest up and out of the way to give me a flat "framerail" to work with......then i set up the "z" middle pieces to get set up for the extension out to the front of the vehicle. after cut rolled and out of the way front Z pieces added am about an 1/8th off front to back, but i think i can make it up in the front .everything is squared out so i think it is in the car body though.whatever,it will be hell for stout no matter what. in a bit i will be taking the frame back out ,adding some fishplates that i have cut out for the top and bottom of the Z piece,as it is not flush on the ends(you can see in the pics) add some gussets etc.....i am out to do that.cheers, brian
  8. right on, thanks Tim!she is cute, but everything has a time to move on.aren't you like Mick anyway?like 17 cars or something?:lol:cheers, brian
  9. get ahold of bratsrus1(jerry). he has the specs on that.cheers, brain
  10. well, where is the pics of the new owner and that DRTY DRTYGRL?:lol:soob porn.......i remember RUZILLA,just canna place the DRTYGRL.....?cheers, brian
  11. the one in my 83 n/a wagon daily driver is that way.but i do have a leak,so maybe someone put a different cap on. the other pump i have i am not sure where it came from, but same pump style,(long bracket up front with tensioner) and cap states atf dexron same as the one in the wagon. but it seems unlikely that i would have two that are the same style with the same cap and the caps got switched on both of them. as the caps seem to have a proper fitment, they seal and such. i tried taking pics but i cannot get it to focus that close to read the writing.i am inept when it comes to cameralinga........ and i always thought the ea81t had an ea82 style pump mounted in the middle. cheers, brian
  12. i think it is your turbo encabulator...........:lol:at least each step is bringing you closer!..cheers, brian
  13. i read them as i post. i love myself(sometimes to much:lol:),and i still think you have more potential. you can enclose a buggy. well, sorry i was not stroking your ego like everyone else.i was just being honest. you know what i hate about forums?that people can't take a nudge here and a nudge there.they are to serious....... i thrive on brutal honesty,it is the only thing that makes me feel better inside. i wasna tryin to bash your ************ dude.it just seems to me like a step back in your progression grasshoppa....... your right, it is a"build thread" and i'll be following it so i can steal your ideas. oh, and everyone i know here thinks i am an *********************,so don't worry, we are covered :rolleyes:cheers, brian
  14. thats weird,i have a sticker on my PS lid that says to use ATF as well.and it is on an ea81.odd,my other one says that too.cheers, brian

search man,search...there are plenty of topics on this. as a matter of fact , there is a sticky at the top of the off road forum that answers a whole bunch of questions.cheers, brian, and good luck
  16. try the anti diesel solenoid.....it is directly hooked through the idle circuit.if the wire is loose at all it could be making the carb ACT funny.at idle,at full throttle,etc...cheers, brian
  17. just for ************s and giggles, check the anti-diesel solenoid on the front of the carb.a loose wire could totally screw you.cheers, brain
  18. if you are not going to be an enthusiast, go get something else.all we need is another "oh this is so cool " car freak that wants to not take care of our beloved rarities. but if you are not then i would say get over the fact it needs axles and if it is rust free,BUY THE DAMN THING as long as you are willing to take on the responsibility of the standards.this IS the subaru bug,if not see ya.:grin:cheers, brain
  19. i hate it,you could have gone so much farther with the tube....why didn't you build another one ?there were ideas to build upon, measurements already taken....... waste of time to build something you KNOW you can build.unless it is just cherry, which the sedan is not. just my opinion.your wasting potential. cheers or not, brian
  20. oh , i just ordered some really cool parts too.........wait till you see.:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:damn, am i excited ...cheers, brain
  21. ok, got the mounting tabs mounted on the subframe and it is in place, one of the holes needs enlarged just a bit for clearance for the bolt.....i would say that being a 16th off is not to bad though. shall widen the hole and get it mounted all the way up tomorrow, get the z parts mocked up ,fish plates cut out, along with some gussets mocked and we shall do some more welding this weekend. i have to say that adding a 20 amp fuse in the basement has helped a bunch.i still can only weld when she is not working ,but that welder is surpassing my needs for right now.i am stoked about that. once the frame is bolted static i will start working on the radius links.two of the weld in rod end bungs are wrong size for the tube i have so i have to get 2 more in town.once again brown bearing will save the day on that one...... no pics, will get some up tomorrrow. cheers,, brain
  22. i like it.glad you got'er runnin.......cheers, brian:)
  23. actually, CF,there is merrit to that link.baccaruda and i did some searching and chatting about it,and for a mostly offroad rig we think it is viable. and it cuts the cost down of just buying the flange and tube yokes,no slip shaft, which by the way was the most expensive......to about 100 bucks give or take 10...... should be interesting to see how miniscule the tubing prices are.i imagine you want to use .250 wall 2 inch tubing for the bigger piece, then use 1.75 tubing for the secondary piece. you could cap the inside piece of tubing and add 1 zirk fitting at the top of the axle, where you know that it will not get destroyed. we may be on to something here people.focus damnit!cheers, brain
  24. what if a guy put a ball joint in the strut mount area?cheers, brian
