  1. I Used universal boots there steped so you cut off the extra after install if there too big just dont cut too much off you can even strech the small end over the joint with out hurting them so you dont need to dissasemble the axles all the way just remove the old boots and streach the boot out till it fits they make a tool for that if you can find one
  2. Use silicone boots they dont were through ever there not cheap though i got mine on ebay
  3. I Dont use the pipe much anymore (bongnow mostly) but photobucket on the other hand is smokin somethin realy good
  4. The differance between a 4" lift and a 6" lift is about 1-2 miles per gallon and 2 inches of lift
  5. I still love my ea82 i dont have the time to work on it right now or i would still be daily driving it i riped the suspention mounts off and only redid one side lol i also have a ej2.2 and a ej2.5d and a ej2.55 im in the middle of crank up rebuilds on both a ea82 and a ej2.2 there both great engines i hate the 2.5d i cant wait to tourture the outback to death lol but it runs great only 7 engines in the biesatch but hay the ea82 is old and needs more work but its like a old dog just keeps on truckin when all my ej powered rigs broke down the old loyale pulled 150 mile a day duty with fling colors i do things to that car and engine i would never do to any other car/engine simply because there so simple and seeing as how there dead theres nothing to lose and i have a big parts stash so that helps
  6. Pic fail Pug/roo rack <script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
  7. Im still learning imgur so please bear with me lol Pug/roo rack https://imgur.com/gallery/Rzuj8
  8. I Just went to my favorite junk yard to check out there stock on pug for a fellow forum member and i dident find one the rack is still there that says pug subaru renault but the wheels were random there were piles of rims everywere so im guessing there just sticking what ever were ever
  9. I managed to get around 25% more power out of my ea82 and it was alot of work any part that touches air or fuel needs to be upgraded or reworked i keep the stock motor in storage (in the car right now )and i have a hot mongral (out for rebuild.) That i tinker with i spent 3 months reading every port article every performance web page i read about chevys fords subarus touotas and hondas then i came up with my own plan folowed by 3 months of shaving porting grinding fabricating and polishing it came out good i got lucky i got around 25% more out of it and i feel the computer was strugeling to keep up but like i sead it was alot of work i also have 4 motors so i had nothing to loose and a but load of free time on my hands and a full metal shop to play in so i had copper for gaskets chunks of aluminum for spacers welders and cutters even with all this work it still wont hold a.candle to the ej22 although it comes close and i dident have to modifie the car and i can drop the stock motor back in anytime like for smog lol so if your willing to do the work you can get more power i feel my methods are repeatable and it dose shorten the life of the engine but puting a big turbo on it would be a awsome way to dispose of that old boat anchor lol side note my freind spent like 20k at a subaru specialty speed shop on 2 of his roos and then took them the gl10 and knowing he had the money the shop was like no way man however they liked it so much that the extra ea82t is now on display in there front office as a piece of art history its all polished up nice and pretty lol thats about all its good for
  10. If you still have this thing look in to ea82 parts i here alot fit with a little modification
  11. I have 10" subs sunk in to the back doors and turned the doors in to a box the windows are gone and the doors dont open so i had the room also used a milk crate for a grill i left it about 2" wide it mak3s a great shelf for when your car.camping i have a combo of high powered and low powered led lights low power for when parked and daylight for when im moving a lift and a duel range trans are a must these are about the cheapest expo rig out there so enjoy
  12. Straight water will transfer heat more efficantly than antifreeze but water has a lower boiling point than antifreeze there are a.few advantages over straight water though antifreeze has a lubricant in it that keeps waterpumps happier and prvents alot of cerosion internaly and raises the boiling and freezing points they do have stuff that cools better than water that claim 25-30% cooler engine temps but ive never tryed it
  13. Weld that diff up solid and use it offroad only use a different diff on the street
  14. I Gave up on spring pins on the rear long ago and recently stoped using them on the front aswell i moved to a 16 penny nail bent over no issues on my rig so far no vibration or anything it makes changing them so much easyer I See no reason you cant run with out a pin run over some big bumps at speed in 4wd the shock load should break it free
  15. The foresters do good in the sand just watch the trans temps mine would puke atf if i ran it to hard in the sand it never got stuck though and i wasent on any kind of road just deep open desert sand on stock street tires air down and they do even better
  16. Just get a spfi system it will solve alot of your issues you can simplify the wirng down to just what you need to run the rig its a bolt on setup or learn carb and learn it good any change to the engine or manifold or exhaust will create carb issues so basicly chang anything and your gona need to rejet the carb in order to know what jets to use your gona have to learn to read spark plugs rejeting the carb usaly means rebuilding the carb so get good at it learn all the air passages learn the idle system learn the main jeting system accelerator pump system the choke system the realy nice thing about fuel injection is it addapts to whats going on the computer makes changes on the fly so if you change you exhaust / intake or what ever the computer will make the nessisary adjustments a carb cant do that and you will get better milage and power because your running more eficiant the subaru spfi system is extremely simple and i bet some one on the forum would be able to turn down a wiring harness for you so your set up would be plug and play might take some convincing though enjoy and good luck
  17. You can hop up the ea82 but its alot of.work alot and its not cost effective to pay someone to do the work for the gains you will get Almost easyer to install the ej22 and has more power stock than you will ever be able to get out of a ea82
  18. Ea82t would be just as much work as ether of the other options the only reason to run a ea82t is to keep your rig is in clasic condition nonreason to put them in anything other than what they came in
  19. Ive had simmiler issues a new radiator fixed the issue for me once i soaked the radiator in a 50 gallon barrel of water to get mud out of the fins that worked too so it sounds like you need to clean or replace your radiator if i had a guess
  20. They put those tdi diesels in to there busses to it will definitly fit sideways there about the same phisicle size as the boxer the 2.5d has around 165 lb of tourque and there infront of alot of ea transmissions i dought a tdi is gona pop the trans with the power curve of that diesel it should be just fine the biggest problem would be engine speed subie engines turn 6-7k verses the tdi what 3k so driveabuility might be a issue maybe with a 3.7 finnal drive it might work but i dought it would reach freeway speeds but it might there are gearing calculators outhere that would.give you a better idea of whats going on but why go through all the trouble when a ej swap is so much easyer and everything plays nice seeing as how its just a exstremely upgraded version of the original motor and lots of threads about it and alot of suport here onnthis site
  21. But the murph is running so good right now i dont want to touch it but its not my car so my opinion only matters so much murphs extra motor is still in the speed shop i think its on the shelf in the lobby the customers seem to like it after all it is a piece of subaru history
