  1. would it be posable to run the loyale ecu and spfi set up on a ej18 i know the sensors and plugs will be wrong or missing but would it run i might be geting a ej18 for a trade on some work i dont think it would be as good as stock but if it will work i have extra ea82 stuff ecu wiring harness whole care less the body if its possable to do it would make a great combo for the bug or if it would pass smog would it be worth doing the swap on a loyale and for that matter would the spfi work on a ej2.2 the 2.2s get better gas mileage than the ea82 dose would the throtle body give enuff fuel to run a 2.2 im sure its just easyer to use the right ecu and harness than to get and mod all the parts to run spfi on a ej engine just curiose if anyone has tryed something like this or has tryed to run the spfi setup on any other motors kinda like a standalone setup
  2. it could be stuck in 4wd it happens also looks like it just needs a hair more clearance just bend the shifter alittle i dont see any reason to cut and weld it cant be that far off
  3. have you tryed hot wireing it to eliminate a igintion problem + wire from battery to + side of coil if nothing else it will narow down the problem down to coil.dissy and condenser if it starts its electrical and could be bypassed easy and cheap till the problem can be found and repaired
  4. i got the my cans from napa redid the bumper and fixed a big dent on the fender on my impreza obs looks good and was easy you might be able to order a can if they dont mix it there

    money

if some one droped 20k in my lap for a wheeler i would get a tow rig trailer and a side by side witch is about what i would compare wheelin a subaru to but with no dooh i hope to use my scout expo camper to flat tow my loyale that is if i ever get the scout back up and running with its new 6.5 turbo diesel i swaped in after blowing the 392 sky high sure i could wheel the scout its fun almost unstopable but wheres the fun in that the suby is a chalange to wheel cheeper to repair and its different and it has heat and ac and windows but the side by side is a small buggie and is tough and light and it would fit on the trailer with the dirtbikes and quads
  6. i would love to see it tubed up with some exo skelitol cage of some sort
  7. i had the outback out at cow mountain for some light offroading mostly just cruzed the creek bed barried it in some sand did some mild hill climbs camped out was fun saving the heavier stuff for my daily beater
  8. the stock scissor jacks dont do to well in the sand ive had them fail and leave me stranded but can do the job bottle jacks are more reliable but harder to use the bumper jacks always worked best for me now days im using a high lift desert jack the best however is 2 big guys you can call them jack if you want they can even push if they have to lol
  9. all you need for sand is a realy good jack get stuck jack up the car put sand back under the tires lower jack drive away no biggie if your prepared for it
  10. bummer i did the same thing to my impreza its no fun geting it out i had to pull the entire lock assembly out of the door the tumblers in side the lock past the brake had to be depressed in order to get the broken part out i had to push it out from the back side with a fine screw driver while holding the tumblers open its not realy that hard but the space is tight in the door
  11. Vacuum leak maybe mine acted like that when my intake manifold gasket went out

    frunt sway bar

yup lift under hard acceleration in 2wd with out the sway bar very little lift with the sway bar on and when i hit a 35 mph turn at 85 peddle to the floor i dont let up with out the sway bar the front inside tire will come off the ground and spin and i loose speed but with the sway bar its all good i can hold my speed as long as i can hold on the car handles great not as good as the impreza sport but great none the less the alinment is ok top of front tires sit just a hair in at the top parked these are new to me tires so im noticing the wear more the old tires wore evenly with the sway bar on and im sure the motor mounts are shot and will be replacing them next im sure the car isent %100 on but its fun i only drive about 100 miles a week mostly from the beach to the shop alot of uphill takeoffs entering hwy 1 traffic and a high speed wide open run home through the mountains once or twice a week over all though not a huge difference but noticeable for sure

    frunt sway bar

if its a daily driver duel purpose rig i would leave it on i disconnected mine for my last wheelin trip and dident put it back on for a month or so what a difference on the street i got alot of front end lift when taking off and the inside wheel would come off the ground in the turns slowing me down also noticed the out side of the tires starting to scrub off im only running 2" lift and 28" tires if i only drove the car once and a while or if its just a wheeler i would toss it in to a corner and forget about it
  14. There all spfi motors the 89 motor and Dr trans droped right in the 91 with very little parts swaping just wondering if there is any internal differences between the years the 89 seems like it has alittle less power but that could be a lot of things
  15. I have 3 ea82 motor one good runner no problems its a 89 gl motor also a good runner with a small mysterious external coolant leak its out of my dd 91 loyale and my 93 loyale parts car has milky oil I'm hoping to run all three motors my question is is there any difference in the Model year motor ie any power or efficacy differences and what parts if any I think I'm looking at 2 sets of head gaskets anyway the 89 and 91 have the same amout of miles around 150ish and 93 has 225ish on its clock so if there's any better parts on the 93 it might be worth swaping to another motor or doing a full rebuild on the 93
  16. RE: PO 170 Code, in our 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback. We had the PO 170 code show up 5 times in a row! First, we replaced the O2 sensor. Code came back. Faulty sensor, replaced it. Code came back on. Cleaned MAS (Mass Air Sensor) and replaced air filter, it was filthy. Code came back again! Finally went to Subaru Recycled Parts yard, got a used Mass Air Sensor for $45, just drove the car home over 100 miles and no code!! Yay! Also, we got some other codes in between all this, which were due to hoses that had come off, so do check all hoses as well for vacuum leaks.
  17. i might be off here but dident you just swap the trans out im guessing ground becaus there are a few ground wires around there a under sized ground dosent cut out just dosent carry load i had the same problem on my nissan was grounding though the shift cable the motor turns till the under sized ground gets hot then just clicked never lost power completly i figured it out because i melted the shift cable trying to jump start it i went through 3 starters befor i figured it out and if the body has ground and the motor dosent it wont kill the power to the car just the starter bad grounds are i my opinion the hardest to track down try jumper cables from the starter to the battery and the body at the same time and wigle the cables just because the clamps are on dosent mean there is juice flowing see if it helps its a cheap easy test
  18. i ran a screw from the speaker in to a wire on my door and shorted the window controls on the drivers door and the controls on the other doors still worked fine now it works right after i fixed the wire
  19. check to make sure the motor and trans are grounded to the body and the battery and pull start it with another car all you need is another car and a long tow strap
  20. i have the whole front section of a ea82 wagon the strut towers forward is in great shape starts geting rusty by the dash area but might have some use to you if you deside to fix her its off to be recycled later this week so if you want it let me know in only 20 min from sf
  21. have you tryed the flooding tricks like pinching the fuel line off then crank it or holding the throtle wide open when cranking these usaly work in most flooding cases if its a manual try push or pull starting it ive always had good luck with those few tricks
  22. the best way and right way is to use a relay like they sead but the wrong way is to use a heavy duty switch on the ground side the idea behind it is that the load burns up the juice before it hits the switch i wired my off road light on my scout like that the little 5 amp switch that came with the lights heald up just fine but the best and right way is to use a relay like they say
  23. im just south of sf and ill come get it if the price is right im really only interested in the dual range trans and could come pull it but would take the whole car to have tow bar will travel
  24. thats all the pics i got
  25. good times the rigs all stock but mine the 2012 f150 is the only rig that broke it lost its alternator when he got stuck in a deep mud hole seems strange ford would put the alternator on the lower part of the motor on a 4x4 truck they should have atleast used a sealed model but then again it had no business being in that hole some nice guy in a yota winched him out made for some good times b.s.ing and puffin my rear cv started clunking again but it dident brake the skid plate set up works great i was able to slide up and over stuff even with the front wheels where off the ground the rear would push and the front slid on the skid plate i ran some of the same trails i ran with the scout the subaru struggled where the scout just rolled through like nothing but i think thats the point of wheelin a subaru the challange is what make it fun not to mention a fraction of the cost of wheelin a big heavy v8 powered rig
