  1. I am woundering if anyone is up for.a.holister hills run ill be there this weekend Sunday and Monday are wheeling days ill have my little subi out playing and this time I'm within AAA distance if need be ill try to.get.pics and video
  2. the bumper was never intended to hold up to that kind of use if it had been bolted up allthe way whos to say what would have happend if i used one piece tubes i wouldent be able to get everything up as high as i did it will be stronger this time around but not as strong as if it where a 1 piece bee but how much can the car handle anywway as stupid as what i did was i did find the week link and am fixing it but next time ill be nicer to the car and use multiple atatchment points and spread the load and not jerk it so hard and most importantly think it through it was so easy to pull it down hill but it wasent nearly as much fun
  3. this time before i use my bumper im gona finish weld everything and put the 4 bolts in the center section[extra body bracing ] and add diamond plate to it to match the front the bumper mounts up in 5 different places and uses 15 bolts to atatch it if you notice i was still pulling hard even after it broke and besides braking things is half the fun fixing them when you get home and remebering how fun it was braking it is the other half of the fun
  4. yes it dose have duel range i instaled it 2 days before i left for the trip that sand hill i climed was very steep cant tell from the video though i did better than the jeeps in fact only 1 dirt bike made it up that hill all week that i saw here is the vid of the jeep trying the same hill i winched up i made it farther than he did and i was on bald street tires and not aired down at all and the vid of my bumper breaking stupily trying to pull the jeep up off of a burm un fortunatly the camera man dident get the sucsesfull pulling out of the jeep but did get my bumper breaking
  5. i still need to upload the video of braking the back bumper and a few others will post after they are uploaded
  6. sorry for the over post still geting used to
  7. a few pics and vids of my trip to johnson valley ohv park for the king of the hammers race
  8. car did great made the 1200 mile trip with out any problems put about 150 miles of desert traval between spectator points and to hammer town and back to camp did some steap hill climbs in deep sand pasing stuck jeeps stoping and starting again in the deepsand on a steep hills hit some tight atv trails some crosscountry deasert traval and played in every sand pit gully or wash i could find the car dident like the woops i couldent find a sweet spot with it i did manage to get some pics and vids but ill put thoughs ina new thread oh and ecsept for a electrical short in the lights nothing broke
  9. Made the trip down no problem wheeled abit will up load pics and vids when I get home
  10. motor and trans swap went good car is up and running interior looks original same color even same dirt i found most of the cruz control parts taking a brake for the king of the hammers race ill be back on my swaping after that is if the car makes it and i dont get distracted by rock buggies and such
  11. duel range and new motor swap went well but took a few days longer than i would have liked so i dident finnish my fiberglass fenders or paint the car but since the tow rig has a bad bearing in the rear end and wont make the trip im going to drive my loyale 465 miles stick to necessary wheelin and save the car for the ride home i also dont have the space in the car anymore so its gona limit my spares i can carry but i probly wont need them anyway i hope anyway leaving in a few hours will post pics and vids asap when i get back enjoy
  12. thats funny i just alinged my loyale with 2" lift it was toed out not sure how much but i toed it in 1/16th now im geting alot of lift and tire spin and front end will jump around on hard exceleration i was thinking toe out more and thank you for confirming it i think i need to move the front wheels forward a bit aswell i think oh and i pull the tape on the tread aswell it has never let me down i was told by the alignment teck at a garage i worked at alongtime ago that once you lift a vehicle all the alignment specs go out the window just get it to drive straight and not eat tires to bad and be happy and enjoy so even with the accsess to a alignment rack i still used the tape even tryed both i liked it better with a tape for lifted trucks or wagon in this case
  13. That's the same one my freind built they sead it was very bouncy even with motorcycles on it so the put 2 together works great I got pics last I was there http://www.flickr.com/photos/11391300@N06/8437501307/in/photostreamhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/11391300@N06/8437421695/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/11391300@N06/8437503787/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/11391300@N06/8437505799/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/11391300@N06/8437504929/in/photostream There are a few more pics on there to just poke through they made the trailer about 10 years ago and haul everything from trash to motorcycles to scrap metal as you can see in the pictures its 4x8 and even loaded tounge heavy the tongue dosent hit the ground so its very easy to move around with out a car almost like a wheel barow or a wagon I think the sides are alittle high but its a tough little trailer and rides very smooth and best of all no tongue weight on the car even when heavly loaded
  14. Hell yah that would definitely increase the fun level but I would have to drive the impeza or ouback till I coul d build a new daily no fun in that ill just try not to rip the suspension out from underneath the car we will be towing the car so as long as it rolling I'm good
  15. I'm not competing just watching I hope anyway so ok are all the hubs interchangable or do I need a front and a.rear hubs I'm hoping to install my 100amp marine alternator I got for the scout since it won't work with my new set up I've spent my share of time out in the mojave so I'm more than aware of the conditions and hell its winter I'm more worried about the cold than the heat spare tire is on the back rack with the 2 gas cans ill toss in all the front end parts I just hope my strength holds out long snuff to get the duel range and new motor in if not ill run it as is single range with a small water leak somewhere thanks
  16. a freind of mine bought 2 of the cheeper harbor fraight trailers and bolted the 2 together making a double axle trailer and towed it behind a little yota wagon its real nice because there is almost no tongue weight and it can be wheeled around like a big wheel barrow when not hooked to a car ill get a pic when im there next its a cool little trailer
  17. i hoping to make it down to the king of the hammers i want to flat tow my subi about 450 miles down there and have some fun since i have a hole pile of parts right now what brakes the most besides axles i want to put together a spare parts box for wheelin i have lots of room i just want to be able to tow it home thanks
  18. Yup my guess is for a crack somewhere and since my doner car has a motor in way better shape and I'm already swaping the duel range in and loosing my push button I figured just swap the motor aswell and ill figure out why I'm leaking later when I tear it down to rebuild it question on this is are the accseory brackets interchangeable from 89 to 91 I know they look different but I'm hoping the bolt holes are in the same place I would rather run the 91s accessories and brackets not that it matters but anyway thanks a lot
  19. Right on thanks I realy want the cruz control I'm gona swap the whole steering column that. Has all the controls on the steering wheel im not ej swaping probly won't ever happen with this car but my motor is slowly loosing water I'm asuming its a cracked head or something runs great but the gl motor holds water no signs of stopleak and I have all service record for it and heck I'm swwping in a duel range anyway so I'm gona use the good motor the biggest bummer is I have to drive the impreza till the swap is done oh well it.will give a chance to work on it to since its in my face
  20. So I'm in the process of tearing my 89 gl wagon apart and am gona rob a few parts for my 91 loyale but I have a few questions first off the Cruz control is it worth trying to swap I dont see any vacuum solenoids or control modules on the throtle cable so how dose it work on this car and is it controled by the computer or something else I want to swap the hole stering column aswell is there a wiring diagram of the cruz control somewhere second how different are the excessory mounts on the motor like alternator powersteering pump ac will my 91 brackets work on the 89 motor I'm sure they will but if they don't it would save me some time tryin to swap it all out I'm sure ill have more questions along the swap but some like duel range swap are already on here already and ill do my best to search them out
  21. i like smaller tubing around 1"ish my dd has 3/32 1" square tube front and rear i am in the process of making a heavy duty 2" pipe for the main piece with some 1" for the hoop and winch mounts and skids but it would be for off road only but no mater what a custom bumper always looks good ive seen wooden 4x4s that just seemed to fit the car they where on still working on the rear very early stages of the front and rear bumpers i havent taken pics of the new bumper yet i need to start hackin on the car so i can get the lines i want out of it now its just a bent piece of pipe
  22. i picked up a 93 loyale out of a back yard in oakland lady was moving and car was on to the crusher that day it was in the parts section on craigslist for 100 and the last day of the add to almost a perfict car front bumper was smashed but frame is stil good and a small dent by the light the lady never got paper work for it the day she bought it off her freind her freind got deported she never registered it it just sat in her back yard for 5 years towed it 40 miles home at about 65 with a vw bug tow bar hooked to the sway bar also worked on the outback and the impreza on short trips to just dont make any sharp turns but anyway it needs a fuel pump as far as i can tell thats it runs with gas down the intake for a little bit will make a nice car some day i would keep it but i hate the automatic seatbealts and it sits in my yard now untill i feel like molesting it or fix it and sell it ill add picks later if i can find them
  23. impreza is down again cel came on and started flashing its throughing out a p1505 and a p0304 codes idle air controler and a #4 miss my first thought was timing belt sliped but the marks are lining up on the cam pullies i havent ben able to check the crank yet but its had almost 1500 miles since the waterpump im geting spark to #4 thats as far as i could go till i get it to my shop almost makes me want to put one of the other loyales together and dump the obs and obw or not there all great cars in ther own way im sure if i put as much time in to them they would be just as good as my loyale or better as they have way more potential but got to love that loyale its saving out butts again big thanks to the universe and the powers that be
  24. heres a link to fmf racings powerbomb pipe http://www.fmfracing.com/Products/MX/44 what would %10 do for out little motors i know it would cost a fortune to make one for our cars fmf has been making pipes for along time and can spend the money and time on r&d doing that for a little old subaru would fall under the catagory of wtf dude why it sure would be nice though
