flywheels same for ea81 & ea81T
shanonsf replied to shanonsf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
here's the deal I have a ea81T on stand that came outta a project with a RX 5spd D/R & ctr dif & LSD. (yes, I have the tranny/lsd on ice) Turbo motor won't be going in any time soon, nor 5spd. Turbo has a flywheel easily accessible (exposed) and was thinking of having it turned and lightend for the 4spd and later for 5spd when ready will this work? thx shanon -
HeY Q- what this upgrade about....? pls explain ASAP before I order anything/ thx shanonsf

can a 6ft4in guy fit in a sube?
shanonsf replied to rallyruss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i think we have a new contest catagory for wcss6! "how many 6'+ fellas can stuff into a GL!! " think of the foto op!! BTW: I'm 6'2" in a 82 GL w/ gl10 seats, fit fine, but I find brats a bit tight......can't lean back as far -shanonsf -
yeah, my ea81 82 GLW has gotten a lot worse since I pulled the stock air clearner and some hoses/lines. Sure is alot prettier and great access & chrome!! looks like a V8, ha ha approx 275mi p/tank to 175 mi per/tank....bummer not sure if the plugged Vac lines are the cause, but stills runs solid. Mileage suffer'd greatly after my cool new air cleaner set-up & emissions excavation...and tired clutch? has: 8" air cleaner, Accel coil, 1.75 exhuast to turbo muffler, new CAT & emissions crap, forked plugs (Bosch?), 7.5mm wires, blah blah. and a lead foot in the hilly, congested, big city............ -shanonsf

oh yeah, its a 4spd D/R............. :-p shanonsf

hey folks, the clutch on my 82 GLW is on the way out (starting to slip) and I think I have adjusted properly (any advice appreciated). So i am seeking/sourcing clutches and am curious if the clutches are the same for the EA81 carb'd and Turbo motors....?? gotta ea81T on the stand that probably won't be ready before clutch goes.......... looking only to buy one clutch and put turbo motor later this spring......... thx always, shanonsf 82 GLW manipulated

thx all, learning here, I have the full time RX 5spd D/R w/ ctr dif & LSD. I believe the splines ARE different in which I will have to go the with custom axle set up & EA82 steering knuckles & brakes....... didn't know that there are different configurations of 5spds thx again shanonsf

hey all anyone have an idea of the Hp from a weberized EA81 and EA81 turbo........ rebuilt a Weber 32/36, got a EA81 Turbo on stand (needs work) ..............hhhhmmm thx shanonsf
-
thx Q, EA82 clutch & flywheel, check. I didn't see anything regarding CV/axles & splines....are the stock ea81 CVs compatable..? I thought the 5spd had a different spline count. i got a custom set of CVs that the original 'pioneer' used on his set-up (from donor car). he also put in ea82 frt brakes. is that why he had the custom axls done. Do I have to convert the frt brakes to ea82 also to complete conversion or was that just another 'upgrade'? gracias, shanonsf

thx miles, but didn't completely understand your reply. use an EA81 clutch and flywheel or a basic EA82 clutch & flywheel? and bit of grind on the bell housing..... take a peek under half the boards rides (gallery?) what axle/spline set ups did you guys use?? stock EA81? thx shanonsf

hey all, building up nerve to do a 5spd conversion and have some Q's BTW: 82 GLW w/ EA81 w/ all the bits 1) Clutch assembly, is there a preferred clutch/flywheel set up?
