baccaruda, this wrx1ab's old project (parts doner), the three bolts are out. it looks to have spot weld marks and a rusted/fused spot thru the plate, in other words these suckers aint coming off (at least intact) so i am still in need of backing plates................keeping the conversion simple as possible thx shanonsf 82 GLW

hey all, I think I need rear disc backing plates to complete my conversion. The ones I have are welded to the arms (RX/XT6?). Not sure if I want to go that deep right now though the sway bar would be nice. If anyone has an extra set to spare I'll buy em ASAP, would like to do conversion buy end on Sept for Rally X!! thx a bunch!! shanonsf 82 GLW

were you doin' laps in 2wd or 4wd? I assume 2wd because of pavement............. anyone ever tried an E-brake turn? I realize that they're up front but curious as to what will happen if ya give it a pull in a tight corner... :brolleye: Shanonsf 82 GLW (gettin' ready for Rally X) -
Rally X last sunday was a blast
shanonsf replied to bajavwnsoobnut's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey there, That looked like a blast! I'm trying to get my rig (82GLW) ready for a Rally X (Nor Cal) at the end of Sept. Do ya have any pointers for set up, what to bring (plan on consuming) etc. Also what type of scrutineering is done before start. I have both a set of 13" jackmans w/ nice treads and a set of 14" alloy Pugs w/ ok tires and was thinking of experimenting....... is that legal? rally on shanonsf 82 GLW -
hey there- (82 GLW) anybody have a preference for brake pads, Idoit's guide says get 'em from the dealer, dealer wants $80 bucks! kragen sells 'em for $30.........also how necessary is the piston wrench?? any input ASAP greatly appreciated!! thx a bunch!! shanonsf 82 GLW (trying to go rallycross'n!)

heloo- I just did this for my 82 EA81........the first new Bosch (part #11027) was a dud and had NO warranty from Kragen....and they no longer stock the unit...$35 wasted..... :moon I got the same unit ($45) from my Sube mech and worked fine...I guess these things are a crap shoot, consider your source... emissions suck shanonsf 82 GLW

Hey there- I recently got one from Kragen for about $60-70 for my EA81T project/storage. It's good to 1500lbs and has 4 fingers. However, I could only use three fingers because of the configuration and seems to be doing fine: solid & rotates well and has engine hasn't dumped on the floor and rolls around nicely...... just my 2 cents, LOL shanonsf

spiralmax super charger?!?!
shanonsf replied to shanonsf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Mr. Spiral guy called me back regarding my application and said it'll make 10-15hp and add about 100 miles to the tank..... I'll defintely let you all know how it goes if/when it goes on this fall. Hell, even it doesn't improve power, the Mpg alone would be worth it as gas around these parts goes to 2.25+ p/gal rally on shanonsf 82GLW -

EA81&EA82 Intake Manifold Q.
shanonsf replied to JonOfScio's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hey there, pardon my ignorance, what would be the benefit of putting an EA81T intake on a n/a ea81? are there any other parts that would be worth considering bolting onto the n/a EA81 from the EA81T? I have a EA81T on the stand that is probaly not going into the car ........ building a rally crosser shanonsf 82 GLW rally wagon -
