  1. Doing head gaskets on ej25. Had heads machined, but can't seem to get all the black coloration off the block mating surface.even with green scotch bite and break clean, How clean does the block mating surface have to be?
  2. So I can adjust all the intake and exhaust valves on the head from that position.
  3. How do you determine the point in the rotation of the cam shaft where all valves are closed?
  4. Now I'm confused. When the valves are fully open, their on the high side of the cam and there is no adjustment. When the valves are fully closed their on the flat side of cam creating a valve lash.
  5. Have 09 ej25 with heads off engine block. What cam sprocket arrow position is used to adjust the valves on each cylinder? If I can turn the cam sprockets by hand with no resistance, does that mean all the valves in the head are closed and ready to be adjusted?
  6. Jdm engines are set up differently than usdm engines. The pcv doesn't screw into the block. Its in the intake manifold. I'm using my usdm intake and heads on the jdm block.
  7. The problem is I don't have the old blocks pcv setup to use as reference. That's why i need a diagram of the usdm pcv setup, to come up with a work around. The 2010 jdm engines don't come with pcv setup. They come with a nub coming out of the top of block. I always use the original intake.
  8. Yes Its the same PCV port as usdm ej25, but the hose that comes out of the port has no PCV valve connected to it.
  9. Im installing a jdm ej25 in a 2010 Forester. It doesn't have a pcv system. I'm looking for a diagram of the pcv system in a 2010 usdm ej25.
  10. I'm either going with the jdm short block I've done several times, or using the crank, rods and block from this engine.
  11. When I turn out the block bolts the whole engine turns on the workbench. Don't see how I can split the case without someone holding the engine down.
  12. Have my ej25 engine on the work bench. Don 't have anyone to hold the engine while I remove the block bolts. Is it safe to use an impact on the 12 point 12 mm block bolts, or would that be asking for trouble(stripped bolt head)
  13. Whats the proper method of cleaning and inspecting a VVT solenoid before installation in head?
  14. Thanks for the info. Thought switching to bigger tires might be bad for the drivetrain.
  15. Have good 2001 ej25 block and a set of good 2009 ej25 heads. Can these be used together or do I need to find a newer block?
  16. 2001 Subaru Legacy. Hear a clicking noise when going from park to reverse. Someone suggested it might be the parking prawl. How do I confirm what the noise is. If it is the parking prawl how do I repair it.
  17. Thanks Gary. I've crimped on a new male connector cleaned the block and sensor and I'm still getting the p328 code after a mile of driving.
  18. 2001 Subaru Legacy. Swapped in a jdm 2.0. Get p328 code. When code is erased comes back on while driving. I'm thinking the engine parameters might be different from the original ej25. I'm looking for direction in getting the cel to stay off.
  19. Have 01 Legacy. Make clicking noise when shifting from park to reverse. Trying to understand what the noise is.
  20. The the knock sensor wire got pulled off the female knock sensor plug that's coming from the intake manifold wiring. Stuck the wire back in the plug and now have cel light on dash. Looking for a way to turn off the cel light.
  21. Have 01 Legacy that I bought with blown engine. Just installed a Jdm ej20 and one cv axle. Pulled the front wheels. Brakes and rotors look good. Any ideas what would cause the steering wheel to shake when coming to a stop?
