  1. Yes I'm defiantly confused. Here's a pic looking down the shaft into the trans. Can the tube be seen from this pic
  2. Hi Lucky. Thank you for posting that info on the wire retainer. I'm sure # 8 must be the wire retainer. My pump drive doesn't have a groove on the end of pump drive shaft for #8 to fit into. Thinking this shaft doesn't use a retainer to keep the shaft and torque converter together.
  3. Haven't found a wire retainer under the car, What does the retainer look like. Is it safe to put the torque converter back on without the wire retainer?
  4. Hi Tom Just the TC came out engine. There is a foot long shaft that comes out and goes in with no problems and is undamaged.
  5. I think I found the problem. There is a Cclip that normally stops the TC from coming out when removing the engine, is not letting the TC go back in that last 1/2 inch. Its a 2004 Impreza and the Cclip sits about an inch behind the front trans seal. It looks like the Cclip needs to be permanently removed to get the TC back to its proper position. Need to know if that method is the procedure I should use.
  6. I've been lifting by the nub on the front of the TC and turning. I've got the TC to one inch of flush, but not to the one quarter inch it supposed to be at.
  7. The trans never came out, just the engine and TC. The engine was seized so couldn't undo the flex plate to TC bolts. It actually broke a rod. There were pieces of the rod stopping the crank shaft from turning. The problem I'm having is getting the TC back in the trans to its 1/4 inch out position. It looks like the Cclip that stops the TC from coming out, now wont let the TC go back in that extra 1/2 inch.
  8. Had to pull torque converter with engine. Got it back in the transmission and its sticking out one inch. How do I get it in that last 3/4 of inch?
  9. Have 99 ej22 phase 2 engine block and heads from a 2004 ej25. Are the ej25 heads a good fit for the ej 22 phase 2?. If they are a good fit, what head gaskets should be used?
  10. Took heads off. Hit piston head with sledge hammer and pipe. Started turning by crank bolt and the remaining broken off connecting run pieces came out . Now its turning enough to get the remaining torque converter to flex plate bolts out.
  11. The oil pan is off. The end of the connecting rod that goes around the crank shaft is broken off an laying in the oil pan. The rest of the crank shaft is jammed up between two aluminium bars that are part of the block. Crank shaft will not turn clockwise with breaker bar or impact gun on crank bolt.
  12. Have ej25 with seized engine. Had to remove engine with torque converter. Engine has a broken connecting rod that's jammed up in the engine. Trying to rotate the crank shaft to access the flex plate to torque converter bolts.
  13. On ej25 engine, where is the optimal cam sprocket position to set intake and exhaust valves while heads on the workbench. Can't use the FSM procedure because that's done with timing belt on. On the bench the valve train doesn't want to stay at the 12, 3 , 6 and 9 positions.
  14. Want to install a 99 ej22 phase 2 non egr engine into a 2004 Impreza with a ej25 egr engine. Is that a direct swap or will there be ecm issues?
  15. Thank you Gloyale. I matched them up with the two letter code stamped on the heads and cam carriers..
  16. Putting cams, cam plates and valve train back after head resurfacing on 07 ej25. How do you tell which cam, cam plate, and valve train go with which head. Looks like cams aren't switchable. I beleive the valve trains can be used on either head and the cam plates are for the specific head, either drivers side or passenger side.
  17. Have 07 Impreza with two copper washers and a u shaped copper washer that hold the power steering pump hose on top of power steering pump with a bolt. Do the two washers go on the inside or the outside of the u shaped washer? Whatever I'm doing is incorrect because the power steering fluid is leaking from the connection between hose and pump.
  18. Where do you connect the vacuum hose that goes to the front of air box. There is no connection in top of jdm block?
  19. Have 07 Impreza. with jdm block.and usdm intake manifold. The jdm block has a tube in top of block where the usdm manifolds pcv would normally screw in.. How do I connect the pcv with this setup?
  20. Yes. It was in the front defog mode. Switched to regular heat mode and the ac compressor stopped cycling on and off. Thanks for your help.
