  1. Yep, sounds like a bearing squeeking. If one of the timing belt idlers or tensioners is going out, probably time to change them all.
  2. Sounds like a timing problem. Double check to make sure you have the spark plug wires connected correctly. It's an easy mistake.
  3. I agree white smoke is not normally burning oil. If you're getting low compression, did you try doing a wet/dry test ? I also recommend a vacuum test to check to confirm if the low compression problem is rings or valves.
  4. Have you done any tests on it -- Compression tests? vacuum tests ? Is there a lot of smoke from the exhaust when you drive or a pool of oil in the driveway ?
  5. It's probably a leak around the oil filter or pump. The air blows it up into the engine compartment. I had an oil filter leaking one time and had oil all over the engine compartment and even into the air filter.
  6. Really does sound like a fuel pump problem to me. As others said, you won't get a code from it. If it stalls again, try rapping on the fuel pump with a screwdriver handle a few times. If it starts up then it's almost certain it's the fuel pump.
  7. Intermittent problems sounds like fuel pump going out. Sometimes it will run fine then gets worse and frequency of problem will increase.
  8. Maybe this will help. How to test an alternator. Diagnosing Alternator problems If the alternator checks out and the battery is still going dead, then the likely culprit is a parasitic drain and there are more videos for tracking down that problem.
  9. You can see many examples of how to do it. Check youtube or google it.
  10. I had a weird rattle like that one time. Turned out to be a loose bolt on the alternator. Look around the engine compartment for any loose bolts on anything bolted down.
  11. I got mine from the dealer, but I suspect you can get along with any on-line set. Probably a lot less expensive. While you're making updates you might also want to add a starter relay. Sooner than later it is going to need that too.
  12. Did it run properly before the repairs ? If you just leave it idle, will it stay running ? What have you checked/changed so far to resolve the problem ?
  13. Search this forum. That has been asked and answered before. May even find photos. There are a couple of tricks to getting the dash off .
  14. They are prone to solder failures on the circuit board. Easily repaired. Many posts and photos on the problem.
  15. I'd let it dry out some more then see if it starts.
  16. May also want to check your exhaust system. Make sure it's not clogged and working properly.
  17. For color, look at Rustoleum "canvas white" and see if you find that close enough.
  18. +1 Put a vacuum gauge on the brake booster line and get some actual diagnostic data - can't hurt.
  19. With that much movement, I suspect you got the wrong bearings or maybe the hub is damaged.
  20. I don't see this car worth $500 with all those problems. If you decide to do this project, i would offer substantially less. I would start with offering to haul it away at no cost to the owner,
