  1. Pictures of what you have done could be helpful .
  2. here's a chart http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/73038-axle-replacement-for-ea-series-cars/page-2?do=findComment&comment=629117
  3. If the problem is not the battery then it can be the starter. As these starters get older the solenoid contacts wear down, so the starter can function intermittently. Other possibilities are ignition switch wear, park/neutral or clutch switch wear. Solutions include replacing contacts, adding a relay to compensate for ignition switch wear or adding a start button to bypass park/neutral or clutch switch. Lots of discussion in this forum from folks who have done these repairs. I did the first two for my loyale when the problem started.
  4. A vacuum leak somewhere may be the problem. Some test info can be found here: https://www.linnbenton.edu/auto/perform/no_start.html
  5. if it has spark, fuel, compression and proper timing it should start . Is it getting air ? Any computer codes ? vacuum lines all still connected ?
  6. I did a quick search of this forum for code 33 because I know nothing about it. I found this which may help: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/129661-cut-out-problem/?hl=%26quot%3Bcode+33%26quot%3B&do=findComment&comment=1102545 If you do the same search you will find several topics have been posted. Perhaps one which is similar to your own.
  7. Hmmm... not much left if everything has been tried. running poorly is possible from many things. how about: Poor air flow poor spark poor compression pcv clogged Any CEL codes ? Timing off
  8. Mods depend on your intended usage. Chances are if it hasn't been driven much it also hasn't gotten a lot of maintenance. For openers I would go through and change all the fluids, check all the belts, hoses, plugs, wires, brakes. Then drive it for a while and see what you like or don't like and shop around for prices on mods.
  9. My memory is weak, but I think there are posts in this forum about distributor wires and the colors. See this link for partial discussion. There are likely more posts on the subject. http://www.ultimates...e/#entry1246915 hope this helps
  10. axle info http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/73038-axle-replacement-for-ea-series-cars/page-2?do=findComment&comment=629117
  11. Here's some info and reading material all about those plugs http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/120875-overkill-on-a-cel-question/?hl=%2Bclear+%2Bcodes&do=findComment&comment=1019183 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/3992-one-more-timehow-do-you-check-ecu-trouble-codes-on-ea82/
  12. If pressing the accelerator causes power problems then it could be a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel filter and the fuel pump pressure. Another possibility is a clogged exhaust system. Rap on the catalytic converter. If you hear stuff rattling inside, it's done.
  13. I would verify you have the correct axle because a wrong axle can still fit. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/73038-axle-replacement-for-ea-series-cars/page-2?do=findComment&comment=629117
  14. I did get the O2 code.. If not the O2 sensor then the problem may be similar, a sensor starting to fail.
  15. I had this problem. Eventually the light came on and stayed on. Turned out to be the oxygen sensor.
  16. If the coil tested ok, then check the distributor cap for hairline cracks. You may also have a faulty ignition switch.
  17. sounds like a possible grounding problem but you should take the coil in and have it tested.
  18. sounds very much like a grounding problem.
  19. Altrom brand products from NAPA are OEM quality.
  20. Maybe the water pump going out - that would also be a rotational bearing type noise. If you can safely listen to the pump with your stethoscope, it would be worth ruling it out. --Never mind, you posted your update while I was watching the video .. Glad you found it.
