  1. Wiring harness stripped down today. With the help of Shawn W. Greatly reduced the headache factor.
  2. Impreza Kyb AGX struts with outback springs. 215/60/16 nitro snow tires @in boss lift in rear stock struts/springs
  3. Ej is in. Brz radiator went in pretty easily. Used a stepped drill bit and bored the holes to fit the rubber grommets. Different location than the stock one. Drilled a new mounting system on the top. Fairly easy mod for a solid aluminum 2 row radiator. Now I am figuring out the radiator cap/fill reservoir. Running it like a vw with overflow on the heater core lines. The wiring looks daunting to say the least. I am crossing my fingers that I will be able to get this thing running by the end of the month. I have until the 23rd to register it. I still need to bleed the brakes a bit.
  4. I love the touring wagons. Nice car! Good job.
  5. Finished my front 5 lug conversion today. Used Legacy knuckles/calipers/rotors, ea81 tie rod ends and Raceland coilovers in the front. Just had the holes in the coilovers moved inward to fit the gl Strut pattern. With a Boss 2in lift and camber adjustment on top and bottom. It is patiently awaiting the ride to Retro Roo for the 90' EJ 2.2 which is ready to go with exhaust headers and cat w/ oxygen bung. Bleed the breaks and put it on a trailer tomorrow. I feel like it might actually happen. We will see how the suspention will hold up, The coilovers are for a 08-13 wrx. I figured I would just try and use the stock strut tops on the rear. Once again we will see if this works. It's all trial and error. Tires are 225/65/16. They might rub a bit in the bumps. I am interested how this thing will handle now. I might end up with narrower tires but they were cheap and in front of me with rims 120 bucks. Problem solved, now on to another one.
  6. Sweet, I was bummed about losing the e brake. I will now have to find some impreza knuckles and loyale calipers.
  7. lookin' good! I like the stance with the general grabbers. Looks so much different (better) than stock.
  8. I would go with the Yakima option. You can take it off easy and it can still hold quite a load. Plus there are boxes and accessories you can easily add and take off. The keys are interchangeable as well. I have put a lot of weight on there. It has never let me down and it's easy to put on and off.
  9. 89 gl and late 88's had rear shoulder belt and Loyale's. My 89 Gl has them. So I would assume they put them in all the later models. Nice rig by the way!
  10. Figured out a possible solution to my no radiator cap problem. Dodge Durango has one in the upper radiator hose apparently 1.5in in diameter. Shawn W. came up with this after checking out my new radiator. We will see how it all goes together. If at all. I might just end up going stock.
  11. Crappy paint job to calipers! 5 extra horsepower just comes out of nowhere! Now if I can just finish getting it rolling again I might see that 5mph braking increase. Only have the front to do, except there is the tough part I am finding out. But soon, I am hoping.
  12. Nice Work! Sweet build! I was wondering how that brz radiator install went. I ordered one after reading about yours and was just seeing how you installed it. Cheers and keep up the good work.
  13. New Radiator came in. Saw this on nico's gl-10 biuld. Same size as ea82, But i'm gonna have to do some more custom mounting.
  14. No disassemble Johnny 5. Unless it's to make him better! Good luck.
  15. I got some cheapie coilovers and I am going to modify my bottom bracket on my boss lift. And drill a hole in the top to access the camber screws.Just enough to get at the screws. I also finished installing driver's seat with gl-10 seat track, I got to keep the height adjustment. I will be pulling the motor in the ea82 tomorrow and the legacy gets gutted and sent off to the junkyard on wednesday. I am going to keep the suspension and knuckles rotors and calipers incase I cannot use the xt6 rotors and calipers.
  16. Ha! Got it. Thanks. Well, she got a good deal and car regardless. I had not even got to wheel it with the new tires and wheels.(Probably a Good thing!) But I still get to wrench on it. I am showing her around the car by helping her fix some of the issues that persue after lifting said vehicle. Rear axel happened to go out on her almost a week after getting the car.boo. I gave her two front axels and a new exhaust with cats, and a spare motor with 90,000 mi and a blown head gasket. She was also stoked to find the junkyard filled with parts she wanted. Cosmetically I suggested to her to become a member and start a new thread on her improvements. Hopefully she will take over from here. Cheers.
  17. I have a 90 legacy donor car, can I use those knuckles and hubs and still use the xt6 calipers as they have the e brake? I have all the xt6 stuff with good rotors and calipers and pads, but I cannot find a wheel seal that will fit the knuckle and fit the axel from a 93 fwd 5spd.Thanks for your advise.
  18. What did you use for the front knuckles and struts? Did you get rid of your e brake in the front?
  19. I installed the boss lift the way it was written on the lift blocks. Driver/ Passenger with the arrows pointing forward. I double checked and thats what was written. The way I did it put the strut tops closer to the engine. I don't have the car anymore so I can't just go look but I am putting one on my new set up and I will try it both ways. Maybe it was marked wrong?
  20. I have a 2 in lift already, Will this put me too high for acceptable axel angels. I can always make a 1in lowering kit if need be. I just didnt want to extend steering linkage and all that other stuff.
  21. AA (Alied Alignment) wheels I got from a board member. And it's a 2in lift with 205/70/15's But now it is in the hands of the new owner.
  22. Ordered a stainless header, j pipe and catalytic converter for the ej swap from Sube 101. Stoked to get some exhaust and keep the skid plate. One step closer. I ordered some more axel seals for the front ER knuckles Timken pn 710108, I hope these work as the last ones did not pn 225678. I might end up using my legacy set up, struts, knuckles and brakes. I am not sure on all this as this is the first car I have done much modification to. Everyday I learn something new. I might look for some front coil overs as the diameter is smaller for the springs and perch. I am not sure how the impreza struts and legacy springs will fit in the ea-82 body. We will see... More pics to come tomorrow as I have another day off and in the garage.
  23. sold this car to another subaru enthusiast. She will be taking it from here on out. Helped her put on the AA wheels w/ 205/70/15's
  24. I have tried the inner seal swap for my 5 lug and the er knuckle with the ej 93 fwd 5spd axel and the timmken 225678 is not a match for the knuckle. The od of the metal is too large to fit in the er knuckle. I am going to try 710108 tomorrow. I will try and post some pictures tomorrow. 710108 doesn't work either. I am going to use 90' Legacy knuckles/ spindles/ Hubs. The seal 710108 fit but there was a metal lip that went around the od and kept it from slipping all the way into the knuckle. It seemed as if this was not a good idea. I will try to load pictures of the lip. I cannot download any pictures I have exceeded my allotted disk space apparently. 710108 225678 Here are the differences
  25. Junkyard score $120! With the tires, which are too big but will get it rollin'.
